Player Check-In
All players must check in at Cleveland Country Club Tennis Shop prior to their first match. Players will NOT be allowed on the court for their first match without their tournament t-shirt as proof they have check-in at the main site. If you are playing at Shelby High School for your first match, please allow an extra 30 minutes to check-in and get to the high school for your match. LATENESS PENALTIES WILL BE ENFORCED!!

Tournament Sites & Directions
CCC-C is Cleveland Country Club Clay Courts CCC-H is Cleveland Country Club Hard Courts SHS is Shelby High School (Directions from Cleveland Country Club: Turn right out of Cleveland Country Club Tennis parking lot. Go to stop light at corner, turn right onto Marion Street. Go to first light and turn right on NC 180 (Post Road). Go to 3rd light and turn right onto US 74. Go approximately 2 miles and turn left onto NC 150. At that intersection, you will see Shelby High School on your left, McDonald's on your left and Walgreens and Burger King on your right. Go to the second entrance into Shelby High School on your left. The tennis courts are located to the right of the football field and baseball field.

The CCTA Junior Classic is one of eight sanctioned USTA tournaments as part of the Cleveland County USTA Tournament Series. Our series sponsors are Cleveland Regional Medical Center, First National Bank and AmericInn Hotels & Suites.

DOUBLES
If you would like to play doubles please send an email by Wednesday at noon to scott@scoben.com, EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED FOR DOUBLES. In processing entries, we did not process the doubles so that players would not be charged for that event. We will have several doubles draws based on who has registered so far. The registrations that we already have for doubles are posted under competitors. If you would like to play, we will also find you a partner.

Tournament Scheduling
In scheduling the tournament matches, we will us the following principles: 1) If good weather is forecast for the entire weekend, every effort will be made to schedule all matches on Saturday and Sunday, 2) If inclement weather is forecast for either Saturday or Sunday, matches will begin on Friday beginning at 5pm, 3) Early morning or late matches will scheduled only as a last resort in which to complete the event.

QuickStart 8 & Under and 10 & Under
We will offer a QuickStart Tennis 8 & Under divison that will compete on the 36-foot court with the red/yellow felt regulation ball and a QuickStart 10 & Under division that will compete on the 60-foot court with the yellow/orange felt regulation ball. Both events will allow players to play numerous matches in a round-robin or compass draw format. All QuickStart matches will be played on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1pm. If you wish to play one or both of these events, you must register online and be a member of the USTA.

Scoring Formats
All 14 & under, 16 & under and 18 & under age divisions will be the best 2-of-3 tiebreak sets in the main draw and best 2-of-3 tiebreak sets with a match tiebreaker (10-point) in lieu of the third set. All 10 & under and 12 & under age divisions will be bets 2-of-3 sets with a match tiebreaker (10 point) in lieu of the third set for main draw and consolation matches. The QuickStart 8 & under division will play the best 2-of-3 seven (7) point tiebreakers in each match and the QuickStart 10 & under division will play the best 2-of-3 short sets (4-game sets) with a match tiebreaker (10-point) in lieu of the thrid set

New NCTA Policy on Juniors who Fail to Complete the Tournament
"The number of players not completing all matches in a tournament is very high. There are numerous withdrawals once the draws are posted, and many walkovers in the consolations. The penalty below is minor. However, those who consistently fail to complete a tournament will understand this is not acceptable. Failure to play a match is not fair to opponents, costly to an opponent, & not good sportsmanship. Because the NCTA realizes the importance of school to the players a school exempt clause is included. (passed by NCTA Board 10/09)
1.) After the tournament online deadline, failure for a JUNIOR player to complete a tournament for ANY reason other than retirement during a match due to injury = 1 Point,
2.) Players may receive 1 point for main draw, 1 point for consolation & 1 point for doubles= 3 points,
3.) Default No Show & Default Adult Discipline points will remain 5 points,
4.) Points are accumulative in the Junior Suspension points system,
5.) A notification letter is sent at 6 points,
6.) A 3 month suspension will occur when 10 points are reached
• Appeals at 10 points can be made to the grievance chairperson
• Inclusion under Unsportsmanlike Conduct in the junior Suspension points tab,
7.) To be exempt from the above, a player must notify the TD immediately at the conclusion of
his/her Sunday play that they will be attending school on Monday so will not be participating in
play Monday. TD will e-mail jane@nctennis.com those players who have requested this
exemption. Names to be sent Sunday night.

Directions to Cleveland Country Club (main site):
From Charlotte, Take Exit #10B (US 74) to Shelby. Go approximately 8 miles and turn right onto US 74 Business at the third light. There is a Hampton Inn on your right at that light. Go to the fourth light and turn left onto Country Club Road. The courts will be immediately on your left.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Monday, February 15, 2010 11:59:00 PM Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
