Brunswick County Jr. Open - Cancelled on Sunday
The tennis committee and Referee have decided that due the current rain situation and weather forecast for today, it is best we cancell the balance of the tournament. I want to thank all the players who participated and apoligize to the players who did not get all their matches played. Thanks to all the dedicated parents who took their time to with their jr. players and put up with the rain delays. Please continue to support your kids tennis programs. Thanks again. Bob Cause

Tournament center moved from tent to picnic shelter
The tournament center will be at the picnic shelter at the other end of the court rather than in the tent next to the parking lot

The rain has come again so there will be two and 1/2 hour time delay Sunday morning. I will have an update at 10:00am.

Sunday Draws as of 10:45pm
The Sunday matches are posted. G14, B10, B12 consolation matches will be scheduled courtside if the time is blank, 6:00pm, or 6:30pm. All other times for main draw and consolation matches are set if there is no rain. See you in the morning.

Weather Update as of 2:30
Weather Update as of 2:20. If weather breaks the matches will resume at 4:00 with two blocks of courts playing. 1st block will be Byrd/Watts, Diemer/Cotuna,Basenger/Dimock,Frazier/Lindstrom,Stanfield/Barker. Block 2 Boys 12, Girls 12, Boys 14. First block will play at 4:00 Block 2 at 5:00. All other matches will be scheduled for Sunday and posted on home page by 10:00pm tonight.

We are under a rain delay until 2:30. At that point we will eithercontinue the matches or make a statement on the balance of today's matches.

New match times based on inclemant weather scoring
Attached is the new schedule as of 10:20 pm 3/22 based on short set scoring. Please review and be at the check in 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled match time. Consolation times will be posted at the court as matches progress.

Check match times due to change in scoring
Due to the inclement weather scoring there will be some changes in you match time. All Saturday 8:30 will start at 8:30. For planning purposes if your match was to start at 10:00, they will now move to 9:30. The 11:30 matches will move to 10:30. The 1:00 matches will now move to 11:30. The 230 matches will now move to 12:30. The 4:00 matches will move to 2:00 (there is 30 minutes of catch up time). Boys 18, Girls 14 semis plus stat of consolation rounds will start at 3:00. Additional consolaton and Boy's 18 will be at 4:00. Check on line for further updates.

Inclemant weather scoring to be used
Due to the high percentage of rain on Saturday and Sunday, inclement weather scoring will be used to get all the matched played. 10&U scoring will cosist of one (1) regular (6) game set win by 2 with a set tiebreak (first to seven (7) and win by two (2) at 6-6. There is AD scoring. There is a 30 minute rest period between matches. For the 12-18 age groups scoring will be two out of three short sets first to 4 win by two, with a set tie breaker (first to 7 and win by 2 at 4-4). There will be a 10 point, and win by 2, match tiebreakerused in lieu of a third set. There is AD scoring

Draw Limit
The draw limit is set at 16 for each age group. Only the first 16 eligible players will be put in the draw.

2013 NC 10U Rules and Regulations
The format of the 10U Draw will follow the NC 10U rules and regulations.
Requirement: Player must be a current USTA member. A player born in 2003 or later is eligible all year. A player born in 2002 is eligible until the last day of the month preceding their birth month when turning 11.
Racquets/Balls: The racquet must NOT be larger than 25". Low compression ORANGE balls will be used.
Court/Net: 60' long & 21' wide with a standard 3' tennis court net.
Scoring: Best of two short sets (first to 4 and win by 2), with a set tie break (first to 7 and win by 2) at 4-4 in each set, and a set tie break (first to 7 and win by 2) for the trhird set. Ad scoring.
Rest Period: One hour rest between matches. Maximum of 3 matches per day.
Changing Sides: During a set players will change sides after odd number of games. During a 3rd set tie breaker, players will change sides after every 6 points are played.

Scoring Format for 12&U and Up
Each match for divisions 12&U and above will be best two of three sets, with the third set being a 10 point tiebreaker. In case of inclement weather, the tournament referee will determine if short sets are required.

Please plan to register 15 minutes prior to your scheduled match time. Default time is 15 minutes after the scheduled match time. Gates at OIB open at 8:00am

Directions to Ocean Isle Beach Park
You can use the map link on the home page to find the map to Ocean Isle Beach Park (OIBP). Coming from the north, take Rt. 17 south toward Shallotte. You will pass a Harley-Davidson dealer and car dealer on the left and you will come to a traffic light. Go 2 miles from the traffic light and turn left on Ocean Isle Beach Road (there is a sign that reads "Airport- Ocean Isle Beach"). Go 1.8 miles and make a right on Old Georgetown Road SW. OIBP is 2 miles on the right.
Coming from the south, take Rt. 17 north. When you reach the intersection of Rt. 904 and Rt. 17 go 3 miles and you will make a right on Ocean Isle Beach Road (there is a sign that reads "Airport- Ocean Isle Beach"). Go 1.8 miles and make a right on Old Georgetown Road SW. OIBP is 2 miles on the right.

Tournament Benefits Local Groups
Any proceeds from the tournament will go to the Brunswick County Tennis Association. This non-profit local group promotes play for both Juniors and adult tennis players throughout Brunswick County.

Ocean Isle Beach Park
The park opened in 2010and offers the largest public tennis complex in Brunswick County. Located just a five minute drive to the island of Ocean Isle Beach. One of our sponsors, PaPa Johns, will be supplying pizza for lunch. We will have a listing at the tournament desk of places to eat. Water and snacks will be available both days for the players.

Balls used for the tournament
Only USTA approved balls will be used. Orange balls for 10&U, green balls for 12&U, and yellow balls for 14&U thru 18&U.

Awards
Awards will be presented to the winner, runner up, and winner of the consolation bracket.
|
Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Sunday, March 17, 2013 11:59:00 PM Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
