ENTRY AND SELECTION PROCESS

Notes
Posted 6/27:
Due to the forecast for hot weather during the tournament dates
we'll be starting matches at 8 AM. On Saturday, June 30th we'll
start with the first round of doubles, followed by the main draw
singles first and second rounds and consolation singles first
round. Players will be allowed 30 minutes rest after doubles and 2
hours following singles matches. Practice courts will be available
from 7-8 AM instead of 8-9 AM Saturday, June 30th through Tuesday,
July 3rd.
Players are reminded to make sure they stay hydrated! Unless it
rains matches will be outdoors, so players should come prepared for
hot conditions. It's recommended to bring umbrellas, coolers for
ice towels, large water jugs, drinks with electrolytes, etc.
Doubles Entries:
All players selected for singles are also eligible to play doubles.
To enter into the doubles draw players must send an email to
abf11@cornell.edu prior to Thursday, June 28th at 5 PM to confirm
their partner. Once both players confirm by email that they'll play
together the doubles team will be entered. Players who do not
confirm their partners by the deadline of June 28th at 5 PM will
not be included in the doubles draw.
USTA does not permit giving out contact information without
permission, but we'll be happy to forward emails to players
accepted into the singles draw who you want to contact about
doubles.
Please note that matches will be held at these two sites:
Reis Tennis Center of Cornell University - "REIS" in draws
(230 Pine Tree Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850).
Ithaca College Wheeler Tennis Courts - "IC" in draws (161
Lyceum Dr., Ithaca, NY 14850).
** Please make sure to check the site listed in the draws. It
usually takes 10-15 minutes to drive between sites.
Directions from Reis Tennis Center of Cornell
University (REIS) to Wheeler Tennis Courts at Ithaca College
(IC):
* Turn left (north) on Pine Tree Rd.
* At the light turn Left on Mitchell St.
* At the first Stop sign turn left on Cornell St.
* Go through the first light and the street becomes Giles St.
* At the second Stop sign turn Left on Columbia St.
* At the first Stop sign turn Left onto Hudson Rd/Coddington
Rd.
* Turn right onto Grant Egbert Blvd East.
* At the first Stop sign turn Left onto Lyceum Dr.
* The tennis courts will be on your left at 161 Lyceum Dr.
* Parking is available in Lot M next to the Athletics and Events
Center.
Tournament Check In:
On site check in will be held on Friday, June 29th between 4-8 PM
at Reis Tennis Center.
If you are unable to make it to registration on Friday, please
inform us by emailing abf11@cornell.edu in advance. Players who are
not able to register on Friday must do so at the Tournament Desk at
least 1 hour prior to their first match on Saturday, June 30.
Please make sure to provide complete contact information when
you register for the tournament.
If you don't provide an e-mail address and/or telephone number when
you register for this tournament we will be unable to notify you
about any important changes that may occur in the tournament.
USTA Release and Waiver
At check-in you are required to submit a signed USTA Release form.
Forms will be available on-site at check-in, or you may print a
copy of the USTA National Junior Championship Release. Players
whose parents will not accompany them to the tournament will need
to bring the signed release with them or send it in advance to
abf11@cornell.edu.

DOUBLES SELECTION PROCESS:
The Tournament Committee
shall accept doubles teams into the doubles event in the following
order:
1. All teams comprising two players in the singles draw shall be
selected.
2. Teams comprising one player in the singles draw and one player
not in the singles draw. If more than the maximum number of entries
is received, selection order is based on the most recently
published National Individual Doubles Seeding List , except that no
team comprised of a Late Applicant shall be selected before a team
comprised of timely applicants. Tournaments are NOT authorized to
expand the draw size in order to accommodate these types of
teams.
3. Teams comprising two players not in the singles draw. If more
than the maximum number of entries is received, selection order is
based on the most recently published National Individual Doubles
Seeding List, except that no team comprised of a Late Applicant
shall be selected before a team comprised of timely applicants.
Tournaments are NOT authorized to expand the draw size in order to
accommodate these types of teams.
PRACTICE COURTS
Practice courts will be available free of charge to tournament
participants.
The Reis Tennis Center indoor and outdoor courts will be available
on Friday, June 29th between 4-8 PM. On June 30-July 3 practice
courts will be available between 7-8 AM. All courts will be
available on a first come, first serve basis with up to four
players to a court and practice time will be limited to 30 minutes
if other players are waiting for a court.

Cornell north campus public courts at Appel Commons (186 Cradit

14850).
Draw Sizes
The singles draw size will be 64 players and doubles will be 32
teams.
Singles Draw Format: Feed in Consolation through
Round of 16 and a 3/4 play off. The quarterfinal losers will be fed
into a separate draw to playoff for 5th and 6th place (a 7th place
match will not be scheduled).
Players will be entitled to a 3 minute rest period after
splitting sets and before playing the Match Tiebreak. This rest
period is the only time during the match when coaching is
allowed.
Doubles Draw Format: Single elimination with 3/4
playoff
Scoring Format
• *Main Draw and Consolation singles will play 2
sets with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of a third
set.
• Doubles will play one 6-game no-ad pro-set with
7-point tiebreak at 6-all.
*For this Level 2 segment, the Junior Competition Committee has
approved a shortened scoring format for main draw singles matches.
All Main Draw singles matches shall be best 2 out of 3 full
tiebreak sets with a match tiebreaker in lieu of a third (instead
of 3 full sets).
PLAYER CHECK-IN for MATCHES
Players are requested to check-in at the tournament desk at least
15 minutes prior to each scheduled match. They should be prepared
to play at the time that they check in.

National Championships
All singles finalists and champions of the July National Level 2
will automatically qualify for the same age division of the
National Championships. Players must still register for the
National Championships in order to be considered for the event. To

Ithaca, NY 14850), which is within walking distance of the tennis
center, is offering a rate of $159/night including breakfast.
Tournament participants can register for rooms at this rate through

L1 USTA Tournament.
The Country Inn & Suites Ithaca (1100 Danby Rd, Ithaca,
NY, 14850) which is a 10-15 minute drive to Reis, is offering a
rate of $149/night including breakfast. This special rate for suite

the PROMO Code TENNAT for dates which include June 29-July 3.
The Quality Inn (356 Elmira Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850), which is
a 10-15 minute drive to Reis Tennis Center, is holding a block of
rooms for tournament participants at a rate of $139/night including

you are affiliated with the Reis Tennis Center USTA
tournament.
The Homewood Suites by Hilton Ithaca (36 Cinema Dr, Ithaca,
NY 14850), is holding a block of rooms for tournament participants
