Notes
Tournament draws and schedules have been posted.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND MIRABEL HAS NO LIGHTS and only four courts, so
this tournament has to be played during daylight hours. This
tournament will be aggressively scheduled to fit in all matches, so
please SHOW UP AT LEAST 30 MINUTES prior to your scheduled time of
play. We will be enforcing lateness defaults.
Last light is around 630 at Mirabel Golf Club, so all matches will
be played each day prior to that time.
PRACTICE COURTS: Are NOT available at Mirabel prior to the
event (sorry!!!). But if you're looking to get a hit in on clay
before the tournament, our buddies at Desert Highlands have agreed
to try and field player requests for court times.
There will be a court fee. Please contact ERIC ANDERSON at Desert
Highlands at 480-419-3651 to schedule a time.
GETTING TO THE FACILITY: Mirabel is located at 37100 N Mirabel Club
Drive in North Scottsdale. Mirabel is quite a ways out there (it is
near Desert Mountain facility if you've been there that's a good
barometer) so give yourself plenty of time to get there.
There is also a main gate which you will come through prior to
playing. Your name as a competitor will be on the player list, but
again give yourself extra time to handle that little chore prior to
playing.
Entry Fee Schedule:
Please note the sliding scale for tournament entry fee. The closer
you get to the deadline, the more the event will cost you.
* $50 for singles & $30 for doubles from June 20-July 15. *$55
for singles & $32.50 for doubles from July 16-August 15.
*$60 for singles & $35 for doubles from August 16-26.
ABOUT THE 2018 CLAY COURTS
This will be the first year of our Clay Court Championships being
held at the Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ, one of our top
clay court private facilities in the Southwest. If you played last
year's event at Desert Mountain, you will know the general
vicinity, as it is very near that location.
The Southwest Clay Courts is one of four surface Slam Series events
held for adults, meaning they are the highest point producing
tournaments for an age group ranking.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT: Format for this event will be best two of
three sets, with a 10-point tiebreaker for the third.
Singles scoring is regular (with ads), doubles scoring will be
no-ad.
Due to the limited number of courts and no lights available for
nighttime play, we will not be having consolation matches for this
event this year.
TOURNAMENT SURFACE: Green Har-Tru Clay - 4 courts (no
lights)
BEHAVIORAL ISSUES: Behavioral issues and unsportsmanlike
conduct at this tournament (by fans or players) will NOT be
tolerated and will be dealt with harshly (potentially double
defaults for both players or teams....and suspensions from USTA
tournament play).
This facility is accommodating our players, so we will not let
terrible behavior on the tennis court be accepted in ANY way.
