Sportsmanship Winners: Everybody, players and parents, for your great patience during our many rain delays, as if Georgia really needed rain. We do hope all have or will arrive home safely, especially those fathers who were driven home to Mooresville. Again, a sincere thanks. Finally, we do hope that all you Florida kids will return in May, or at least let your parents come even if you do not - your parents were great.

Remainder of TOURNAMENT CANCELLED. As of 12:00pm, it still is raining with no relief for many hours to come. "In progress" matches are scored as "abandoned"; meaning that the match was started, but cannot be finished. There is no winner or loser.

BEFORE YOU CALL, PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION BELOW -IT WILL SAVE ON PHONE CALLS AND E-MAILS. Especially, read the section below about new Scheduling Guidelines. $Do not be surprised when you read your match time-it may look strange!!
|
FIRST MATCH TIME and DRAW INFORMATION
The FIRST MATCH TIMES are directly above at the cleverly named First Match Time Report - they are NOT on the Draws. To avoid confusion, the DRAWS do NOT have match times. However, they do have the day of the match.. Next round match times only may be found on the posted draws at Hudlow. It is the players' jobs to get their next round match times from these posted draws!! Barring weather issues, no additional match times will be posted at this site.
|
SCHEDULING GUIDELINES
Because of a new USTA-mandated procedure for handling lateness penalties for players in groups of matches scheduled at the same time, the match times have been staggered throughout each hour. No longer are times solely set on the half-hour or hour. Therefore, except for the large group of matches that will start each day, few matches will start at the same time. This should help players avoid lateness penalties and will free the tournament desk from putting on a block of matches every half hour. Comments are welcome throughout the tournament.

TENTATIVE SEEDS PUBLISHED
2007 USTA NATIONAL OPEN SEEDING REGULATIONS: “The seeding shall be done using the most recently published National Standing List of the division in the order in which players appear on the list.” Players in the next younger age division may be seeded in the last group of seeds if they are in the top 50 of the most recently published National Standing List of the next younger age division. Some movement within the initial order of the seeds is permitted because of direct wins – this depends on the “point spread” among the players of interest.
NOTE: The draws will be posted no sooner than Wednesday afternoon. Since Wednesday morning, there have been three withdrawals forcing a redoing of the draw and new seeding.

COMPETITOR and ALTERNATE LISTS and LATE ENTRANT INFO If you are near the top of this Alternate List, then you may want to give us your phone numbers - you can e-mail them. The "Alternate List" ( "Alternates by Event" ) is ordered by the 10-24'07 Standing List for the 18's and then the 16's. Players will be called as openings occur. The most "recent" alternate list is the top one. Remember: Alternates have selected multiple sites, so the list may not be as long as it appears. The "Competitor List", located directly above, is the list of players selected for the tournament. This is the list that changes as players are withdrawn and then replaced. There is a "Late Entrant List" of players who missed the deadline. This list is not published, but the players on this list would appear at the bottom of the "Alternate List".

CAUTION: DIRECTIONS TO HUDLOW TENNIS CENTER Hudlow Tennis Center is about 25 miles north of the airport. It is located off the Jimmy Carter Blvd. exit of I-85 and is about 1.4 miles west of the interstate in Best Friend Park (on the left), not on Best Friend Road!!. Internet directions to Hudlow Tennis Center are a bit misleading. The best bet is to call us when you get in town so we can give you clearer directions. For a map, click "more info" below.
