Winter Southern Closed Championships

Draws are now posted. Please make sure you check your TIME & SITE. We cannot help you if you show up at the wrong time at the wrong site. Sites and abbreviations are listed below.

This tournament starts early and ends late due to the amount of indoor courts and the addition of doubles a couple years ago. This is one of the things we deal with in this tournament and please remember that we will do our best to give everyone adequate rest (the 12 hour overnight is just a guideline by the way) BUT if you are playing doubles plan on an early morning as long as you are winning, regardless of when you finish your singles. We cannot forecast the winners of the tournament (if I could I would be typing this from the beach somewhere) so we dont know who will finish late and play early again. All we can do is schedule based on indoor court time.

WEATHER UPDATES !! While we dont have to worry about the weather affecting any indoor play, there are some concerns with some snow moving into Arkansas and Western Kentucky, with a possibility to hit the Louisville area. Please travel safe and we will post any updates with snow concerns on this website. Thanks everyone !!

CHECK IN will be at THE TENNIS CLUB AT SPRINGHURST Wednesday, Dec. 26th from 4:00-8:00pm. This check in is for all players but is not mandatory. If you are in town, we suggest that you register during this time to prevent delays on Thursday.

If you are arriving on Thursday, Dec. 27th, you may register at The Tennis Club at Springhurst starting at 7:00am.

You WILL NOT be allowed to play unless you have registered at Springhurst.

Practice courts will be available all day at The Tennis Club at Springhurst on December 26th for a cost of $25.00 per hour per court. These courts MUST be booked in advance by calling (502) 412-2950. Please specify that you are with the tournament.

During tournament play, The Tennis Club at Springhurst will be open at 6:30am each day of the tournament. We will have 8 courts reserved for tournament warmup and practice starting at 6:30am. We will have times available from 6:30-7:00, 7:00-7:30am, and 7:30-8:00am. Due to the limited practice courts, the warmups will be 4 players per court for $5.00 each. You must reserve your spots and PAY IN ADVANCE for the morning warmup times. We will only allow coaches and/or parents to take a spot on the court if space allows.

All alternate sites will be open by 7:30am each day of the matches. There will be NO ADVANCE booking of warmup courts at alternate sites through Springhurst. You must call those clubs directly.

College player, Alex Menzel is offering warmup and hitting sessions at the Louisville Boat Club (they have 4 indoor courts). Call him directly to schedule your practice session. His number is (502) 551-3463. $20.00 per 1/2 hour.

Other clubs may have court time available during the tournament for booking. You can call them directly. Rates and hours of operation vary by club. We have no control over other peoples business

Draws will be 64 with a Full Feed In through the Quarters and 3/4 playoff. Main Draw will be best two out of three tiebreak sets in Boys and Girls 14 & under. Boys and Girls 12 & under will be playing a 10 point match tiebreaker in lieu of a third set. Feed in will be best of three sets playing a 10 point tiebreak in lieu of a third set. Doubles is single elimination with an 8 game pro set with a match tiebreaker to be played at 8 all.

ALL withdrawal MUST be made by emailing Chris Mather at cmather@springhurst.com. DO NOT CALL WITH A WITHDRAW. WE MUST HAVE IT IN WRITING.

Withrawals on or before Dec 18th will receive a refund check of the entry fee. Withdrawals made AFTER Dec. 18th will not receive a refund.

All players must have a completed Medical Release form prior to play. Please click on the Tournament Reports - Medical Release Form at the top of the page, print and fill it out, and bring it with you to Tournament Check-in. This will make check-in quicker.

Seeding shall be done using only the results from most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of the division in the order in which players appear on the list.

In addition to the list, other criteria to consider:

• Players who have a standing in the next younger age division may be seeded in any group of seeds if they are in the top 10 of the most recently published USTA Southern Combined Standings Lists of any younger age division.

• Players with current top 50 USTA National standing, top 100 ITF ranking, top 1000 ATP or WTA rankings should be considered for seeding.

USRSA Certified Racquet Stringing will be available at The Tennis Club at Springhurst. We have a wide variety of strings available. Cost with your own string for tournament participants is $15.00.

The Official Ball is the USPTA PRO PENN CHAMPIONSHIP

The Winter Southern Closed is played INDOORS !! No threat of rain, hurricanes, snow or anything else that has been a huge factor in many outdoor tournaments !! Come to Louisville, sit back and enjoy the fact that all matches will be played as scheduled.

Ring in the New Year in Louisville and stay and play our Southern Level 3 right after the Winter Southern Closed. The Springhurst New Years Classic is Dec. 31st - Jan. 2nd !! Why make another trip this year when you can just stay and keep playing !! more info

This is a Southern Level 1-A and National Level 4 Tournament. You CANNOT enter Two (2) Divisions in a Southern Championship The Selection Process DOES NOT include the selection of 1/4 from the younger age group in a Southern Championship

Selections have been made for each division. If you are an alternate there is an ordered alternate list by clicking the list above. You will be contacted in this order if an opening occurs in the draw.

You CANNOT edit your registration to indicate a doubles partner after the deadline... please email me your partners information and I will put you together in the draw.

Late Entries will be accepted for any draws that are not full. Please email me your name, division, and contact phone number if you would like to enter.... at this point it seems that Boys & Girls 10s & 12s are still open but BG 14s are full.

Double check your doubles partner..click on Competitors and use the drop down box to pull up your doubles division.

You must register with a partner before Saturday December 22nd at 6:00pm. IF YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED WITH A PARTNER BY THIS TIME, YOU WILL BE TAKEN OUT OF THE DOUBLES DRAW !! Doubles will start at 8:00am Thursday morning Dec. 27th. If you are in need of a partner, please use our Facebook page to find a partner.

You must play doubles in the same division as you are playing singles !
