ON-SITE ALTERNATE PROCEDURES
If you are an alternate and have not been admitted by late Friday, May 21, then you can be an on-site alternate. Alternates must sign-in at the tournament desk no later than 15 minutes prior to the first scheduled match time of the event for which they are an alternate. If a default or withdrawal creates a vacancy in the draw, then the alternate who has signed-in and is highest on the alternate list will fill the vacancy. Alternates may play doubles even if they are not admitted to singles. Effective January 1, 2009, the procedure for accepting on-site alternates into the draw was rewritten for clarification as follows:
-On each day in which alternates may be accepted into a draw, any alternate desiring admittance must check-in and be ready for play no later than 15 minutes prior to the first scheduled match time of the event for which they are an alternate.
-The order of the alternate list is based on the original Alternate List published by the tournament, not a more recent National Standings List, and not in the order in which the players check in.
