Attention League Captains & Players USTA Statement on Suspension of Events
Due to the heightened concerns surrounding the COVID-19 virus, effective immediately the
USTA will suspend all USTA sanctioned products and events, including Adult and Junior
Tournaments, League Tennis, Junior Team Tennis, USTA Schools programs, Tennis on
Campus, Wheelchair Events and USTA Pro Circuit Events. The health and safety of all players,
staff, fans and volunteers are the foremost concern. This suspension is in effect through April
20. The USTA’s goal will be to reschedule events where possible following this suspension
period. Additionally, recognizing the evolving and fast-changing nature of this situation, the
USTA will continue to monitor and assess conditions to make future determinations about
events and activities taking place after April 20.
The USTA Southwest Section will evaluate the reschedule and completion of all USTA products
including leagues, events, and tournaments where feasible when the decision is made
that it is safe to proceed. We appreciate your understanding in these difficult times.
Local League Coordinators will communicate with individual flight captains with instructions or plans regarding the individual flights and how they will proceed.
Please be patient, as it might take some time to organize a plan for each league. Do not contact your local league coordinators, you receive your updates.
They will be actively communicating with the many team captains in the Southwest Section.
This notice has been sent to all league players in the southwest section for the current 2020 championship year.
If you know a league player who did not receive this notice, it means he/she has opted out of USTA League Communications in Tennislink.
Players may log in to their tennislink accounts and opt in to receive future league updates and notifications.
Stay Healthy! Sincerely,
Lori Therrien
