CONGRATULATIONS TO GRANT TAYLOR (Boy's 16's) AND ASHLEY TANNER (Girl's 18's) FOR BEING NAMED THE 2010 ITA SNOWBALL SPORTSMANSHIP WINNERS!!! This award is given to the boy and girl who best exemplified good sportsmanship throughout the tournament. They will each receive a new racquet bag from Wilson, a trophy and a congratulatory letter.

WELCOME TO THE 2010 INTERMOUNTAIN SNOWBALL SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, in partnership with the Utah Sports Commission. We look forward to a week of fabulous tennis and are excited to once again host this great event!

MANDATORY player check-in will be held on Friday, January 15th, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM at the Crystal Inn - located at 818 East Winchester Street, Murray - FINAL DRAWS AND MATCH LOCATIONS WILL BE GIVEN OUT AT THIS TIME!!!

UNTIL CHECK-IN, CHANGES IN THE DRAW CAN AND OFTEN DO OCCUR! Many draws will change as people drop out of events and are replaced by alternates. The draws are not final until you see the draws that are given out at check-in! The Utah Tennis Association office will be closed for the Holiday from 4:30 PM on Friday, January 15th, until 9:00 AM on Tuesday, January 19th. Draw information will not be available over the phone.

DOUBLES MATCHES WILL BEGIN AT 3:00 PM ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 15th. We will play TWO AND IF POSSIBLE THREE ROUNDS of doubles matches that day. We want to finish these doubles matches as early as possible. Please do not leave the site. We will be using a FOLLOWED BY method. Matches will be put back out on the court as soon as possible. Match times on draws are an estimate - you could go back on court mulch earlier!!! Friday's doubles matches will be played at Eccles Tennis Center, Sports Mall & Salt Lake Tennis Club. The remaining doubles matches will be played at your assigned sites. Please note that if you are playing doubles, you must sign up online with your partner. THERE WILL BE NO DOUBLES REGISTRATION AT CHECK-IN!!! PLEASE REGISTER BY THE DECEMBER 15th DEADLINE. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PLAY DOUBLES BUT DO NOT HAVE A PARTNER, YOU MAY CONTACT ME AT (801) 944-8782 x13 PRIOR TO THE DECEMBER 15th DEADLINE AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO PAIR YOU UP WITH A PARTNER. NO DOUBLES ENTRIES OR PARTNER REQUESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER DECEMBER 22nd. You must play in the same age division as you are playing singles. Your partner MUST be in the same age group as you. For example, if you are playing in the Boy's 14's singles division, your partner cannot be playing in the Boy's 16's singles division. Unfortunately, those types of requests cannot be accomodated due to potential scheduling conflicts. The Doubles format will be 8 game pro-sets, single elimination up until the finals. The final matches will be best 2 out of 3 sets, regular scoring, with a 7 Point Tiebreak at 6 games all. The doubles event is very important, especially for those players who are interested in playing college tennis.

If any one singles division has more than 64 players applying, acceptance will be based on the most recent ITA Standings for that particular division draw. The top 64 players APPLYING will be accepted. Players registering online and receiving a confirmation number are NOT guaranteed acceptance - this is only confirmation that registration was performed correctly. Due to the size of this event and the number of people coming from out of state, time avoidances are not available.

INTERMOUNTAIN SEEDING PROTOCOL - Seeding for all of the Intermountain Tournaments (Circuits and Sectionals) will be taken straight off of the current ITA Standing's Lists except if there is an exceptional player aging or playing up. An eceptional player is defined as a player listed in the top 100 of the most current National Standings List in the lower age division. This exceptional player will be CONSIDERED for seeding. DOUBLES SEEDS will be taken directly from the most recent ITA Individual Doubles Standings Lists. Partners ranks will be averaged and seeded accordingly. AS SHOWN ON PAGE 71 IN FRIEND AT COURT - Number of seeds. The number of players seeded shall equal a power of two (for example, 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32). The maximum ratio of players seeded shall be one in three, except that any draw may have two seeds.

Singles: All singles matches will be the best 2 out of 3 sets with a 7 Point Tiebreak at 6 games all. Doubles: 8 game prosets until the Finals. Finals will be the best 2 out of 3 sets with a 7 Point Tiebreak at 6 games all.

BOY'S 18's matches will be played at 2 locations, the Sports Mall - located at 5445 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, matches will also be played at the Eccles Tennis Center - located at 550 South Guardsman Way, Salt Lake City. GIRL'S 18's matches will be played at the Sports Mall - located at 5445 South 900 East, Salt Lake Cilty. BOY'S & GIRL'S 16's matches will be played at the Salt Lake Tennis Club - located at 2471 South 1700 East, Salt Lake City. Any 16's matches to be played on Wednesday the 20th will be played at the Sports Mall - located at 5445 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. BOY'S 14's matches will be played at the Eagleridge Tennis Club - located at 711 Parkway Drive, North Salt Lake. Any Boy's 14's matches to be played on Wednesday the 20th will be played at the Salt Lake Tennis Club - located at 2471 South 1700 East, Salt Lake City. GIRL'S 14's Matches will be played at the Ivory Ridge Tennis Club - located at 62 East Clubview Lane, Lehi. Any Girl's 14's matches to be played on Wednesday the 20th will be played at the Salt Lake Tennis Club - located at 2471 South 1700 East, Salt Lake City. BOY'S 12's matches will be played at Coach Mike's Tennis Academy - located at 1216 South Wasatch Drive, Salt Lake City, matches will also be played at Liberty Park - the entrance to Liberty Park is located at 650 East 900 South, Salt Lake City. Any Boy's 12's matches to be played on Wednesday the 20th will be played at the Salt Lake Tennis Club - located at 2471 South 1700 East, Salt Lake City. GIRL'S 12's matches will be played at Cottonwood Country Club - located at 1780 Lakewood Drive, Salt Lake City, on Saturday, Sunday & Monday. On Tuesday the Girl's 12's will play at Sports Mall - located at 5445 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Any Girl's 12's matches to be played on Wednesday the 20th will be played at the Salt Lake Tennis Club - located at 2471 South 1700 East, Salt Lake City.

ECC = Eccles Tennis Center, SM = Sports Mall, SLTC = Salt Lake Tennis Club, LP = Liberty Park, CM = Coach Mike's Tennis Academy, IR = Ivory Ridge Tennis Club, ER = Eagleridge Tennis Club, CCC = Cottonwood Country Club.

MAIN DRAW QUARTERFINALS AND SEMIFINALS WILL BE PLAYED ON MONDAY THE 18th. THE MAIN DRAW FINALS, AS WELL AS THE 3rd & 4th PLACE PLAYOFFS WILL BE PLAYED ON TUESDAY THE 19th AT YOUR ASSIGNED TOURNAMENT SITE. THE MAIN DRAW PORTION OF THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE FINISHED ON TUESDAY THE 19th. All Consolation Finals and most of the Consolation Semifinals (depending upon the size of your draw) will be played on Wednesday the 20th, the last day of the tournament. On Wednesday the 20th, the 12's & 14's Colsolation rounds will be played at Salt Lake Tennis Club - located at 2471 South 1700 East, Salt Lake City. The 16's & 18's will be played at the Sports Mall - located at 5445 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.

There will be a Video Taping Permission Form available at the tournament desks. Parents or guardians of tournament participants will need to fill this form out in order to be able to video tape anything that will include the other player. This form will require a parent or guardians consent and signature to allow video taping of the full court match. You of course can always video tape your own player, but for the protection of the other minor player, you will need to fill out the form prior to video taping anything that will include the other player.

Play will be subject to the rules of the USTA. The USTA Point Penalty System will be enforced throughout the tournament. NO UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT WILL BE TOLERATED!!! USTA Certified Umpires will be present at all playing locations.

All Tennis Players will be required to wear appropriate tennis attire and dress in a manner consistant with the facilities expectations as well as the expectations of a participant in the ITA Snowball Sectional Championships. Guys - no tank tops or very low riding shorts. Ladies - top and skirt should touch when checking in for your match. Questionable attire is subject to the Site Director's discretion.

We are expecting very frigid temperatures here in UtAh durinig this tournament. Matches will be played in bubbles at several of the tournament sites. The temperatures inside of the bubbles are fine for the players, but are cold for the spectators. Please - IF YOU WILL BE WATCHING A MATCH IN A BUBBLE - PLAN ON BRINGING A WARM COAT, BLANKET, ETC.

Please obey all rules and policies for the hotel and tennis venues. Anyone involved in any questionable conduct at guest facilities will be defaulted from the tournament. Please be respectful of others, be courteous to tournament staff and volunteers - an occasional thank you goes a long way! Please help to keep the tournament sitses clean by picking up your trash on the grounds and courts. THANK YOU!!!

Sportsmanship awards will be given to one boy and one girl for their outstanding behavior both on and off of the court.

Parking Notice: Please park in the parking lot directly East and across the road from the Eccles Tennis Center. There will be a $1.00 fee for the parking meter that will be good for all day. There is also parking along the street adjacent to the facility, the parking meters along the street need to be fed every 2 hours.

The Outdoor Retailers Convention is coming to Salt Lake City during the tournament and rooms are almost SOLD OUT. Also, the holiday weekend is a very crowded ski weekend and hotel rooms are normally filled to capacity with skiers. Please book your hotel rooms NOW!!! After the cut-off dates, and if the hotels still have rooms available, it will be at the full rate on a space-available basis.

The Tournament Host Hotel is the CRYSTAL INN. The CRYSTAL INN is located at 818 East Winchester Street, Murray. REGISTRATION WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE CRYSTAL INN. This hotel is right off of I-215. It is the closest hotel to the Sports Mall and Cottonwood Country Club, and has easy access to Salt Lake Tennis Club and Coach Mike's Tennis Academy. This hotel also has easy access to the belt route for quick driving times to the other tournament sites. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast buffet and light dinner, free airport shuttle, free high speed wireless internet, free morning paper, an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, an exercise facility, and in-room microwaves and refrigerators. Room Rates are $87.99/night, plus tax. Rate valid for room with 2 queen beds, or 1 king bed with a pull out sofa sleeper - all non-smoking. The CHASE SUITES HOTEL is located at 765 East 400 South. It is the closest hotel to Liberty Park and the Eccles Tennis Center. The Chase Suites offers one and two bedroom suites with full kitchens. They also offer a complimentary breakfast buffet and complimentary airport shuttle service. Room rates are $89.00 plus tax per night for a Studio Suite with 1 Queen and a Double pull-out couch, $129.00 plus tax per night for a 2 bedroom suite with 1 King and 1 Queen as well as the Double pull-out couch. The reservation cut-off date is December 31, 2009. The HAMPTON INN is located at 3576 North Maple Loop, Lehi. It is the closest hotel to the Ivory Ridge Tennis Club. It is located 18 miles South of Salt Lake City. They offer a continental breakfast with 1 hot item daily. Also offered is free high-speed internet access, microwaves, mini refrigerators and an indoor swimming pool and exercise room. They are located very close to Thanksgiving Point, The Dinosaur Museum, IDEA and Caabela's. Room rates are $84.00 plus tax per night. They have Double Queen rooms available. The cut-off date for reservations is January 8, 2010. Please reserve a room in the "SNOWBALL" block of rooms to receive the tournament rate. You may make reservations at (801) 766-1186.

The COTTONTREE INN is located at 1030 North 400 East, North Salt Lake, just off of I-15. This is the closest hotel to the Eagleridge Tennis Club. The CottonTree offers a full hot breakfast that includes a self serve waffle bar, eggs and sausage or biscuits and gravy, assorted bagels and cream cheese, juices, hot chocolate, coffee and tea. They also offer a complimentary airport shuttle, an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, and free high-speed wireless internet access. Room rates are $92.00 plus tax per night for a Double Queen non-smoking room. The reservation cut-off date is December 28, 2009. Reservations can be made by calling (801) 292-7666 and asking for the "SNOWBALL" block of rooms to receive the tournament rates. They will extend your group rate 3 days before and 3 days after the room block dates. Cancellation is 24 hours prior to the date of arrival to receive a refund.
