PARKING PROBLEM on JULY 4th
The first day of the tournament is on the FOURTH OF JULY. Numerous large families visit this public park to celebrate the holiday and the parking lots get very crowded, so parking will be extremely difficult. PLEASE GIVE YOURSELF ENOUGH TRAVEL TIME TO FIND A PARKING SPOT. There are spots available in the neighborhood across the street if the parking lot is full. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

ALTERNATE SITE for DAY #1
Due to time constraints and court availability at EL Dorado Park, a few first and second round matches will be played at BILLIE JEAN KING TENNIS CENTER on DAY #1 ONLY. Billie Jean King Tennis Center is indicated as (BJK) on the draws & El Dorado Park Tennis Center is (ELD) on the draws. BJK Tennis Center is located 3 miles from the El Dorado Park Tennis Center.

DOUBLES INFO.........................
ALL PLAYERS wanting to play DOUBLES must sign-up before the end of the first day of the tournament, JULY 4, WHETHER OR NOT you registered for doubles online. We will have a Doubles Sign-up sheet available at the Tournament Desk. If you need a partner at sign up, we will try to help match you up with another player who needs a partner. The Doubles draw will consist of 32 teams max. ALL DOUBLES MATCHES ARE AN 8 GAME PRO SET WITH A MATCH TIE-BREAKER AT 8-8.

MEDICAL RELEASE FORM (important)
For ALL PLAYERS, the USTA requires a medical release form that is SIGNED BY THE PARENT or GUARDIAN. NOTE: A PLAYER’S COACH OR ANY OTHER ADULT WHO IS NOT THE LEGAL GUARDIAN MAY NOT SIGN THE RELEASE FOR THE PLAYER/PARENT. To help speed up the check in process, PLEASE click on “More Info” at the end of this message to print the form fill it out and bring it to the tournament. Players will not be allowed on-court without a signed release.

REFUNDS:
REFUND OF ENTRY FEES. EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2009, there are new rules related to the refund of entry fees. Injury or Illness Written Verification Requirement - If the player is not playing because of an injury or illness, the player shall deliver written verification of the injury or illness from a medical professional to the Referee no later that the last scheduled day of the tournament. Personal Emergency Written Verification Requirement - If the player is not playing because of a personal emergency, the player shall deliver a written account of the situation no later that the last scheduled day of the tournament and the Referee shall determine whether the situation is a personal emergency. In all other cases, a refund is not required.

AIRPORT INFO:
The Long Beach Airport (LGB) is 3.61 miles from the El Dorado Park Tennis Center. The Los Angeles Airport (LAX) is 24.2 miles through heavy traffic & John Wayne Airport (SNA) is 19.5 miles. If you can get a flight into Long Beach Airport, or John Wayne Airport would be a whole lot easier than LAX.

THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 2009 @ NOON EASTERN TIME. Those on the WEST COAST the deadline is 9:00 AM. Please do not miss the deadline and pay attention to what time the online registration closes. We will take LATE ENTRIES, but you will be placed at the END of the Alternate List in the order received. NO EXCEPTIONS.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Players are accepted into the draws and given preference in their choice of site in the following order: -1- Up to 32 players (up to 8 per draw) from the top 200 players on the most recently published National Standings List of the next-younger age division in the order in which their names appear on the list -2- Up to 224 players (up to 56 per draw) from the most recently published National Standings List for the age division of this tournament in the order in which their names appear on the list -3- Players not yet in the draw whose names appear on the most recently published National Standings List of the age division for this tournament in the order in which their names appear on the list -4- Players not yet in the draw whose names appear on the most recently published National Standings List of the next-younger age division in the order in which their names appear on the list 5) The remaining entrants in the order of the strength of their records. Players not selected for their first choice shall remain in the pool of applicants for entry into other concurrent USTA National Opens. Those players who have not been selected after all four USTA National Open draws have been filled shall be placed in alternate pools at all concurrent USTA National Opens for which the players indicated a preference.
