Tournament postponed, possible reschedule date s Sept 26-27
Hi all players and parents, it is Friday the 11th at about 420p. After looking at many air quality forecasts for the weekend we have decided reschedule the event due to the bad forecasts. It is better to error on the side of safety and not hold players and parents hostage all weekend during bad air conditions. The East to West winds are blowing which is not helping. I am coordinating with the usta right now and are looking at a few dates to reschedule the event. Please check this section of the home page next week and more details will follow. I will most likely send out an email as well. you are released! have a great weekend!!

Air quality update
Hi all, It is Friday the 11th at 12p and the air quality is above 151 on purple air. The forecast for air quality is for moderate over the weekend. Currently the east to west wind is not helping. We are monitoring the air closely. At 6a on Saturday the 12th we will update this section of the home page with a possible delay. We will not cancel a day until 12p due to the rules. So do not come to any site until we give you the green light. Again please check this section of the home page before you do anything! Thanks for your patience and let’s hope the wind shifts to our favor!

Selection process and alternate list
A list was given to us by the usta last Friday with the current utr standings. An equal amount of boys and girls are picked if possible with a top down acceptance system. A numbered alternate list will be posted with the draws so you will know if you may have a chance being one of the top 2 or 3 alternates. Any questions on the list that we use for current utr standings should go to the norcal office of the usta. We will allow anyone on the alternate list to apply for another tournament and we will take you off the alternate list. Please be patient for you to be taken off the alternate list. As long as you email me to take you off of the list you will not be n violation of the concurrent rule if you can enter another tournament. Thanks for your patience and we are happy to provide as many great playing opportunities for your kids as we can!

Welcome to the Hunter Gallaways Tennis Academy Open UTR Championships
UTR Open Round Robins are tournaments that are based on UTR ratings. Players are divided by gender into groups of four based on UTR ratings only, and will play three singles over two days. Singles format is the best of three tiebreak sets with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of the third set. We will take possibly only 40 selections for this event unless we get another site. Currently we only have access to the Lafayette Tennis Club. Hundreds of players may be turned away.
Players will be selected using the most recently available weekly average Universal Tennis Ratings, except that if a player has a projected rating, the daily rating will be used. These same ratings will be used to flight players into 4-player round robin draws so that players with similar ratings are in each round robin draw.
Selection lists will be published no later than the Friday following the Monday entry deadline. In the event of a delay, the publication date will be published to the tournament website. Please note that NorCal does the selections.
We anticipate and expect the best of sportsmanship at all of our events. The NorCal Zero Tolerance Policy is in effect at all times during the tournament, at off-site locations, and on social media. Please do not be late to your match! Lateness penalties are in effect and will be applied if you are not ready to play at the time of your match. Please give yourself plenty of time to travel.
Player Communications Please note that ALL player communications should be done by email to the tournament director, Hunter Gallaway at hunterhg@comcast.net with a copy to the referee. Always best to email both of us so that you can be assured that your message is received.
If you must withdraw after entries are closed, please remember that the withdrawal must be excused. For an injury or illness, there must be a verifying medical note received by the last day of the tournament to excuse this withdrawal. For a personal circumstance, the reason must be explained in enough detail for the referee to make a determination if it can be excused. Please note that you should not enter this tournament (or any other tournament) if you cannot play it to completion. Because of the way this tournament has to be scheduled, we will not be able to honor any avoidances.

Thank you for your participation!
Hi all players and parents, thank you for your participation! Some parents expressed concern over the 6 game pro set format. After being rained out for half of the day on Saturday it was necessary to reduce the format because we only had 2 days to complete the event. If we had not reduced the format then many divisions and categories would have to be cancelled. also, some players and parents asked about switching the format back to 2 out of 3 sets for the finals. Unfortunately the format can't be changed back due to usta rules. It was a good decision to reduce the format to a 6 game set instead of a longer format because on Sunday you may not start a match past 6p and we barely made that deadline even with the reduced format. We also played till as late as the rules allowed on Saturday. Thanks to my staff for doing a great job squeegeeing on Saturday and thanks to all of the players and parents for your participation and compliments about my staff! Hope to see you at the next tournament with better weather! Also, this is our only tournament that is a 2 day even in 2016 and it was not by choice. Our tournaments always have large numbers and most all of the rest except younger player tournaments are 2 weekends or 3 days! Thanks again and refuse to lose!
