PLAYER MEETING AND REGISTRATION
PLAYER MEETING AND REGISTRATION
The player meeting will be at John Drew Smith Tennis Center Friday, May 16th @ 7 PM EST. All players must register for the tournament prior to playing their first match. Registration will take place only at John Drew Smith Tennis Center. Registration hours are Friday, May 16th from 4 - 7 pm EST or Saturday,May 17th from 7am-12 noon EST. After the initial registration, players should check-in at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled match at the assigned site. When a player checks in, it means that they are ready to play.

ALTERNATES
It is your responsibility to notify us if you plan to accept a spot in the draw if the opportunity arises. Send us email or cell numbers if you are near the top of the list, please!! If you wish to be removed from the alternate list it must be in writing, please email that request to maconten@bellsouth.net,
The Alternates by Event Report will be updated daily after entries close until the draws are posted. It is the alternates' responsibility to check the website to see if your alternate status has changed. The tournament will make every effort to contact you if your status does change to being in the tournament. Once an alternate is selected for play, payment is due immediately. WITHDRAWALS
If you need to withdraw before entries close, you must do it online. Click on edit registration, then withdraw. You will get a confirfimation number - KEEP THIS NUMBER! Without the confirmation number you will not have proof that you withdrew. All Withdrawals after entries close must be sent in writing by E-mail to maconten@bellsouth.net to the attention of Donna Bailey. Please be aware that if a player withdraws for any reason other than illness, injury, or a family emergency suspension points can be given to that player. Players withdrawing within 7 days of the tournament start date will not be refunded the entry fee. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN FOR WITHDRAWALS AFTER SATURDAY 5/10/2007 12 Midnight EST.

MEDICAL RELEASE
USTA requires a medical release SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN for every player. NOTE: A PLAYER'S COACH OR OTHER ADULT WHO IS NOT HE LEGAL GUARDIAN MAY NOT SIGN THE FORM FOR THE PLAYER. The form will be at the end of the confirmation email a player receives when they have been accepted into the tournament. This email should be printed by the parent or guardian, signed and brought to the tournament or alternatively this form can be faxed to us (478-477-0575) to speed up the registration process. PLAYERS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON-COURT WITHOUT THIS SIGNED RELEASE!

SELECTION PROCESS
Players are accepted into the draws and given preference in their choice of site in the following order:
1. Top 224 players applying from the latest USTA/National Standing List (Boys' or Girls' 14 singles) 2. Top 32 players ( 8 Per Draw ) ranked 200 or better applying from the USTA/National Standing List (Boys' or Girls 12 singles) 3. Remaining vacancies are filled by registered players from the USTA/National Standing List (Boys' or Girls' 14 Singles). 4. Remaining vacancies are filled by registered players from the USTA/National Standing List (Boys' or Girls' 12 Singles). Selections will be posted no later than May 3rd, 2008. The names of players who have been selected appear as 'Competitors'.

SCORING AND FORMAT
Singles Draw size will be 64 with a Feed-In Championship through the Quarters and 3/4 playoff. Singles Main Draw and Singles Feed in Championship will play the best two out of three tie-break sets. Doubles Draws will be a 32 single elimination with 3/4 playoff. Doubles will play 8 game Pro Set with a 10 point match tie break at 8 games all. On-line doubles registration is preferred however, for the players’ convenience, sign-up for doubles shall remain open until morning of ( 10 AM ) May 17th, and may be done by email, fax or on site. Doubles play will begin on Saturday, May 17th. In the event of inclement weather, match format is subject to change.

Tentative Daily Match Schedule
Saturday: 2 rounds main draw singles and one round consolation singles followed by doubles round of 32 and possibly round of 16.
Sunday: 1 round doubles* followed by 1 round of consolation singles, 1 round of main draw singles, then a 2nd round of consolation singles.
Monday 1 round doubles* followed by 1 round of consolation singles, 1 round of main draw singles, then a 2nd round of consolation singles.
Tuesday: 1 round doubles followed by 1 round of consolation singles, 1 round of main draw singles, then a 2nd round of consolation singles.
Wednesday: Singles Final, 3-4 Playoff, Consolation Final. 1 round doubles which includes final and 3/4 play off,* (if necessary)
(* If we have significant rain early in the day, morning doubles will be postponed until after singles on that day.)

DOUBLES
Doubles play begins on Saturday afternoon (May 17th). Please email your partner's name if known we will randomly assign unmatched players if possible. Deadline for doubles entry is Saturday, May 17th at 10 AM. We appreciate your help in doing this as soon as possible. Singles players and Singles alternates are eligible to enter the doubles event of a USTA National Open. A player may not enter one division in singles and a different division in doubles at sites where two divisions are held. No other players are eligible to play doubles.

MATCHES
Players will play two singles matches the first day and one doubles ( Saturday May 17th ).
Singles Main Draw and Singles Feed in Championship will play the best two out of three tie-break sets.
Doubles will play 8 game Pro Set with a 10 point match tie break at 8 games all.

USTA RULES AND REGULATIONS/THE Code
All players are expected to play by the code, and follow all USTA rules and regulations.
In matches without an official on court, players are expected to follow the CODE..If
you've never read it, please do so.

POINT PENALTY SYSTEM
Point penalty system is in effect for all match play.

ON SITE ALTERNATES
On Site Alternates must inform the Referee in person they are on-site. On-Site Alternates will be selected in the order of the Alternates List. On Site Alternates should be on-site when their age and gender check in for play.

DRESS CODE
Boys - No tank tops allowed, Girls - No bare midriffs allowed
|
TRAINER
There will be one trainer on site at John Drew Smith Tennis Center during matches. By law, trainers are not allowed to distribute medicine. Please bring your own Tylenol, Advil, Sinus medicine, etc.
If you have an injury or illness, we strongly suggest that you see the trainer. IF you need to withdraw due to an injury or illness, the process will be much smoother if we have confirmation from the trainer.
Remember that if you default due to an injury during the tournament, you must see the Head Referee in person or it will count as a "No-Show"

BALLS
Wilson balls will be used. New balls will be furnished for the third set.

This event is restricted to the following Jr. players: U.S. Citizens; Permanent Resident Aliens; Diplomats, Refugees/Asylees; CTA. Refer to USTA Regulation III.A.2a.

4 players are selected for each site from the most recent National Standings List of the next lower age division and 28 players are selected for each site from the age division of the event
Entry to this tournament is restricted. To see how entrants will be selected, follow the “Selection Process” link to the left. It is the player’s responsibility to check the selection list(s) after registering online to be sure that a check mark appears beside the player’s name on the list, in order to insure proper registration. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, April 24, 2008 12 Noon Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
