PLAYER MATCH RESPONSIBILITIES - updated 7/11 7:30 pm
EVERYONE DID A GREAT JOB ON SATURDAY WITH ALL THE NEWNESS - WE APPRECIATE YOUR COOPERATION.
· All players check in 30 minutes before your
match through the Match Tennis App. Note: For the first rounds of the day or other rounds pre-assigned as if we were doing our normal shotgun start, you do not have to check in because it will tell you the match is in progress. The second round on Sunday will not be pre-assigned so you will need to check in on the app.
Make sure you have your badge visible around
your neck at all times. You will not be able to enter the court without it.
When you receive your court assignment text,
click the blue link to confirm as you walk to your court.
Depending on which bench you choose, you will
then be designated as home or visitor for the scorekeeping device.
·If you are home, you will use the brown marker
& the colored clothes pin.
If you are visitor, you will use the black
marker & the wooden clothes pin
At the end of your match BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE
COURT you must Raise your racket and wait for the official to
come to you. You will then report the score to the official.
After reporting the score to the official, both
players MUST enter the score on the Match Tennis App before leaving the court.
If you have to go to the bathroom during your
match, make sure to wear your mask/face covering while inside the building. If
you are on courts 9-34, the only way to the restroom is through the front door
of the building
REMEMBER TO SOCIAL DISTANCE, SOME OF YOU NEED TO WORK ON THIS.
PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO LEAVE THE PREMISES AFTER THEIR MATCH AND NOT GO WATCH OTHER PLAYERS.
PLUS ONE'S SHOULD ONLY BE WATCHING THEIR PLAYER. IF THERE ARE TWO PLAYERS ON THE COURT, THERE SHOULD ONLY BE TWO PLUS ONES WATCHING.
THE GOAL OF THIS TOURNAMENT IS TO PROVIDE A FACILITY FOR MATCHES TO BE PLAYED SAFELY SO KIDS CAN EARN RANKING POINTS, BUT WE ALL HAVE TO DO OUR PART TO NOT BE THE REASON TENNIS IS SHUT DOWN.
FACILITY SITE MAP
(New COVID-19 Procedures) Virtual Tournament Check-In **Required for All Players**
In response to the COVID-19, we will be using Match Tennis App’s Virtual Tournament Desk technology to help facilitate CDC best practices.
In order to compete in this event, all competitors MUST click the below link to fill out the check-in form, and sign the waiver for this tournament.
VIRTUAL TOURNAMENT DESK ***MANDATORY FOR ALL PLAYERS***
For the safety of all Tournament players, parents, coaches, and staff we will NOT be using a physical tournament desk where the social gathering is most common. We instead will be using Match Tennis App’s Virtual Tournament Desk to help facilitate CDC guidelines for social distancing. Please click the “more info” link to learn how we will be using VTD to keep you SAFE during the tournament:
WE ARE THANKFUL TO BE HOSTING A TOURNAMENT, BUT A LOT HAS CHANGED - Updated 7/9/20
Our Tournament and Facility Staffs are extremely THANKFUL to host this event and provide a venue for the Juniors to play tennis once again. We are diligently working to make sure we can provide a safe and organized venue to allow this tournament to be played for your benefit. Starting events during a pandemic is not easy. We are basically having to completely redo our operations after 17 years to comply with all agencies, including National, State, City, Health Department, and USTA. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
We will have very strict procedures to make sure we do not give any agency any reason to shut down our venue and possibly tournaments in general. This will be No Frills Tennis. Keep in mind, we all need to be thankful the reopening process has started and all of us must comply so we can continue with tournaments. Those of you who have been to Mobile before know we try to do everything we can to provide amenities for you. Due to the pandemic, all this has changed. Most of our funding will go towards Staffing, Officials, Walkie-Talkies and cleaning supplies :)
We expect 100% Compliance on all procedures from you - THIS TOURNAMENT AND FACILITY WILL NOT BE THE REASON TENNIS IS SHUT DOWN AGAIN!
Once we finalize our procedures, we will post them here. Until then these are a few things you should be aware of as you prepare for the tournament:
--All information will be posted on this Tournament Homepage so check it for any updates especially closer to tournament time.
--Please email if you need to contact us, email@example.com. We have three tournaments back to back, so please include the name of the tournament in your correspondence. Phone calls will almost be impossible to take or return, so email is best.
--After selections have been made, you must communicate your "Plus One," Contact Information, Hotel, and Medical Release/Waiver via email. The updated Alabama Waiver has been posted below.
--We will be using the Match Tennis App, more details to come but you should familiarize yourself with it. LINK AND TUTORIAL HAVE BEEN POSTED, YOU MUST USE THIS APP.
--To help with distancing, only the player plus one person will be allowed inside the gates. We are sorry if this inconveniences anyone but remember we are thankful we are allowed to play tennis and will do whatever we have to to stay open. The player and the plus one will be given a badge and will not be allowed in the facility without that badge. We will post an update about how these badges will be given out closer to tournament time. PLAYERS WILL BE GIVEN A BAG CONTAINING THEIR BADGE AND THE PLUS ONE BADGE AS THEY ENTER THE GATE FOR THEIR FIRST MATCH OF THE DAY. IF YOU HAVE NOT COMMUNICATED A PLUS ONE NAME BY THURSDAY NIGHT, THE PLAYER WILL ONLY HAVE HIS BADGE TO ENTER THE COURTS. WE HAVE BEEN ASKED IF BOTH PARENTS CAN COME AND SHARE THE BADGE WHILE ONE WAITS IN THE CAR - THIS DEFEATS THE PURPOSE! The purpose of only having a plus one is to limit the number of people in the facility thereby limiting potential exposure. We also have to have the designated plus one in case we have to make Corona related notifications per the Health Department. While we realize you may not understand all the reasons for policies and procedures, just trust that we are doing everything we are required and obligated to do for the safety of your kid. We honestly would love for you to bring your entire extended family, coaches, trainers, etc. to the City of Mobile as it is a huge economic impact; however this is not the goal right now. The Goal is to provide a tournament for your kid to earn ranking points SAFELY!
--Players must bring their own water, sports drinks, ice, and towels. There will be no water on the courts and you will not have access to the ice machines. We will have a concession stand selling Water, Powerade, and Bagged Ice. For now Cash is preferable as it will be quicker than credit cards. CONCESSION STAND WILL BE IN THE MAIN BUILDING, ACCESS THROUGH FRONT DOOR ONLY.
--Players must bring A BROWN SHARPIE AND A BLACK SHARPIE. At the beginning of the match, the official on court will open two cans of balls, one for each player. Each player will mark their name on their tennis balls with the agreed color. Players will only pick up their own tennis balls.
--Players must remove all of their belongings from the courts when the match is complete and be sure to place any garbage in the cans. We will not keep our normal lost and found of shirts, wristbands, water jugs, etc. Any items left on the court will be thrown away.
--Items that players and their plus one may want to bring for safety and distancing: your own seating, umbrellas for shade, disinfecting wipes and spray, hand sanitizer, and mask. CITY OF MOBILE NOW HAS A MASK ORDINANCE, YOU MUST WEAR A MASK INSIDE AT ALL TIMES AND OUTSIDE IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO SOCIAL DISTANCE. Players leaving the court to go to the restroom will have to wear a mask in the building so keep them handy.
--Match times will be staggered by a few minutes so officials can take the extra time to start the matches. Court assignments will be posted on the Court Assignment Board very early each morning. We will also have sheets posted in various locations with court assignments based on the match times. We will also attempt to post these times on line - another process we need to figure out and will update you closer to time. WE WILL USE THE MATCH TENNIS APP! TO COMMUNICATE COURT ASSIGNMENTS AS WELL AS POSTING ON SITE AND IN A DOCUMENT WITH A LINK ON THIS HOMEPAGE.
--There will be four tournament desks covering specific court groupings. We will post a diagram closer to time showing where the desks will be located. Your only way in to your court will be by these desks and the staff will only let you in with your badge.
THESE ARE THE SITES: A - Courts 9-19, B - Courts 20-34, C - Courts 35-44, D - Courts 45-60.
--Barricades will designate the four tournament "Sites" (tournament desk and specific court grouping) and Bathrooms. Anyone caught moving or jumping a barricade will result in a code violation for the player. We have to control entrances and exits properly to minimize any possible exposure. We will post diagrams closer to time so you will know what to expect upon arrival. Remember, we are thankful to be having a tournament.
--After a match is complete, the two players will remain on the court and the winner will raise his racquet notifying the official for that bank of courts to come get the score if the official has not already noticed the match ended. The official will call in the score to the desk and you will get your next match time from the draw on this site. THIS IS THE PROCEDURE WE WILL USE IN ADDITION TO PLAYER REPORTING THE SCORE ON THE MATCH TENNIS APP! Again sorry for the double work, but this is the procedure until we know all players are complying and using the app properly. Hopefully, we will see evidence of 100% compliance by Saturday and can just use the app Sunday and Monday.
--Once registration closes, there will be no refunds. We have to know you are committed to the tournament as we have lots of planning to do.
--Practice Courts will be updated in the section below soon.
We know this is a lot of change, some of it harsh and some of it may very well be overkill. However, we will remain thankful that we can offer a tournament and do everything we can to keep people safe so we can continue to offer tournaments. We need you to embrace the New 2020 version of tournaments so we can get your kids some ranking points. There will be many times you want to say this is stupid and ridiculous, but try to find the silver lining that a tournament is actually happening. Some of you may think we are not being protective enough - you will have to determine what your level of acceptable risk is as you are entering a public facility. You may not be ready to expose yourself, you will have to make that decision.
Basically the NEW 2020 VERSION OF TOURNAMENTS is GET IN, PLAY YOUR MATCH, AND GET OUT to keep everyone safe. We would prefer much more hospitality since that is what we are known for, but the "powers that be" will not permit it at this time. Let's get through 2020 and hopefully 2021 will bring back the Fun.
NEW for 2020. Players will not be required to play this event to be considered for the Southern Closed.
Alabama will still get it's Quota but that list will go straight down the Southern Standings. Players are strongly encouraged to still play this event as it is one of our only 2 Closed to Alabama Players National/Southern Event, an event with High Point values it can affect you gaining entry and/or your Seeding at the Southern Closed and other events during the year.

MATCH TENNIS APP!
We will be utilizing the Match Tennis App! for this tournament. More details will be coming soon.
You should know that we will use this app to Collect Waivers, Contact and Hotel Information; Communicate Match Court Assignments; Match Check In and Report Scores.
For this tournament we will probably be doing double work until we are sure EVERYONE is using the App properly such as having players report the score to the officials and the player entering the score in the app. This will be a learning curve for all of us and we want to keep any issues to a minimum.
PRACTICE COURTS - Updated 7/9/20
Friday - All 60 courts are available for practice, first come - first serve. Practice Safe Distancing and no congregating on the premises. Basically in the nicest way possible, we are saying get on the court, practice, and leave when you are done practicing.
Saturday and Sunday - All 60 courts are available for practice, first come - first served UNTIL 7:30 AM. AT 7:25 AM AN ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE MADE FOR YOU TO EXIT THE COURTS BY 7:30. EVERYONE MUST EXIT SO THE MAINTENANCE STAFF CAN SPRAY THE BENCHES BEFORE 8:00 MATCHES. AT 7:50 PLAYERS WILL COME THROUGH THE GATE OF THEIR SITE AND OBTAIN THEIR BAG WHICH INCLUDES THE BADGES. YOU WILL NEED YOUR BADGE FOR THE OFFICIAL TO LET YOU ON COURT.
We will have 8 practice courts open throughout the day. Some of you want to know if coaches or parents will be allowed on the practice courts, the answer is we will not know until the draws are made and we know exactly how many players are attending. For now plan on only players on the practice courts after 7:30 am. Bring your own practice balls marked with your initials. COACHES AND PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE PRACTICE COURTS AFTER 7:30 AM. There will be a staff person monitoring the practice courts. If it is slow, the players' plus one may be allowed on the court; staff will let you know at the practice courts. There will also be some slow times throughout the day at each of the "Sites." You can ask the desk person of your match site if there are any open courts for practice during non-peak times.
If you want to practice with a coach or parent, you can use the two other locations listed below before coming to the Mobile Tennis Center.
Monday, we will use fewer match courts so there should be plenty of practice courts throughout the day.
