*** Cupertino Junior Challenger Yellow Ball & 12 Novice Green Ball Tournament ***
This is a 30 minutes drive down 280 from San Francisco to Cupertino!!
This is an easy drive from the North Bay or Marin. Come play in Cupertino!!!
*** Contact the Tournament Director for any Issue or Concern ***
For any question about the tournament, please contact the Tournament Director by email at Jean@Hassoun.net.
*** Special Note for the Boys 12 Novices ***
The draw and schedule for the Boys 12 Novice event A were redone as we had two withdraws and we did not want to have too many matches cancelled.
Please check the posted draw again.
The final rounds (semis and final/playoffs) are now posted.
The top two players of each of the two round robin events will play each other after completion of those events.
At that time, the names on the final rounds draws will be replaced by the actual player names.
(The current names are just place holders until we know the actual winners).
*** Note about the 12 Novice Events ***
For 2014, the USTA NorCal rules define how those 12 novice events will be run:
Green balls will be used: those balls with a 75% pressure are much better for younger players. The players actually do not mind the difference as it only makes the balls bounce a bit lower.
The match format (for both doubles and singles) is one regular set (a set to 6 games with a 7 points tie-break at 6-6).
Participation in doubles is mandatory: all players will automatically be registered in doubles (unless we don't have enough players and then some will be left out).
The event format will be round-robin with two groups (A and B), with playoff matches (semis and final/playoff) between the top two players in each event.
==> Please check BOTH the doubles and singles events for your matches.
==> After the round-robin events, please check with the tournament desk if you qualified for the final rounds.
*** Check Your Draw Closely for your Site (for Each Match) ***
All draws are subject to change. Please recheck draws for changes in
time and or withdrawals. All changes made within 24 hrs of tournament
start will be phoned to the affected parties. Changes made more that 24
hrs before the tournament will be either phoned or emailed.
Make sure to have all contact info with the USTA as you register.
Remember that both players on a team must sign up for doubles before the deadline
*** Contact the Tournament Director for Registration Issues, Withdraws, ... ***
Until the closing of the registrations, you can withdraw yourself online with your confirmation number.
After closing of registration, and until the posting of the draws, please submit any withdrawal in writing first by emailing BOTH the Tournament Director (TD) and the Referee, and then also CALL the TD (email addresses and phone numbers above).
After the posting of the draws, please FIRST CALL the TD and then email BOTH the Tournament Director and the Referee.
Withdraws are sometimes necessary, and are only accepted as withdraws
(but will still receive two penalty points) if they are for illness,
injury, or emergency. Any other withdraws will be considered as refusal to play and will be penalized as such.
Withdrawals made before entries close can be handled by the player by going into your TennisLink record and deleting your entry..... Your credit card will not be charged. Withdrawals at least 7 days before play starts are eligible for a refund. That refund will be processed once the tournament receives their final tournament fees, about a week or two after play is complete. If you must withdraw after entries close, immediately contact the director by email Jean@Hassoun.net. If it is the day before matches begin (Friday) , or any of the tournament playing days, please ALSO phone the tournament immediately (408) 406-7325. Give your line number on the draw if you can. Speak slowly and clearly and spell the player name if necessary be sure to give a return phone number. For the 12 Novice events (green ball), we could limit the draws further, according to the USTA NorCal rules.
