USTA TOURNAMENTS IN ILLINOIS/STATEOF ILLINOIS DIRECTIVES
On July 29, Governor
Pritzker of Illinois issued a directive on youth sports that aims to minimize
the risk of the spread of Covid-19 by limiting gatherings at youth sport events
and interactions of players from different Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
regions. Even though tennis is identified as a low-risk activity, the State
feels that certain types of events include a heightened risk of exposure due to
the involvement of many more participants, family members and spectators. As
such, in order for USTA to host junior tournaments in Illinois, USTA will be
following strict Covid-19 safety protocols and making selections of players
based on EMS region.
