12 Noon, March 3 - the tournament is formally cancelled
I am so sorry the rain came and didn't go away for this tournament. If you started a match and you both wish to complete it, please let Todd and me know as soon as possible. We can allow players who started to finish their matches on or off site if agreed upon as long as completed in 30 days. Also, usually the entire round has to agree so that the advancement is even and everyone has an equal chance at the points. If your event did not start, you are done with this tournament.
For those of you who did not withdraw and who did not complete a match but paid on line to enter, the tournament will refund your tournament fee less $2.00 for an administration fee that we are allowed to charge. So doubles will be $18.00 and singles will be $38.00. The Tennis Link fee is non-refundable. If your address is different than what you put in for the tournament, please let me know so that the refund is sent to the correct place. This refund will be processed and sent by check through US mail. It may take 3-4 weeks to reach you because it will also take us a little time to sort this out.
If you have questions, please email both Todd and me to get an answer.
Thank you, All, for entering and being ready to play. We hope to see you next year!

9:15 AM Update - it is raining again!
All - I am very sorry but we were in the process of squeegeeing the courts and it started raining. All of this occurred at a time in which we had the least chance of rain. We do not feel that we can get the courts dry now until at least mid-afternoon. It is humid, damp, and overcast - no breeze or sun, and certainly not conducive to court drying at all. This coupled with the fact that the rain forecast is actually increasing throughout the day will cause us not to be able to play today in a reasonable fashion. Although we cannot cancel the tournament formally until noon, please know that we will not be playing today and a formal cancellation will go up when it can. Please do enjoy the rest of your day.
|
6:05 AM Update - we are going to delay all matches by two hours
It is very wet and we do not think we can get the courts dry until noon-ish at this time. Please note that we are delaying the start of matches today until noon. Please add two hours to your original match start time. I will post another update around 10 AM. Thank you for your patience.

6 AM, March 3 - well, it is not raining at this time but very wet still
It is not currently raining, but it is still very wet and dark. Unfortunately it looks like there is another system that might come in around 10 AM through the early afternoon. I will update around 7 AM when we have had a chance to go out on the courts and see. Currently though it is not raining and it looks like we may be dry for a few hours.
|
9 PM, March 2 - we will try to start at 10 AM tomorrow, weather permitting
I am reprogramming the draws for 8-game prosets for tomorrow. At 8-games all, you would play a 7-point set tiebreak. We are trying to get at least two rounds done for every event. Those matches that did not finish on Friday evening will be among those that start first. Please remember that you must finish your round in the same format as everyone else. If you have a question, please ask. All new rounds will start with the 8-game proset.
I will update the site early in the morning - around 6 AM. Please check it. Unfortunately, it still may be raining, in which case I will move the start times. Please remember that we cannot cancel the day or the tournament until noon tomorrow at the earliest. This is a NorCal rule.

12 noon, March 2nd - We are formally cancelling today's play due to rain. Please read the information below:
I am sorry, but it looks like Mother Nature is not going to give us that window to play today. All matches scheduled for today are cancelled! Please note that the NorCal regulation is that a tournament cannot cancel a day's play until noon of that day. In addition, the tournament cannot cancel the tournament until the last day of play at noon. So even if there is a 100% chance of rain, we cannot cancel the day until 12 noon just in case there is an opportunity to play. NorCal does not want any tournament to cancel prematurely. So for tomorrow, even though it looks like it will rain, we will redo the schedules for play on Sunday. We will, if we play, play 8-game prosets with a 7-point tiebreak at 8 games all in all events. We will be trying to schedule at least two rounds of prosets for each event. We do have courts at Natomas for the morning if needed. Please check the website for a weather update later tonight and of course, in the morning as will be outlined tonight. We cannot control the weather, and we are also trying to do the best that we can under the rules and regulations for NorCal play. Inclement weather does make things very inconvenient at times for all of us.

8:30 AM - still raining! Matches are pushed back to 2 PM
We are still raining heavily. Matches are pushed out to 2 PM at this time. Nothing will start before 2 PM at the earliest. We will reassess before noon and make a decision at that time in terms of play and formats.
|
Raining and wet at 3:00 AM, March 2.
We will update the site before 10 AM. Right now, we will not start until at least noon. If it is still raining in the morning, we may need to push that back a bit.
|
1 AM March 2 - Draws are re-posted. Please check your site of play!
We are playing at 2 sites - Rio del Oro and Natomas. Please check your site so you show up at the correct place for your match. Updates for weather will be posted at 10 AM or earlier depending on the weather.

9 PM, Friday - Weather Update - Please read
Rats, it started to rain just enough to halt our last matches out tonight. I will be taking down the draws to reschedule these matches to be the first matches for Saturday. These matches should be played in the same format as they were started in.
I will be rescheduling the rest of Saturday to follow these matches. At this time it looks like 100% chance of rain tonight, which means the courts will be wet in the morning. We will be rescheduling to start at 12 noon in light of this, and we will be using two sites - Rio del Oro and Natomas. Our match format will change to the best of three sets with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of the third set with NO-AD scoring for the NTRP and Age Divisions. The Open Divisions will change to the best of three sets with a 10-point match tiebreak, regular scoring.
If it should rain more in the morning, we may have to push the schedule out a bit, but will try to give updates as soon as we know. WE may play very late at Rio.
Please check this site often for updates now.
|
Looks like we will be on schedule for Friday play as planned!
Please check your draws and schedule. Drive safely. Update on Saturday will occur late Friday evening with updates as needed. Please check this site often. If needed, we will be adding a second site on Saturday and Sunday - Natomas Sports Club, 2450 Natomas Park Drive, Sacramento CA 95833. The designation on the draw will be NSC if the schedules are redone.
|
Draws and Schedules are posted!
Please check your draws carefully. Check this website often for changes due to withdrawals, etc. If you must withdraw, please email both the tournament director and the referee in a timely fashion. Remember that in adult NorCal tournaments, all withdrawals earn two suspension points. The weather may be a factor this weekend. We are playing as fully as we can on Friday which at this time looks like the best weather day to play. If play needs to be postponed due to weather, we will be updating this site as we know. Again, please check this site often!
Travel safely. Traffic can be quite troublesome coming into Sacramento.

Welcome!
Welcome to the Rio del Oro
NTRP/Open/Age tournament! Player amenities will include T-shirts, adult
beverages, and snacks for all adult players. Please come and play!
This tournament is scheduled for one-weekend of
play, March 1-3, 2019 (Friday through Sunday).
When registering for the tournament,
please enter a valid email address and cell phone number. If you do not enter
this information, we will have no way of contacting you during the tournament.
Formats of Play:
The Open
draws are limited to 64 for singles and to 16 for doubles. All matches will be
the best of three tiebreak sets. Open singles matches will not start
before 2:00 PM on Friday. We will allow players to request an avoidance
until 3:30 PM on Friday if they are in school. This avoidance should be requested BEFORE entries close. Otherwise, no avoidances for
Friday play can be accepted. In the
past, we have had to play two rounds of men’s open singles on Friday.
The Age draws are limited to 16 for all events. All matches will
be the best of three tiebreak sets with a 10-point match tiebreak played in
lieu of the third set. Players are limited to one singles and one doubles event
maximum.
The NTRP
draws are limited to 32 for singles and to 16 for doubles. All matches will be
the best of three tiebreak sets with a 10-point match tiebreak played in lieu
of the third set. Players are limited to one singles and one doubles event
maximum at the SAME NTRP level. While we don’t anticipate most draws
requiring Friday evening play, in the event that Friday play is required, it
would not start before 6 PM.
If entries exceed the draw limit, please note
that the tournament director may choose 25% of the entries for an event first. For NTRP and Age draws, all other entrants are selected by lot (random). For Open divisions, all other entrants are selected by UTR criteria as published in the adult tournament rules. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL EVENTS
which exceed a draw of 16 will definitely start on Friday and all players in
these events will be expected to be available on Friday for play. With regard
to the NTRP divisions, most divisions will start on Saturday, March 2nd, unless
total draw size necessitates playing a round on Friday evening, which would start
at 6 PM or later. Please note that avoidances may not be granted if they
affect the fairness of play or the scheduling.
Please enter on time. Late entrants
may not be accepted. The entry deadline is Saturday, February 23, 2018,
at 11:59 PM.

Concurrent Tournament Rule
A player shall not be entered at the time entries close in two or more USTA sanctioned tournaments scheduled to take place at the same time, in whole or in part, unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation, concurs in writing, and each agrees to accommodate the player’s schedule. The final decision rests with each tournament committee. If one tournament agrees to accept concurrent entries and accommodate the player's schedule but the concurrent tournament does not, the player may not enter both. If entries for the overlapping tournaments close on different dates, approval must be received from all Tournament Committees no later than the entry closing date that occurs last. Players who enter a tournament and play it to completion, may then enter another tournament with overlapping dates without permission. If a player violates this concurrent tournament rule ranking points earned in any concurrent tournament played will not count toward ranking or the Grand Prix Points Race and the concurrent tournaments will not count toward the minimum tournament requirement to qualify for Grand Prix.
