|
Format
Attention all players!!! The tournament format is a full feed in consolation thru the round of 16 and playoff matches for 3rd and 5th. Trophies will be awarded to 1st thru 6th. And the consolation winner will receive a medal. The match format is regular scoring 2 out of 3 sets with a 10 minute break between the 2nd and 3rd set where you may receive coaching. Consolation matches are best of 3 sets with a match tie in lieu of a third set. If the air quality gets bad then we may adjust formats. The forecast is good for the weekend. If you do split sets make sure to notify a referee and get new balls for the third. Good luck!

Concurrent Entry in Two Age Divisions of October 17-18 Singles Sectional Championship Permitted:
During this time of COVID-19 with limited opportunities to play high level tournaments, and for this Singles Sectional Championship ONLY, NorCal has decided to permit players to enter up to 2 age divisions of the October 17-18 Singles Sectional Championships. It is important that if you choose to do this, you understand the following:
• Selection will be done in descending division order: 18s, 16s, 14s, and then 12s. • Any player entered in 2 divisions that is not selected for the older division will be eligible for selection for the younger division. For example, if a player is entered in the 16s and 14s, is not selected for the 16s, and is selected for the 14s, that player will not be an alternate in the 16s. • If a player enters 2 divisions and is not accepted into any division, they will appear on the alternate lists of both divisions. • As a courtesy, any player who is an alternate in 2 divisions who is later accepted into a Singles Sectional Championship should remove themselves from the alternate list of the other Singles Sectional Championship. • Once a player is selected into a Singles Sectional Championships (including a player on 2 alternate lists that is later accepted), that player may not later withdraw from one Singles Sectionals to play in another Singles Sectionals without incurring a penalty. Players found to have done this will be assessed Suspension Points for improper withdrawal by USTA NorCal. • This exception is for entering up to 2 Singles Sectional Championships ONLY. Any player that enters 3 or more Singles Sectional Championships will be assessed Suspension Points for violation of the Concurrent Tournament Rule by USTA NorCal.
