2005 NSWITE CANCELED: 8:30 AM EST; MONDAY, OCTOBER 31
After a weekend filled with more exhausting assessments of damage to Naples Bath & Tennis Club, rental units available, and the surrounding Naples community itself plus many hours spent in trying to come up with positive alternatives and alternative sites in Naples, the Management, with deep regret, must cancel the 2005 USTA National Senior Women's Intersectional Team Event. Even though the devastation and damage caused by Hurricane Wilma has forced us to make this difficult decision, it is our intention to repair and enhance the facility in order to host you and this prestigious Senior Women's Tennis event in the future. We also know that this late unavoidable decision has caused you some hardships, but hope that you will understand as we have tried very hard to be positive and keep you up to date at all times. Furthermore, we have a number of other women's national and ITF events coming up in 2006 and hope that you will be among the participants coming to Naples Bath & Tennis Club. Please direct all future communication to Zahava Abougzir, 1-800-225-9692, ext 23, as she will be the point person in resolving all refunds of entry fees and dinner guest fees. Thank you for understanding!

STATUS REPORT AS OF 5:00 PM EST, OCTOBER 28, 2005:
After all utilities have been restored, clean-up of debris and blown down trees is well underway, and the ability to determine and assess most all of the damage to the clubhouse and courts, the management of NBTC has not made a final decision concerning the tournament. Fences that have been blown down are a priority to get fixed; however, the companies performing this type of repair are backed up due to the hurricane. The electrical trade offering repair services is also backed up. The management team at Naples will be working through the weekend to repair damage to the wall next to the kitchen and inspect the roof itself. Contractors for the court repair will be on site over the weekend to assess the damage and let managment know how many courts they can get ready for the tournament and the time it will take. Reservations and housekeeping has begun surveying the rental units at Naples to assess damage if any before trying to find alternative accomodations at surrounding hotels. All this information is posted for your benefit with the understanding that NBTC will make a decision on Monday, October 31, as to whether they are able to be ready and host a National event that you as players are use to having in Naples. Management appreciates your patience in this matter.

STATUS OF TOURNAMENT AS OF 12:00 NOON; OCTOBER 28, 2006
Just called and spoke with NBTC; they now have electricity. I have tested their phone service and did get a recording that was previously available. Management is in the process of performing a full assessment now that all utilities are available. Part of the assessment involves a projected timeline of what is needed to be done as far as repairs to the courts and fencing in order put the club in a condition to host the 2005 NSWITE. Both Management and the owners have planned a conference call this afternoon in order to make a decision pertaining to the tournament. I will offer an immediate update at this website as I receive it.

STATUS OF TOURNAMENT AS OF 11:00 am on 10/27/2005:
Just received a call and NBTC now has water service. Electricity has been restore just to the north of the club, but as of this call, it has not been restored. I think that once electricity is restored, then phone service in and out should be available. Management will be calling me back this afternoon concerning another facility status report. I will offer updates at this website as I receive them.

STATUS OF TOURNAMENT AS OF 11:00 am on 10/26/2005:
Just talked to Naples Bath & Tennis Club management via cell phone. They are in the process of cleaning up the club area. They still do not have power or water; however, the only damage was caused by hurricane force winds. The courts were not effected too much other that wind damage to fences and light poles. Rain was not a factor at the club as far as damage. Presently, the club management and staff are working to clear the debris and trees that have been blown down, to restore both power and water as quickly as possible, to repair the fencing and light poles, and to get the operations back on track as soon as possible. AT THIS TIME, THE TOURNAMENT IS STILL ON TRACK AND EVERYONE IS WORKING TO GET READY! My intentions are to continually update the website as information is available. You can e-mail me at leichenbaum@hotmail.com and I will respond as soon as I have any information. Larry Eichenbaum
