IMPORTANT UPDATED TOURNAMENT
INFORMATION
ON-SITE ALTERNATES: All players
on the alternate list are eligible to be on-site alternates. In
case of multiple on-site alternates, the order of selection will be
based on the original Ordered Alternate List. On-site alternates
must check-in with the tournament desk no later than 12:30 p.m. on
Thursday, November 25.
INDIVIDUAL FIRST MATCH TIMES-Can
be viewed by clicking on the link above.
PLAYER REGISTRATION -All players
will need to be officially registered with the tournament desk at
least one hour prior to their first scheduled match on Thursday. We
will need a medical release waiver signed by you and a parent or
legal guardian at the time of your check-in. To help speed this
process, please click on the link below to print the medical waiver
form and bring it to the tournament desk completed and signed. At
registration we will also obtain local contact information for your
stay in Midland, confirm doubles entries and help with any
last-minute pairings for those players who do not yet have
partners, and give you your tournament t-shirt, player tournament
booklet and other important tournament information.
TOURNAMENT DESK HOURS-The
tournament desk will be staffed on Wednesday, November 24 from
4:00-7:00 p.m. for players who would like to register early. The
tournament desk will open at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November
25.
DOUBLES-Doubles will start on
Thursday, November 25, after one round of singles (see Tentative
Schedule of Play below for details on tournament schedule). Two
rounds of doubles will be played on Thursday. If you plan to play
doubles and have not yet confirmed that with us, please e-mail
Wendy at franz@midlandtennis.com. All doubles partners should be
confirmed by the end of Wednesday, Thursday morning at the latest.

TOURNAMENT DRAW-THE DRAW WILL BE
POSTED BY 8:00 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 24.
THANKSGIVING DINNER-The dinner we
are having catered on Thanksgiving Day (see details below) is
available only by reservation, to be received no later than
Tuesday, November 23. If you would still like to try and take part
in this dinner, please call Wendy at 989-631-6151 for
availability.
IMPORTANT REQUEST FOR

If your name appears on the ordered alternate
list, AND you are still available to play, we need to hear from
you. Send all current contact information to Wendy Franz at
franz@midlandtennis.com. If a position becomes available but we
unable to reach you in a timely manner we will have to go on to the
next player on the list. We will update these lists as changes are
made so please continue to check this site. If you have accepted a
position into another National Open site, please let us know that
as well so that we can take your name off our list.
MEDICAL RELEASE FORM - All players need to have a
Medical Release Form (signed by the player and a parent or legal
guardian) on file with the tournament PRIOR to the player's first

PRACTICE COURTS AND HITTING
PARTNER REQUESTS
The tournament will officially
begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 25. Individual First Match
Times will be posted on this site by noon on Monday, November 22.
On Thursday, one round of singles will be played, followed by two
rounds of doubles. All doubles partners will need to be confirmed
by Wednesday, November 24 (please see information below). PRACTICE
COURTS-we are now accepting reservations for practice courts (For
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only. Practice courts for Friday
can be made once the tournament begins.) Please call 989-631-6151.
Practice court rate is $25.00 per hour and courts must be paid in
advance with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover). We will
not refund court fees for no shows and late cancellations. HITTING
SESSIONS-If you would like to schedule a hitting session with one
of our pros, please call 989-631-6151 and ask for Wendy, or e-mail
Wendy at franz@midlandtennis.com with your request
(day/time/length). We will call you back to confirm
availability.
RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15 FOR THANKSGIVING DINNER
On the first day of the
tournament, Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 25) the tennis
center will be closed to our members after 1:00 p.m. and the
facility will be used entirely for the tournament. We have 16
indoor courts, a spacious, newly remodeled mezzanine area,
large-screen television, comfortable seating and large locker
rooms. For the convenience of our players and their families and
coaches we will be catering a full Thanksgiving dinner buffet from
2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Cost is $15.00 per person. Hopefully, this will
allow everyone to enjoy a delicious holiday meal in a comfortable,
unrushed setting, and will also make it convenient for players, who
will be playing one round of singles and two rounds of doubles that
day (we hope you are planning to play doubles! Make sure you let us
know.). Singles matches are tentatively scheduled to begin at 1:00
p.m., and the first of the two rounds of doubles would begin at
approximately 5:30 p.m. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR THANKSGIVING
DINNER AND MUST BE PAID IN ADVANCE. Reservations must be received
by the end of the day on Monday, November 15. Please call
989-631-6151 to make your reservation. Visa, MasterCard or Discover
accepted. Holiday menu includes: roasted turkey, dressing, mashed
potatoes and gravy, baked ham, full salad bar including pasta salad
and fruit, vegetables, breads, beverages and dessert. It will be
delicious!
REQUEST FOR ALL DOUBLES
PLAYERS
ALL PLAYERS ACCEPTED INTO THE
SINGLES DRAWS ARE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY DOUBLES, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER
OR NOT YOU SIGNED UP ONLINE. In order to present an accurate list
of doubles entrants, ALL players who want to play doubles need to
send us an e-mail to confirm entry. When we receive your
confirmation, we will add your name to the list of doubles entrants
(EVEN if you signed up online, you still need to e-mail us to get
your name back on the current list that can be viewed by clicking
on the appropriate link above under "Tournament Reports"). If you
know who your partner is, please give us his name. If you need help
finding a partner, please let us know and we will do our best to
assist you. We will not give out player contact information unless
we have permission from the player or parent, but we would be happy
to forward your request to players if you give us permission to do
so. Doubles play will begin on the first day of the tournament
(Thursday, November 25) after one round of singles is completed.
Two rounds of doubles will be played on that first day. All doubles
entrants and teams need to be confirmed by Wednesday, November 24,
2010.
DRESS CODE
Proper tennis attire must be worn
during all tennis matches. Players wearing shirts with
objectionable print or design will be asked to change before going
on the court. Sleeveless shirts that are not designed specifically
for tennis by sports manufacturers will not be allowed. Boxer
shorts must not show above or below shorts.
PRO SHOP AND STRINGING
SERVICES
The Midland Community Tennis
Center has a nationally-recognized full-service pro shop,
"Advantage", that offers stringing, racquets, shoes, apparel, and
other items. The pro shop will be open during tournament hours.
Racquet stringing is $15.00 with your own string, prevailing rate
without. Personal stringing machines are not allowed in the tennis
center building.
USTA NATIONAL LEVEL 2
TOURNAMENT
For ranking purposes, this is a
USTA National Level 2 Tournament. The DRAW SIZE will be 64 for
singles and 32 teams for doubles. Scoring format for main draw
singles (including 3rd-4th place playoff) will be the best of three
tie-break sets with a set tiebreak (first to 7, ahead by 2) at
6-games all in any set. Scoring format for feed-in consolation will
be the best of three tiebreak sets with a 10-point match tiebreak
in lieu of a full third set. Doubles scoring format will be an
8-game pro set with a match tiebreak (first to 10, ahead by 2) at
8-games all. This tournament will feature a feed-in consolation
(FIC). Players losing in any main draw singles round through the
quarterfinals will be entered in the FIC. Play in the FIC is
mandatory, as is the 3rd-4th place playoff. Doubles will be single
elimination and will have a 3rd-4th place playoff. Doubles play
will begin on the first day of the tournament, after one round of
singles is completed. All matches will be played at the Midland
Community Tennis Center, on 16 indoor hard courts.

November 27: SINGLES CONSOLATION DRAW Third Round Qualifier and
Third Round, SINGLES MAIN DRAW Round of 16, DOUBLES Semifinals.
Sunday, November 28: SINGLES CONSOLATION DRAW Quarterfinal
Qualifier and Quarterfinals, SINGLES MAIN DRAW Quarterfinals and
Semifinals, DOUBLES Finals and 3rd-4th Place Playoff. Monday,
November 29: SINGLES CONSOLATION DRAW Semifinals and Finals,
SINGLES MAIN DRAW Finals and 3rd-4th Place Playoff.
