TWO SIGNIFICANT RULE CHANGES Regarding the 3-Minute Rest Period: Please stay on the court - do not leave. If you must use the bathroom, then immediately request permission from an umpire at the start of the 3-minute break - not at the end of it. Juniors receive a mandatory 3-minute rest period after the second set when a match-tiebreak is played in lieu of the third set. The player must stay on the court and coaching is permitted. Juniors in the Boys’ and Girls’ 18 Divisions receive a mandatory 10-minute rest period after the second set in a best of 3 set match. As usual, coaching is permitted.

TIMELINE/GUIDELINES/Things to Know ----posted 5-12 at 12:00pm There may very well be a quiz. So, be sure to read all. Know the "3-Minute" Rule ---see below. There is no "indoor backup". Bring your completed Medical Release form to your first match.. Match times will be posted late Friday afternoon, after 3:00pm. The official place to find match times will be on the posted draws at Hudlow Tennis Center and the First Match Time Report. Thus and this is important, each player must get his/her next round time from these Hudlow-posted draws before leaving the center. The on-line draws are NOT the place to find official match times. These draws, however, do have Saturday and Sunday match times that are strictly for planning purposes and are subject to change. There is no meeting. Tournament staff will be at Hudlow Tennis Center Friday from about 2:00pm to 8:00pm. Court ights stay on until 11:00pm. Tenative Schedule of Play Saturday: 9:00am, Boys singles and Girls doubles begin, About 11:30am, Girls singles begins,,About 6:30pm, Boys doubles begins Sunday: 9:00am, Doubles continues, About 11:00am, Girls singles resume, About 12:00pm, Boys singles resume, About 6:00pm, Doubles continues. ON-SITE ALTERNATE PROCEDURES ----posted 5-9 If you are an alternate and have not been admitted by late Friday, May 14, then you can be an on-site alternate. Alternates must sign-in at the tournament desk no later than 15 minutes prior to the FIRST scheduled match time (the draws will be published Friday afternoon) of the event for which they are an alternate. If a default or withdrawal creates a vacancy in the draw, then the alternate who has signed-in and is highest on the alternate list will fill the vacancy. Alternates may play doubles even if they are not admitted to singles.
Effective January 1, 2009, the procedure for accepting on-site alternates into the draw was rewritten for clarification as follows: On each day in which alternates may be accepted into a draw, any alternate desiring admittance must check-in and be ready for play no later than 15 minutes prior to the first scheduled match time of the event for which they are an alternate. The order of the alternate list is based on the original Alternate List published by the tournament, not a more recent National Standings List, and not in the order in which the players check in.
|

DOUBLES INFO/ENTRY PROCESS --POSTED 4-18, at 6:00pm DOUBLES: There is no way to know who is playing with whom, AND to compound matters, the system allows only 16 players, not teams to enter. All players who wish to play doubles must enter as described below. Doubles deadline is May 10. An e-mail (see the instructions below) confirmation of the doubles team is mandatory. We do NOT partner players. It is your job to find a partner, confirm the partnership, and then let us know via e-mail by May 10.. FINALLY, only one e-mail per team. Designate that player to be the one with better writing skills. And, do not expect a response. In summary, it does not matter if you did or did not register for doubles on-line. If you are playing doubles, then you must let us know via e-mail.
