Match times changed for Saturday
Due to a late afternoon storm we have suspended play for the day on Friday. Some Saturday Match times have changed & players are responsible for checking their next match times. Also check your time frequently (in AM before showing up and later in the day) throughout the event. Throughout the event please check-in for matches 30 minutes prior to scheduled time, we may be able to start you earlier if courts are available and both players are present.

EXTREME HEAT change in set format for all 12-s thru 18's divisions
Due to the triple digit heat expected in the triangle during the tournament, we will be using a first to four games set format in all 12's thru 18's divisions with regular ad-scoring. The 10's divisions will use the same (original) first to four games set format.

DRAWS POSTED
The draws are posted for all divisions with exception of the co-ed 8's. We will use a round-robin format for the 8's in which each player will be guaranteed 3 matches. Have a Happy 4th of July and see you soon !

12 and unders to use GREEN DOT
As a level 4 event, all boys and girls 12 and under divisions will use the low compression GREEN DOT ball from WILSON.

The Cary Summer Championships is a level 4 event.

8 and unders to be conducted on Saturday morning July 7th
The Co-ed 8 and under event will start at 830am and (weather permitting) finish on Saturday morning July 7th. Rain date will be Sunday. Racket specs will be checked and must be no longer than 23"

Withdrawal/refunds
We are unable to offer refunds for withdrawals after the entry deadline of Sunday July 1st at 11:59pm. If you have registered for the event you may withdraw your player after the entry deadline (with no refund offered) prior to the commencement of the event by emailing the tournament director patrick.henson@townofcary.org) All withdrawls must be done by email.

Format and scoring for this event
The Format is a First Match Losers Consolation for the Boys and Girls (12's thru 18's). Draws are limited to 32 singles players. Matches in the 12's thru 18's will be the best of 3 (6 game) sets with a match tiebreaker in lieu of a third set. Regular game scoring will be used in the 12's thru 18's. The Boys and Girls 10 and unders will be playing a format in which every player is guaranteed a minimum of 3 matches. The scoring for matches in the 10's will consist of a best of 3 (4 game) tie-break (first to 7 points(win by two) if set score reaches 4-4) sets and a (first to 7 points, win by two) tie-break if necessary for a 3rd set. Regular game scoring will be used in the 10's. The 8's will play a round-robin in groups with the top performer in each group advancing to a playoff draw. The scoring for matches in the 8's will consist of best of 3 sets with a set won by first to 7 points.

Wilson-Official Ball for the 2012 Cary Summer Championships
Wilson is the official ball for the 2012 Cary Summer Championships. A Wilson US Open ball will be used in all divisions. The Wilson (60' orange) will be used in 10's play. The co-ed 8's will be using the Wilson (36' Red).

Player Tournament Check-in prior to Match check-in
On Friday July 6th registration will be available at the Cary Tennis Park from 7:30-10:30am. Any players scheduled to play their first match later on Saturday should leave extra time to register for the event prior to match check-in (please check-in for matches 30 minutes prior to scheduled time, it may be possible to start you earlier if courts are available and both players are present). All Co-ed 8 and under players plan to check-in by 8:15am on Saturday at the QuickStart courts located to the South of the Stadium Court. All 10 and under players plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your first scheduled time on Saturday to check-in for the event which precedes checking-in for the match. All Players must bring their medical release waiver to their first match and present waiver in checking in for play. You can prepare and sign the medical release document in advance by accessing it from the NC Tennis website (link tournaments)

Practice Courts
For the 10's thru 18's practice courts are available at the main site (Cary Tennis Park) between 7-745am on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. The (four) Co-ed 8 and under courts are available from 730a to 8:15a on Saturday on a first come first served basis. A hitting wall is located on site adjacent to court 15 and is open on a first come first served basis.

Water/ICE/Restrooms
For the main site water and ice are available on the courtyard level adjacent to the locker rooms. Restrooms are located at the main clubhouse courtyard level, and at two comfort stations on both the West and North sides of the facility. At the Middle Creek site all facilities and amenities are at the check-in desk.

Awards and Tee-shirts
Awards will be distributed to Main Draw Champions and Finalists, and Consolation Winners in the 10's thru 18's. Players in these divisions (10's thru 18's) will receive a Tee-Shirt upon receiving a signed Medical Release form at the tournament check-in pror to match check-in. All Co-ed 8 and under players will receive a token gift and the top 3 finishers will earn medals.

Seeding for the 2012 Cary Summer Championships
Seeds will be based on the most current NC Standing List. Juniors ranked in the top 10 in the lower age group may be considered for seeding if playing in a higher age division

Take exit #293A onto US 64 West / US 1 South (not north) Go 2 miles.
Take the exit on the right onto Cary Parkway. Go 5 miles.

Medical Release

Player Suspension Points
JUNIOR Suspension Points for Failure to Complete a Tournament
(1) After the tournament online deadline, failure for a JUNIOR player to complete a tournament for ANY reason other than retirement during a match due to injury = 1 Point
(2) Players may receive 1 point for main draw, 1 point for consolation & 1 point for doubles= 3 points
(3) Default No Show & Default Adult Discipline points will remain 5 points
(4) Points are accumulative in the Junior Suspension points system
(5) A notification letter is sent at 6 points
(6) A 3 month suspension will occur when 10 points are reached
• Appeals at 10 points can be made to the grievance chairperson
• Inclusion under Unsportsmanlike Conduct in the junior Suspension points tab
(7) To be exempt from the above, a player must notify the TD immediately at the conclusion of
his/her Sunday play that they will be attending school on Monday so will not be participating in
play Monday. TD will e-mail jane@nctennis.com those players who have requested this
exemption. Names to be sent Sunday night.

NCTA Rain Policy
NCTA Rain Policy for all sanctioned tournaments
1. Any division where play has begun – no refund
2. Any division where no play has begun – a partial refund after deductions for actual
expenses.
3. All completed scores must be reported. Incomplete matches are recorded as
ABANDONED( match started but Referee decided not to complete) matches.
Matches never started are recorded as UNPLAYED
4. It is at the discretion of the tournament committee if the entire tournament is canceled
due to inclement weather.

PARKING
Please keep in mind you cannot park on the street (Louis Stephens) for any reason and you may be ticketed. We have 3 lots available the largest is the lot directly across the street (green hope elementary) we also have our main lot and north lot with smaller capacities

Stringing service
Stringing service will be limited. Plan to re-string your frames the week before the event.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
