Laurel Springs School
Laurel Springs School noted for its exceptional distance learning programs for K-12 will be at registration and the College Tennis Showcase. Information on homeschooling and college placement will be available from this Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredited school. Weil Tennis Academy with its High Performance Tennis Program focused on Individual Player Development and College Tennis Placement will be present during registration and througout the tournament. Free 20 Minute Mental Toughness Talk by Dr. Jorge Valverde
Dr. Jorge Valverde, a renowned psychologist who has developed a specialized system to train the minds of tennis players in a positive and effective way, will be providing free 20-minute consultations (compliments of the Tournament) for players, parents and coaches during the tournament. In addition, Dr. Valverde will be giving two presentations at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort:
"Winning the Battle Within" - January 2, 7-8:30PM
"Breaking the Next Level Barriers" - January 3, 7-8:30PM
This is an excellent opportunity for players who want to develop mental toughness.
Dr. Valverde graduated from the University of Kansas with a Doctoral dissertation research on the mental preparation of highly ranked tennis players. He has served as sport psychologist for numerous tennis academies and universities throughout the US, Mexico, Poland, Spain and South America. He has also worked with many elite players such as Luke Jensen, French Open Doubles Champion, 1993; Anna Lenna Groenefeld, number one junior player in the world in 2003 and now ranked 18 in the WTA; Meghann Shaughnessy (who Dr. Valverde met at the Copper Bowl when she was 9 years old), ranked as high as 11 in the WTA, Timothy Neillly, Orange Bowl Boys 18s Champion, Tim Smyczek, singles Semi Finalist at Wimbledon 2005, Kim Couts, 2006 Girls 18s Easter Bowl Champion, Oksana Krutiyenko, 2006 Gator Bowl Girls 16s Champion, and Ashley Weinhold, #1 in USTA Girls' 14 Singles.

Players are selected manually by the tournament director after the close of registration.
Entry to this tournament is open to all USTA members, however, acceptance to the events is by Tournament Director selection only. Only USTA members can register online if available.
