You will only be selected for one singles event. 1/8 of the applicants will be selected for the older division based on their younger standing, if it is in the top 40 in a selection of 32. If you absolutely do not want to play the younger division, do not register for it. You should only register for two singles divisions if you are willing to play either division.
- You may not enter a different age division in doubles than your singles.
- The Selection Process DOES include the selection of 1/8 from the Younger Age Group
- Baton Rouge is in the Central Time Zone
- CHECK THE INTERNET/TENNISLINK AND/OR DRAWS TO FIND YOUR NEXT MATCH TIME.
- Please read all of the information provided on the website. It is a lot to scroll through but will probably answer any questions you might have.
- Both Singles and Doubles times will be posted in the Future Match Info Report on 9/22 in the evening.
- On Wednesday, 9/21, PLEASE CHECK THE DOUBLES COMPETITORS LIST TO MAKE SURE YOUR PAIRING IS CORRECT
- Email any other questions to firstname.lastname@example.org - this is the best form of communication. With such a short amount of time between registration closing and the start of the tournament, answering and returning phone calls is nearly impossible. Emails can be answered much quicker and at any time during the day or night.
FORMAT OF PLAY:
Beginning January 1, 2012, all USTA Southern Level 3 tournament will adhere to a set and consistent format. Taking cost and school day factors into account, the Junior Competitive Committee has determined that the Level 3 tournaments will be conducted as follows:
- Singles Matches are only to be scheduled on Saturday and Sunday
-Each division will consist of two 16 feed in draws, with dependent draws
-The draws will be waterfalled to make two balanced draws.
-Each draw will use the new Level 3 Point table (increased points)
-Selections will remain the same as in the past. The top 32 players will be selected using the same process for bringing in the lower age division (four from the top 40)
-Until Wednesday prior to the tournament start date, alternates will fill in for any withdrawn player
-On Wednesday, the tournament director will split the 32 players into two balanced 16 draws using a format supplied by the Southern Office.
-Seeding must be done using the Southern Seeding Calculator
- After the draws are complete, the next alternate will fill a "withdrawal" spot no matter in which draw the withdrawal occurs.
-If a seeded player withdraws prior to 9:00 am local time the Friday before the tournament, the seeds shall be adjusted (only in that partciular draw) according to FAC.
-If the withdrawal occurs after 9:00 am local time the Friday before the tournament, the next alternate would be placed on the same line as the withdrawing seed.
- Out of Section players will be considered only after all of our Section players have been taken care of first.
-In the 12s division, four 10s division players will be selected by the Southern Guidelines to play in the 12U. These players will not be considered for seeding
-Players will be guaranteed three rounds most will have four.

-Two 16 feed in draws with dependent draws
-All single matches will be best out of three sets with a match tiebreak (10pt) to be used for third set
-If the number of entrants for a division is less than 24, one draw will be made using a modified back draw
-One draw of 16
Pro set (8 game) to be used
YOU MUST PLAY THE SAME DIVISION IN SINGLES AND DOUBLES
Per Southern Tennis Assoication Rules: You MUST play the same division in DOUBLES that you designated to play in SINGLES. PLEASE sign-up accordingly. Players signing up for TWO (2) singles divisions, PLEASE keep a close eye on your doubles status after the competitor list comes out. Thank you for your cooperation!
You can register without a partner. We will randomly pair anyone who does not have a partner. We do not have facebook for finding partners. Facebook has proven ineffective for finding a partner since a lot of people wait until the last minute to register for the tournament.
If you find a partner before 8:00 pm Tuesday (9/20) night, both players need to email me with your partner's name at email@example.com.
You may NOT enter a different age division in doubles than your singles. I know this is difficult when you register for two singles divisions and are not sure for which singles you will be selected. It is also a problem because your planned doubles partner may end up playing a different age division in singles and you will have to find a new partner.
When making the selections, we will only select doubles players in the same age division as their singles with or without a partner. Once selections are made, you can be added to the correct doubles age division - please email me to be added to the correct doubles age division. Also, doubles pairings can be made or changed by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please do not email/call asking for players contact information. Per USTA, Southern, and Louisiana Rules this is forbidden and we will not give ANY INFORMATION OUT.
Allowing you to register for doubles without a partner, gives you the opportunity to let others know you are interested in playing doubles increasing your chances of finding a partner. By allowing you to register for doubles without a partner, you have the added responsibility to notify us if you find a partner or you want to be withdrawn. If you do not have a partner or withdraw by 8:00 pm Tuesday (9/20), you are telling us you want to be randomly paired with a partner.
ORDER OF DOUBLES SELECTION
Players registered or
not registered for the singles tournament can register for doubles. But please
note that the selection for doubles is in the following order:
1. Teams with both players entered in the singles.
2. Teams with one player entered in singles and one alternate.

12 & UNDER GREEN BALL STA LEVEL 3 INFORMATION (Updated 2/17/2016 PER STA) :
As you are well aware, there has been an 11 & Under pilot ongoing to
help with the development of our players, by initiating a 11 & under Green
division. A benchmark was added to slow down the race to 12 & Under yellow,
again, for developmental purposes for the player. As of March 1, 2016, the USTA
Southern Junior Competition Committee is taking the next step. The “benchmark”
will be eliminated. Therefore, the following will take place:
* For events with deadlines past March 1, you will be able to enter 10 &
Under Orange, 11 & Under Green, or 12 & Under Yellow as long as player
is age eligible.
* Player will be able to enter two divisions ( 11 & Under as well as 10
& Under, 12 & under as well as 11 & Under etc). You will still only
play one divison however.
* Selection will be done as all selections for 12 thru 18’s.
* Bottom line, if you enter two divisions, you will be considered for the upper
division first and if not selected, then the lower division. You must play
* Selections will be based on the player’s standing.
* For those entering 11 & Under Green, the 12 & Under standing will be
used for selection until April 1st. At that time an 11 & Under
standing/ranking will be used.
* Draw size will be 16
* Now the choice will be left up to the coach/parent/player on what division to
enter. Please remember though, selection will be based on standings.
