TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW: Exciting news! The 2019 Flagstaff Open and
Junior tournament will again be held at the Northern Arizona
University Tennis Complex, with six indoor and six outdoor courts.
Hosted in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona, this annual event is a USTA
sanctioned tournament for all players. For adults divisions, there
are open, age-based, and NTRP singles, doubles, and mixed doubles
events. Wheelchair players are welcome and encouraged to join any
events based on NTRP level. For juniors, there are singles,
doubles, and mixed doubles events by age division (e.g., 18s, 16s,
14s, 12s ). The number of entries determines the draw type for a
given event, whenever time, weather, and facilities permit.
Best of all, the tournament is also the annual fundraiser for
the Flagstaff Tennis Association's tennis activities in the
community (including summer tennis camps for kids, and team
tennis). You choosing to play is a way of helping tennis grow in
our community! Adult men's and women's NTRP levels group draws
range includes 3.0 through 4.5 in singles, doubles and
mixed-doubles. There are also, open divisions in men's, women's and

frequent sunshine serve up excellent conditions for late
summer/early spring tennis in the Southwest U.S.

COURT SITES: Northern Arizona University
CHECK IN: There will be one tournament desk. Players must
check in at the tournament desk at least 30 minutes before their
MATCH DATES/TIMES: Check the draws in TennisLink
periodically to determine match dates/times. Each player is
responsible for showing up on time and following the draws to know
when they play and to identify any changes during the open.
PLAN NOW for Cost Effective Housing - Flagstaff,Az is an
expensive summer destination, so plan early to secure a place to
stay. You must stay Friday and Saturday night. Check out Air
B&B, VRBO and hotel prices as early as possible.
DRESS CODE: Per USTA SW Section policy, all players are
required to wear appropriate tennis attire. Cut off shorts, bare
midriffs, compression shorts & tights (alone), or any other
attire that is simply recreational and not tennis oriented are not
acceptable. The use of electronic wearable is not acceptable and
all players will be asked to remove them during play.
The draws will begin on June 16th, 2019 and posted no later than
Late Fee Players attempting to register past the posted
deadlines will be assessed a $10.00 late fee. The posting of draws
will not be held past the 48 hours deadline to accommodate players
attempting to register late.
If a player withdraws or defaults (for reason other than illness or
injury) from any sanctioned tournament in the Southwest Section
(L3-L6) after entries close, that player will be assessed 4
suspension points, unless medical documentation or the injury
or illness is provided to the Tournament Director AND Southwest
Section Junior Player Development Manager, within 48 hours after
the completion of the tournament.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must
be submitted by Friday June 14th, 2019 11:59 PM Arizona Time. Only

FOR JUNIOR PLAYERS - NEW!
All Junior players will have a gate card outside their assigned
court. Each player will be instructed what they are for and how
they will be displayed.
ALL Players will start their tennis match with the initiation of
a handshake prior to play. In an effort to promote "Good
Sportsmanship for all."
I recognize that tennis is a sport that places the responsibility
for fair play on me.
I promise to abide by the rules of the game, which require me to
give the benefit of the doubt to my opponent.
At all times I shall strive to complete with true spirit of
sportsmanship, recognizing that my behavior on the court is a
direct reflection of my character.
Whether this match ends with my victory or defeat, I promise to
conduct myself in a way that honors my opponents, my team, those
who support me, and the game of tennis
