2019 North South Schedule of Play

Welcome to the 35th Annual North/ South Senior Men’s Challenge Cup. This is an annual team competition between Northern and Southern California played at the Copper River Country Club in Fresno, California. All players who meet the minimum age requirement are encouraged to apply.

Please register in the event(s) that you would like to play. With the exception of the Men’s 90s team, players will either be selected to play singles or doubles. If your preference is to play singles or doubles make sure to register in both events. Players must be able to play both days.

When registering online, the entry fee will display a $3.00 charge. This fee will not be charged to your credit card account. There is no entry fee for this event.

When registering for this event, please be sure to include your contact information. We will be using the contact information to notify players regarding selection and other North/ South Challenge Cup information.

All players will compete in one match per day. The scoring format for this event is two sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of the third set.

The age groups for this event are the following:

Men’s: 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, and 90.

For each age group eight (8) players will be selected. Four (4) players will be selected to play singles and four (4) players will be selected to play doubles. For the 90’s division two (2) players will be selected and will play two singles and one doubles match. Players may only play singles both days or Doubles both days.

The Player Selection Committee will be made up of the Chair of the Adult Tournament Committee, the individual Age Group Captains, and the Adult Tournament Coordinator.

Players must play one (1) USTA NorCal Sanctioned Tournament during the 2018-2019 season (season starts October 2018) to be eligible for this event.

Selection Criteria is based on the following:
- Head to head records
- Indirect wins and losses
- Rankings
- UTR ratings
- Any additional information available over a 12 month period.

The NorCal North/South Selection Committee may give one wildcard per age division to accommodate a player who has not met the player selection criteria. To receive a wildcard, a player must be a Northern California resident and a member of the USTA. Wildcards will be awarded at the discretion for the Selection Committee.

Upon the close of entries, the North/South Selection Committee will make the team selections. Once selections have been made, players will be notified by email regarding the status of their selection.

All divisions will play on Sunday and Monday. Match times will be announced prior to the start of the tournament.
