USTA Early Development (Green Ball) Competition Training Camp
The USTA would like to invite your 10 Under Green Ball Player to
train and compete in a 2020 USTA Early Development Competition
Training Camp.
Early Development Camps are the first step in the USTA Player
Development Pathway. These training's aim to provide 10 under
tennis tournament players from around the section an opportunity to
train with a team of USTA Middle States Player Development coaches
and earn progression points through Team Competition.
During this event the players will be divided into teams and the
coaches will coach their team throughout the competition.
We will be using the USTA National Curriculum titled
BECOMING AN OFFENSIVE PLAYER
The chosen Theme for this camp is TOUGH
USTA Player Development Coaches:
Bryan Nguyen (Lead Coach)
Seth Walrath (USTA Junior Development Staff).
Other Pros to be announced closer to the Camp's date.
The Schedule for November 22, 2020
945-10 am players check-in
10 am camps begins
10-1015 am Dynamic Warm Up: Skipping, heel kicks, side shuffles,
speed reaction, complex coordination, etc.
1015-11 am Technical/Game Development: drills that will cover use
of continental grip, point playing drills focused on taking
control, 5 ball control (depth, height, direction, speed,
spin)
11-1 pm Team Match play: The lead coach will split players into
even teams where they will compete against other teams in a
competitive singles and doubles format.
(Please note: A Parent Seminar will be included at each
camp.)
Space is limited to 16 players!
Our goal is to bring together local players currently competing in
the Youth Progression Pathway to practice and play together. Our
intention is to minimize travel and utilize our locally USTA
Trained highly-qualified coaches and create a positive fun team
atmosphere with each training and competition.
Green ball competencies expected for attendance:
* are able to sustain a 20 ball rally with coach at medium
pace
* are able to sustain a 10 ball rally with player of similar level
at medium pace with contact points between hip and shoulder
* are able to sustain a rally using slice off of both sides with
the continental grip
* using continental grip on volley, overheads and serves
* have a fundamental understanding of footwork patterns for closed,
open and semi-open stances and when to use them
Below you will find facility guidelines and reminders in addition
to the USTA return to play guidelines, player recommendations and
reminders that must be adhered to.
[Important Note - COVID-19]
- Depending on the number of registered players, Tournament
Directors reserve the right to cap the number of
participants.
- Tournament Directors reserve the right to ask you to leave the
facility if proper guidelines are not being followed.
- One chaperone can accompany a player to this indoor training and
tournament. This is at Tournament Director discretion.
MANDATORY: If a player or chaperone develops symptoms, you must
contact the Tournament Director at the event in which you
played.
Note: state and local government guidelines will be enforced.
