Alternate List - Updated Wednesday, August 28th

MANDATORY CHECK IN BY 9AM ON SATURDAY
Players must check in NO LATER THAN 9AM on Saturday, August 31st. You will need to go to the tournament desk and sign in. On-site alternates will start filling vacancies at 9:01 AM. Sunday CHECK-IN AND MATCHES will begin at 8 AM.

On-site Alternates
If you are an alternate, please sign in no later than 8:45AM. You
will be placed in order of UTR waterfall at selection. Top 2 in each age
division will probably have a good chance of participating.

Saturday Warm-up
There will be team warm ups Saturday at 9 A.M. after the check-in closes, Each team will be assigned 3 courts for warm-up.

ALTERNATES
If you are an alternate and you have entered in another tournament the weekend of August 31st, you MUST notify the tournament director to remove your name from the alternate list. If you withdraw from another tournament (after entries have closed) to play in this one, you will receive 5 suspension points.

WITHDRAWING?
If you are withdrawing, please email us immediately as there are several alternates waiting to get in. There are no refunds after Saturday, August 24th.

I recognize that tennis is a sport that places the responsibility for fair play on me. I promise to abide by the rules of the game, which require me to give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent. At all times I shall strive to compete with the true spirit of sportsmanship, recognizing that my behavior on the court is a direct reflection of my character. Whether this match ends with my victory or defeat, I promise to conduct myself in a way that honors my opponent(s), my team, those who support me, and the game of tennis.

**ENTERING IN A CONCURRENT TOURNAMENT**
Players are NOT permitted to play in the Jim Buck and another tournament that falls on either August 31 or September 1. If you violate this rule, you will receive suspension points and lose ranking points from all concurrent events. IF YOU ARE AN ALTERNATE AND YOU ENTER ANOTHER TOURNAMENT, YOU MUST TAKE YOUR NAME OFF THE ALTERNATE LIST RIGHT AWAY. YOU MAY NOT PULL OUT OF ANOTHER TOURNAMENT TO PLAY IN THIS ONE!

NO TIME REQUESTS
Players are expected to be available all day on both Saturday and Sunday. If you have a time issue, please do not enter as it will not be accommodated.

INTENDED MATCH SCHEDULE
We will begin with Doubles, then 6 Singles matches, then 6 more Singles matches. DAY 1: Match #1 then, Doubles of Match #2DAY 2: Singles of Match #2, then Match #3

MATCH FORMAT
Each team match will consist of 6 Boys Singles matches, 6 Girls Singles matches, and 6 Gender Doubles or Mixed Doubles matches for a total of 18 possible points. The team that wins the most matches will be declared the winning team. In the event of a 9-9 tie, one 10 point match tiebreak will be played. The tiebreak will be the opposite doubles of what was played in the match (if Gender Doubles was played for the match then the tiebreak will be Mixed Doubles, and vice versa). Players will decide amongst each other who will be the two players that will play the tiebreaker.

TIEBREAK PROCEDURES
The team that wins the most team matches will be declared the winning team. In the event there are two or more teams tied with the same win-loss record, the following procedure will be used to break the tie:
If there are two teams tied with the same win-loss record, the team that won the head-to-head match between those two teams will be declared the winner.
If three or more teams are tied, the following steps will be taken to break the tie (in order): 1. The head-to-head team record between just the tied teams 2. The total number of individual matches won by each team 3. The team with the highest percentage of sets won of all sets

GENDER DOUBLES OR MIXED??
Before each match, there will be a coin flip to determine if doubles will be gender or mixed (winning coin flip gets to choose). If there’s a tie in the end, the tiebreaker is a 10 point match tiebreak of the other doubles event (if gender was played, then mixed will be the tiebreaker and vice versa).

DOUBLES LINEUPS
For Gender Doubles, players 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 will play as teams. For Mixed Doubles B1&G1, B2&G2, B3&G3, etc. will play as teams.

SCORING FORMAT
SINGLES: 2 sets and a match tiebreak in lieu of a third, no-ad scoringDOUBLES: 6 game set, no-ad scoring

BRING LUNCH
In order to keep matches flowing, there will likely be no official lunch break so you will have to eat during your own match breaks. Please do not leave the facility to grab food.

WELCOME
Welcome to the 11th Annual Jim Buck Team Jr Tournament presented by USTA SoCal Jr Competition Committee. Please read all the information below as it has changed from 2018. Information may be updated periodically so please check back often.

SELECTION PROCESS
Selection will be made using the following method: 1. 20 players from the natural age division (week of 8/19 standings list will be used) 2. 3 players from the younger age division (must be in the top 20 of younger division to be considered) 3. 1 player with the next highest UTR 4. Any vacancies will be filled using step #1

RANKING POINTS STRUCTURE
Ranking points will be based on individual match wins and team finish. Team finish points will be added to your singles ranking. Tournament must be played to completion in order to receive team bonus points. Alternates' team bonus points will be prorated based on the round that they started the tournament.
INDIVIDUAL WIN POINTS (BASED ON POSITION PLAYED) Position #1: 200 points per match win Position #2: 150 points per match win Position #3: 100 points per match win Position #4: 80 points per match win Position #5 & #6: 50 points per match win
TEAM FINISH POINTS (IN ADDITION TO INDIVIDUAL POINTS) 1st Place: 400 points 2nd Place: 200 points 3rd Place: 100 points

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Wednesday, August 21, 2019 11:59:00 PM Pacific Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
