Notes
Matches for this tournament will be held on Saturday, January
5 and Sunday, January 6 on all courts starting at 8 AM on both
days. Matches will not be scheduled on Friday, January 4, in an
effort to accommodate players' travel schedules.
Match Formats:
Main draw singles matches are best of three sets and a 10 point
match tie-break will be played for the third set. There is a 2
minute on court break if players split sets and coaching is not
allowed. Doubles and consolation singles matches are 8 game
pro-sets with an end of set tie-break played at 8-8. Singles
matches will be played with ad and doubles matches will be played
with no-ad scoring.
Player Check-In for Matches:
Players are requested to check-in at the tournament desk at least
15 minutes prior to each scheduled match. They should be prepared
to play at the time that they check in.
Consolation Singles:
In this tournament a consolation singles round is scheduled for
players who lose their first match. A goal of TRN National Showcase
tournaments is for all participants to compete in a minimum of two
singles matches and we hope that everyone will play their
consolation singles matches. If players do not participate in
scheduled consolation singles matches a default or walkover will be
recorded.
Practice Courts:
Players may reserve practice time for half an hour on Saturday,
January 5 and Sunday, January 6 from 7-7:30 AM or 7:30-8 AM through
the Reis front desk (607-254-8922). The charge is $5 per PLAYER.
When making a court reservation please mention that the reservation
is for the USTA tournament, indicate the names of all players on
the court and provide a cell phone contact number.
The only times during the tournament that courts are available for
practice are:
Saturday, January 5 from 7-8 AM
Sunday, January 6 from 7-8 AM
The practice times listed above are restricted to 30 minutes per
player with up to four players to a court. If there are open
courts players may sign up at the front desk that same morning for
an additional half hour.
Doubles Pairings:
All players must indicate their partner in the applicant list or
email abf11@cornell.edu to confirm their partner by Monday, 12/31
at 1 PM. We can forward email requests to other applicants who
haven't indicated partners yet. Once both players confirm that
they'll pair up it will be indicated in the competitor list.
Tournament held at Reis Tennis Center, home of the Cornell Men's
and Women's Tennis teams.
In this tournament a consolation singles round will be scheduled
for players who lose their first singles match, as long as we have
sufficient court space.
If you want to play doubles and don't have a partner you can send
an email to abf11@cornell.edu in advance and we'll be happy to
forward your partner request.
