Sportsmanship
Congratulations to Alexander Brown of Urbandale, IA and Elena Van Linge of Menlo Park, CA for being selected to receive the sportsmanship awards for the USTA National Open Championship at Arlington Tennis Center. Both Alex and Elena exhibited great personalities throughout the tournament, and they were respectful of their opponents on court, as well as tournament and facility staff off court. Alex and Elena interacted well with other players, and they took full responsibility for their participation in the tournament (check in, scores, next match times), rather than relying on others. Congratulations to Alex and Elena!

-
Alcoholic Beverages: Alcoholic Beverages are prohibited on the property (including the parking lot)
- Cell Phones: Please note that players may NOT use cell phones on court or at the tournament desk. Please turn them OFF. Spectators who use cell phones on the property should be mindful of whether their conversations interfere with tournament play (in which case, they will be asked to leave the area or turn the phone off) or normal business operations of the facility. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Dress Code: We ask that all players and spectators wear traditional attire appropriate for a family tennis environment. All guests (players and spectators) are required to wear shirts (including ladies wearing shirts over sports bras), and no bare stomachs / abdomens. Shorts and skirts should be of an appropriate length, as well. Players who do not dress appropriately will be asked to adjust their attire.

Seeding/Draw Notice
USTA National Jr. Comp contacted all (May) National Open Tournament Directors this morning (Monday, May 6) to let us know that there was an error on the Seeding List we were directed to use for seeding Singles for this tournament. As a result, all Singles seeding (and Singles draws) had to be redone this afternoon. As Singles seeding must be approved by Jr. Comp before posting (and seeding must be in place before draws can be completed), and because so many tournament directors were affected, not all of us could have our new seeding approved before Jr. Comp's close of business today.
Ordinarily, Singles draws would be posted by 8:00am on Tuesday before the tournament begins on Saturday. However, due to the above issue, it is unlikely draws will be posted by 8:00am tomorrow (Tuesday). We expect to receive Singles seeding approval sometime tomorrow (Tuesday, May 7) morning, which should allow us to post the draws by 12:00pm noon.
As a reminder, Doubles draws will not be done until Saturday morning, once all doubles teams have been confirmed. Doubles draws will be posted on line and at ATC by 2:00pm on Saturday. Tentatively: Boys' Doubles will begin 3:45-4:30pm (exact times will be listed on draws), and Girls' Doubles will begin 5:30-6:15pm (exact times will be listed on draws).

Alternates
If you are on the Alternate list for this tournament, and you have accepted entry into another National Open, please notify us by email: atc@arlingtontx.gov. TennisLink does not notify us or remove you from our Alternate list when you accept entrance in another tournament. Thank you.
The Ordered Alternates for Singles is now available. In addition to a Tournament Report, which does not always display properly for users, we have listed the Alternates as a tournament division. See Competitors, and choose the Ordered Alternates for your division (boys or girls). 'Seed' number refers to Alternate order. The Ordered Alternates will be updated as Alternates are placed or decline.
Ordered Late Entrants (for boys and girls) is also available under Competitors. Boys' 14 currently has no late entrants.
See the USTA National Junior Competition site for information on how Alternates are ordered. In summary:
- Top 300 of the age division NSL dated April 2013 (not already accepted). Note: No G14 Alternates met this criteria.
- Top 200 of the next younger age division NSL dated April 2013 (not already accepted)
- 301+ of the age division NSL dated April 2013 (not already accepted)
- 201+ of the age division NSL dated April 2013 (not already accepted)
As a reminder, the names of Alternates who are placed will still appear on the original Alternate list. We cannot remove players' names from The original Alternate list provided by USTA National Jr Competitive. Only the Ordered Alternates we created for boys and girls will reflect changes.

Doubles, Doubles, Doubles!
If you were selected to play in this tournament (by selection process or as a placed Alternate):
- As of Sunday 8pm, 5/5, we have room for one more team in Boys' Doubles, and we need one additional player to partner with a player who has no partner at this time. Girls have all 32 Singles players entered in Doubles.
- See Boys' Doubles or Girls' Doubles in Competitors for updated Doubles list and Doubles pairings.
- Check the Players list if you were selected by the selection process, or the Alternates list if you were selected as a placed Alternate.
- If you are listed as someone's partner, but you did not list that person, and you wish to play with that him/her, email atc@arlingtontx.gov to confirm. A player may have listed you, but we cannot assume you have agreed to play just because the player lists your name.
- If you listed someone as your partner, be sure he/she is in Doubles and has also listed you as a partner. We cannot assume the other player has agreed to play with you. He/she will need to confirm via email atc@arlingtontx.gov.
- If you listed someone who has not been selected to play in the tournament, discuss with that person the options (e.g., choose another partner, wait to see if the person you listed can get in Doubles).
- If you are in singles, but you are not listed as playing doubles, and you would like to play, email atc@arlingtontx.gov to be added to doubles, even if you do not have a specific partner. You can be partnered with someone at check-in.
- We can forward your request for a partner to a player, but we cannot give you the player's contact information.
- If you are an Alternate who is placed, be sure to indicate when you accept a spot in the tournament whether or not you want to be included in Doubles.
