Reservations for practice courts based on these start times will be taken during Registration on September 15 between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. No reservation will be taken by email or over the phone unless the player has received prior approval for missing Registration.

All players will receive a $500. cash stipend to help defer their tournament travel and hospitality expenses. Players will receive the stipend when they register at the tournament on Thursday September 15th.

This is the third year for the Zimmerman/Johnson USTA National Tournament at Stanford University. The tournament has taken the place of the Nike Junior Tour USA National Masters, which had been held on clay at the Evert Academy in Boca Raton, Florida, during the same date block. The tournament is a USTA International Level II event. The strength of field in the past and last year has been extremely high. The event was expanded to include all age groups for 2015. This tournament is categorized as a USTA International Tournament, meaning players entering do not have to meet the US Citizen or Certain Alien eligibility requirements of other USTA National Tournaments - it is open to international players. A current USTA membership is also required. Because selection is based on the National Standings List of the division and up to four wild cards per division, international players will only be accepted if they apply for wild cards - see more information below on applying for a wild card.

This tournament is categorized as a USTA International Tournament and will use the ITF age eligibility cutoff date of December 31 to determine age eligibility for a division.
• Example #1: If you are currently 12, but will turn 13 on or before December 31, 2016, you WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE to compete in the 12 Division and would need to enter into the 14 Division.
• Example #2: If you are currently 16 and will turn 17 on or before December 31, 2016 you WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE to compete in the 16 Division and must enter the 18 Division.

Entries close for the tournament at 11.59 PM Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, August 18th. To avoid potential problems that arise when attempting to register at the last minute, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that players enter well in advance of the deadline. A player that does not enter by the deadline is only eligible to be a Late Applicant and is placed on the bottom of the Singles Alternate List and is prioritized last for selection into the doubles draw.

Players may enter up to two divisions in this tournament, but will only be eligible to be selected and play in one division. When selection is done, selection will be done in descending division order.
• If a player is selected into the older age division entered, the player will not be selected into the younger age division.
• If a player is not selected into the older age division, the player will only be considered for selection into the younger division.
• If the player is not selected in the younger division the player will only be eligible to be an alternate in the younger division, unless the player has applied for a Wild Card in the older age division.

During registration, each player will be asked to read and sign the USTA Junior Player Oath below. Signing the oath is optional, but it is encouraged as it is an acknowledgement of the player's responsibility for good sportsmanship and fair play.

I recognize that tennis is a sport that places the responsibility for fair play on me. I promise to abide by the rules of the game, which require me to give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent. At all times I shall strive to compete with the true spirit of sportsmanship, recognizing that my behavior on the court is a direct reflection of my character. Whether my matches end with my victory or defeat, I promise to conduct myself in a way that honors my opponents, those who support me, and the game of tennis.

All players are required to submit a signed USTA Waiver & Release Form before competing in the tournament. A copy of the form will be sent to all accepted players shortly after selection. Applicants are encouraged to take care of this administrative task as soon as possible after tournament selection.

The singles draw size is limited to 16 players per division. A compass draw will be played that guarantees all players 4 matches, barring withdrawals after the start of the tournament. Some divisions will play 2 rounds on Friday and 1 round each on Saturday and Sunday. Other divisions will play 1 round on Friday, 2 rounds on Saturday, and 1 round on Sunday. All matches will be the best of 3 Tiebreak sets. Last matches on Sunday will go on (provided we are running on time) by 1:00 pm.

Selection for the tournament will be done as follows:
• 12 players that meet the ITF age eligibility from the most recently published National Standings List of the Division.
• Up to 4 wild cards.
• If fewer than 4 wild cards are awarded, vacancies will be filled with ITF age eligible from the recently published National Standings List of the Division.

Onsite Alternates: Onsite Alternates are those players on the Alternate Lists who have come to the tournament site to be a last-minute replacement for a withdrawing player. On-Site Alternates may be admitted into the singles main draw to replace withdrawing players until the completion of the first round of play. Any player receiving a bye in the first round can also be replaced by an on-site alternate in the second round because this player has not yet played a match in the event. This does not apply to players receiving withdrawals or retirements as these are considered matches won. On-Site Alternates may not play in the Compass Draw unless they have first played in the singles main draw.

Any alternate player desiring admittance must check in and be ready for play no later than 15 minutes prior to the first scheduled match time of the event for which they are an alternate. The order of the alternates is based on the original Alternate Lists published by the tournament, not a more recently published list, and not in the order in which the players check in.

Alternates will be ordered as follows:
• All timely applicants that tweet the ITF age eligibility will be ordered on the singles alternate list using the National Standings List used to select players for the tournament.
• Late Applicants: A Late Applicant is a player who enters after the entry deadline. Regardless of position on the National Standings Lists, a Late Applicant is placed on the bottom of the Alternate List in the order in which it is received. Two Late Entries received at the same time are ordered by lot.

Up to 4 Wild Cards per division may be awarded by the Tournament Committee. To guarantee consideration for a Wild Card, please submit a Wild Card Application by the entry deadline. Four players will be numerically seeded. Singles seeding will be based on the most recently published National Singles Seeding List of the division, except that international players, players with ITF rankings, and players with outstanding results in the next-younger division may also be considered.

Information on if and how inclement weather affects the tournament schedule will be posted to top of this website as court conditions change. This tournament does not have indoor back up. In the unlikely event matches have to be cancelled due to inclement weather, the order of cancellation is as follows: singles consolation (non-East draw), singles main draw (East draw).

Prior to Entry Deadline: Prior to entries closing, a player may withdraw and automatically receive a refund of your entry fee by clicking on the "Withdrawal" link that is in the Edit Registration box at the top right of this page.

Withdrawals After Entry Deadline: Immediately contact Phil Cello (contact information is at the top of this page) if you need to withdraw from the tournament after entries close.
• If the withdrawal is due to a injury or illness, the USTA Regulations require the injured or ill player to submit written verification from a medical professional before the end of the day on September 20th (the last day of the tournament).
• If the withdrawal is due to a personal circumstance, the player must submit a written description of the situation no later than the end of the day on September 20th (the last day of the tournament) and the Referee shall determine whether the situation is a personal circumstance.

The draws will be made at the home of Assistant Tournament Director Andrea Norman on or about Sunday, September 11th. Start times will be published on Wednesday, September 14th so that players can make practice court times when they register on Thursday, September 15th. Draws will be published following the player meeting on Thursday, September 15th.

Players, parents, coaches, and other tournament guests are invited to Stanford University for Tournament Registration, a Welcome Dinner and Player Meeting on Thursday, September 15th. Registration begins at 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The dinner and meeting begin at 6:00 pm.

Tournament Registration on First Day of Play: Players that do not attend early registration on Thursday evening must check in at least 30 minutes prior to their start time to register.

There will be no charge for practice courts.

Practice Courts on Thursday, September 15th - Day Before Start of Play
Following the announcement of players selected for the tournament, practice Courts at Stanford University may be reserved in 1-hour blocks from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, one time slot per player. To make a reservation, no later than midnight Pacific Time on Monday, September 12th, click on the link that follows to request a practice time. Up to 4 times may be submitted, in preference order. Assignments will be made on a first come, first served basis and announced by Wednesday, September 14th. During high-demand request times, two players may be assigned to a court. Openings in the practice court schedule can be reserved at Tournament Registration starting at 10 am on Thursday, September 17th. more info

Reservations for practice courts for Friday can be made in person during tournament registration on Thursday, September 15th from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. Start times for Friday’s matches will be published on Wednesday to enable you to plan a practice court time.

Practice Courts for Saturday and Sunday can be made at the main Tournament Desk at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Practice Court Policies:
• Practice courts will be scheduled as set forth above.
• During periods when no reservations have been made, courts are available on a first come, first served basis.
• During high demand times, courts may have have two "Tournament Players" to a court. Coaches, parents, players not in the draw, and other tournament guests are NOT considered "Tournament Players."
• Courts are available in one-hour blocks on Thursday before the start of the tournament and in half-hour blocks during the tournament. Please surrender your court if you have had use of it for a full half hour and players are waiting to get on.
• Please be courteous to other players, parents, and coaches. Unsportsmanlike conduct should be reported and is subject to penalty under the USTA Junior Suspension Point System.

All players are required to wear appropriate tennis attire and dress in a manner consistent with being a participant a USTA Junior National Tournament. Sports bras, shirts with inappropriate language, shoes not designed for tennis, and any other attire that is recreational and not tennis-oriented is not permitted. T-shirts (other than the tournament shirt) are not acceptable on the final Sunday of the tournament. Players not meeting the dress code may be asked to change prior to going on the court.
