TUESDAY'S MATCH OF THE DAY
Abhin Sharma of Alpharetta, Ga., the top seed in boys' singles of the National Open 12s at the Champions Club, had to rally from behind to claim a hard-fought, three-set triumph over No. 3 Bailey Showers of Bellaire, Texas, to earn the right to battle his doubles partner (Alexander Del Corral) for the singles gold. Bailey had lost twice previously to Sharma -- both times in straight sets -- but came out on fire and won the first set in a tie-break, 7-2. However, Sharma regained his composure and evened the match with a 6-2, second-set decision, before winning the match tie-break, 10-3.

MONDAY'S MATCH OF THE DAY
Noah Makarome, the fourth seed in boys' singles of the National Open 12s at the Champions Club, had a close, close, close call in joining the three higher seeds to advance to Tuesday's semifinals. In the boys' semis, Makarome goes against No. 2 seed Alexander Del Corral of Doral, Fla., and top seed Abhin Sharma of Alpharetta, Ga., tangles with No. 3 Bailey Showers of Bellaire, Texas. Both matches will be played Tuesday morning at 11.

SUNDAY'S MATCH OF THE DAY
Olivia Rohrbacher of Sandusky, Ohio, spent practically all day Sunday on the court at the Champions Club in the National Open 12s. Unseeded Rohrbacher, who lost in straight sets to No. 2 seed Elizabeth Norman of Indiana in Saturday's opener, bounced back Sunday morning to edge past Mya Fuentes of Miami, Fla., by 2-6, 7-6 (7-1), (10-5) in the consolation opener. But she was just getting started. In the afternoon, Olivia had another marathon challenge, holding off 10-year-old Richmond, Calif., standout Cali Fuller by 6-3, 2-6, (10-6). And then there was doubles! Olivia and partner Claire Refeis of Carmel, Ind., won twice, topping the Knoxville duo of Margaret Boatner and Sophia Cui, 8-1, before escaping Fuentes and Norman, 9-7.

All players who registered for the tournament, but who are not direct acceptance candidates, will be placed on the Alternate List. Any late applicants who have contacted the tournament will be placed in order of contact time, after all the current registered alternates. Players do not "jump the list" simply because they have a higher national ranking. The tournament's selection process is expected to begin Monday (June 7) or Tuesday (June 8).
|
IMPORTANT NOTE! PLEASE READ BEFORE ENTERING!!!
Due to a new policy from the legal department of the USTA, tournament directors will no longer have access to phone numbers and email addresses of the tournament participants unless the players re-enter their contact information at the time of event registeration. In other words, if a player does not enter his/her phone (home and cell) and email information each time they register for a tournament, the tournament director cannot contact them for any reason, including entrance and added info concerning the event. Your cooperation will ensure that tournaments can continue to communicate necessary information to you.

SIGN A MEDICAL RELEASE
All players must have a medical release signed by a parent or guardian at check in. Enclosed is a link for the Medical Release form.
