CHARITY TOURNAMENT
Tennis Fest 2019 will be a charity tennis event to support TEAM LUKE Hope for Minds (https://www.teamlukehopeforminds.org/about-us/).
Tim Siegel is arguably the most accomplished tennis player to originate from New Orleans playing and graduating from Archbishop Rummel High School in 1982, playing collegiate tennis for the Arkansas Razorbacks where he was twice named an All-American, and playing professionally before transitioning to the Head Coach for Texas Tech University for 23 years including 12 NCAA Championship appearances and a No. 19 national team ranking in his final year before retiring.
On July 28, 2015, Tim's then 9 year old son Luke was injured in a golf cart accident sustaining severe head and chest trauma resulting in anoxic brain injury. Luke's injuries were so severe that he is confined to a wheelchair unable to walk or talk and requires around-the-clock full-time care.
Tim and his family have since worked tirelessly to better Luke’s health and in 2017 founded the Team Luke Foundation to offer support to other families dealing with the aftermath of a traumatic brain injury. Their mission is to bring awareness and provide critical support and assistance to families with children who have suffered an anoxic or traumatic brain injury.
All proceeds raised at this year's event will go to the benefit of the TEAM LUKE Hope for Minds Foundation.
