ALTERNATES - PLEASE
READ
We will not be updating the
alternate list anymore. If you are on the alternate list, are still
available to play, and want to know where you are on the list,
please e-mail Wendy Franz at franz@midlandtennis.com. If you have
not e-mailed us your contact information, we will not be able to
call you if a spot opens up and will go directly to the next player
on the list. IF YOU WANT TO BE AN 0N-SITE ALTERNATE - All players
on the alternate list are eligible to be on-site alternates. In
case of multiple on-site alternates, the order will be based on the
original Ordered Alternate List. All players wishing to be on-site
alternates must check-in at tournament desk no later than 9:30 a.m.
on Friday, November 25.
INDIVIDUAL FIRST MATCH
TIMES
Individual first match times can
be viewed by clicking on the link above under 'Tournament Reports'.
Please read the information below about the Thursday (Thanksgiving
Day) optional early registration period from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. If
you are not able to register on Thursday, you will need to see the
tournament desk on Friday morning at least one hour prior to your
first scheduled match. Signed Medical Waivers (see information
below) will be required from all players upon
registration.
FINAL DOUBLES REGISTRATION -
Doubles registration for this tournament will close at 8:00 p.m. on
Thursday, November 24. As a reminder, all players that are selected
into the singles event are eligible, and encouraged to play
doubles. If you need help finding a partner, please let us know
(see DOUBLES instructions below). Check the doubles list above
(under 'Tournament Reports') - if your name is not on that list and
you are planning to play doubles (we hope you are!), let us know
now, please.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 24 - OPTIONAL
EARLY PLAYER REGISTRATION
There is no player meeting
scheduled for this tournament, however, all players must officially
'register' for the tournament prior to their first scheduled match.
We will be offering an optional early registration period from 6:00
- 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 24. Upon registering, players
will need to provide a completed MEDICAL RELEASE FORM (we will have
these forms available at registration, but you can also click on
the link below to print out a copy of the form in advance and bring
it with you to the tournament or fax it beforehand to Wendy Franz
at 989-631-5532. We will also ask for local contact information and
the name of the hotel you are staying at. And, we will give you a
copy of the tournament program and your player t-shirt. IF YOU ARE
NOT ABLE TO REGISTER EARLY ON THURSDAY PLEASE SEE THE TOURNAMENT
DESK ON FRIDAY MORNING AT LEAST ONE HOUR PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST
SCHEDULED MATCH SO THAT WE CAN GET YOU PROPERLY REGISTERED FOR THE
TOURNAMENT.
TOURNAMENT PROGRAM - Each player
will receive a Tournament Program when they register for the
tournament. In lieu of a player meeting, this Tournament Program
will contain helpful and important tournament information, and each
player will be responsible for reading that information prior to
the start of the tournament.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16 - WE WILL
BEGIN TAKING PRACTICE COURT RESERVATIONS
Starting Wednesday, November 16,
we will begin taking reservations for practice courts. Reservations
can be made (AGAIN, NOT UNTIL WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16) by calling
989-631-6151. All reservations will require advance payment, so
credit card information will be required when reservations are made
(Visa, MasterCard or Discover). Practice court reservations will be
taken for Wednesday, Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) or Friday morning
before play begins at 10:00 a.m. (please see below for HOURS OF
OPERATION). Practice court rate is $20.00 per hour. There will not
be any refunds issued for late cancellations or no shows. PLAYERS -
Please make sure you bring your own practice balls - tennis center
hoppers and ball carts will not be available for player use. The
Wilson Extra Duty Hard Court tennis ball will be used for this
tournament.
HITTING PROS - Sorry--- we do not
have any hitting pros available for this tournament.

Quarterfinals and Semifinals, SINGLES FIC CONSOLATION DRAW Second
Round and Quarterfinal Qualifier, DOUBLES Semifinals. Sunday,
November 27: SINGLES MAIN DRAW Finals and Third-Fourth Playoff,
SINGLES FIC CONSOLATION DRAW Quarterfinals and Semifinals (the
Consolation Finals will not be played), DOUBLES Finals and
Third-Fourth Playoff.

HOURS OF OPERATION
All tournament matches will be
played at the Midland Community Tennis Center. Hours of operation
during the tournament are: Wednesday, November 23, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00
p.m. Thursday, November 24, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November
25, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 7:30 a.m. - 9:00
p.m. Sunday, November 26, 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
WITHDRAWALS
All tournament withdrawals must
be made in writing by e-mail to Wendy Franz, Tournament Director,
at franz@midlandtennis.com. Requests must include player name, USTA
number, a detailed reason for the withdrawal, mailing address, and
phone number. PLEASE NOTE - THERE WILL NOT BE ANY ENTRY FEE
REFUNDS, FOR ANY REASON, FOR WITHDRAWALS MADE AFTER NOON ON
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2011. All written verification should be
e-mailed to Wendy Franz, Tournament Director, at
franz@midlandtennis.com or faxed to 989-631-5532.
ALTERNATES
The list of ORDERERED ALTERNATES
looks a little daunting with so many players on it. VERY
IMPORTANT-If you want to remain on the alternate list, please send
an e-mail to Wendy Franz at franz@midlandtennis.com and give us ALL
of your current contact information so that we can contact you
immediately if a spot opens up for you. If we cannot contact you
quickly we will be forced to go to the next alternate on the list.
ALSO-Please remember that National Open alternates can be on
alternate lists for more than one site, and that some of these
alternates may get selected into another National Open site. Also,
some alternates may live so far away that they will not choose to
play in Midland even if a spot opens up for them. PLEASE… if you
need know you cannot play in Midland, or if you get selected for
another site, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can
take your name of our alternate list and keep it as accurate as
possible.

DOUBLES-PLEASE READ!
ALL players selected for the
singles event are eligible, AND ENCOURAGED, to play doubles. You
may or may not have signed up online, but it does not matter-- ALL
PLAYERS PLANNING TO PLAY DOUBLES need to e-mail Wendy Franz at
franz@midlandtennis.com to confirm your doubles participation. Once
we hear from you we will add your name to the CONFIRMED DOUBLES
PARTICIPANTS list posted under 'Tournament Reports'. If you need
help finding a partner, please let us know and we will do our best
to assist. For privacy reasons we do not give out contact
information for players unless authorized to do so by the player or
parent. If you would like us to send a request on to potential
doubles partners, please indicate in your e-mail that we have your
permission to forward your contact information. All doubles
pairings will need to be confirmed by Thursday, November 24,
2011.</.
DRESS CODE
Players will be expected to wear
appropriate tennis attire befitting a national level tournament
during all tennis matches. Any player not meeting the dress code
will be asked to change before going on the court. No tank tops or
sleeveless shirts that are not designed specifically for tennis by
sports manufacturers. Boxer shorts must not show above or below
shorts.
USTA NATIONAL LEVEL 2
TOURNAMENT
For ranking purposes, this is a
USTA National Level 2 Tournament. The DRAW SIZE will be 32 for
singles and 16 for doubles. This tournament will feature a feed-in
consolation (FIC) and a 3rd-4th place playoff for the singles draw.
The scoring format for Main Draw Singles will be the best of three
tiebreak sets. The scoring format for the FIC matches will be the
best of three tie-break sets with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu
of a 3rd set. Players losing in any main draw singles round through
the quarterfinals will be entered in the FIC. Play in the FIC is
mandatory, as is the 3rd-4th place playoff. Doubles scoring format
will be an 8-game pro-set with a match tiebreak (first to 10, ahead
by 2) at 8-games all. Doubles will be single elimination and will
have a 3rd-4th place playoff. All matches will be played at the
Midland Community Tennis Center/900 E. Wackerly Street/Midland,
