SPORTSMANSHIP
Congratulations to our two sportsmanship winners, Lara Landers of Southlake and Andrew Klores of Franklin. Lara and Austin were chosen by the officials and site directors for their postive attitude on court, as well as their behavior off court toward, along with their interactions with other players and tournament staff. Both will receive Sportsmanship awards and be highlighted on the Texas Section website. DRAWS POSTED
DRAWS ARE NOW POSTED. Players who withdraw from Singles or Doubles after posting will receive 4 penalty points. Players who withdrew after the Texas Section began applicant reivew (after the deadline) were left in Consolation, with no match times indicated. Opponents will advance to the next round. ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to play in this event, players must be qualified in the appropriate age and gender divisions in Super Championship junior tennis in Texas, or they may be Out-of-Section players who have been approved IN ADVANCE BY THE TEXAS SECTION. Super Championship juniors may "play up" in the next higher Super Championship age division if they are in the final twelve months of their younger age division AND they were Super Championship qualified during their first twelve months of their younger age division. (Players endorsed within the "endorsement range" by the Section may also play up.) ZAT and Championship players may not play in Super Championship major zones. Note: The Tennislink on line registration system does not prohibit players from entering older age divisions. However, if players are determined to be ineligible by the Section office, the players will be removed from the event they entered and given the option of withdrawing (no penalty) or playing in the appropriate division.
|
ENTERING THE TOURNAMENT
Entering: Prior to registration, be sure you are eligible to enter this event, and review your USTA membership information. On-line entry is recommended for all players. Entries (with payment) will also be accepted via postal mail, fax and email, but entries must be in the hands of the tournament director by the deadline. (Note: on-line registration is the fastest and most secure means of entering our event. However, any issues with the on-line process should be directed to linkteam@usta.com. Remember to get a confirmation number at the end of your registration process. If you do not, contact LinkTeam.) The fee for this tournament is a flat fee of $40 for singles and doubles. REMEMBER, THE USTA TENNISLINK ON LINE REGISTRATION SYSTEM DOES NOT CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD UNTIL AFTER THE DEADLINE. Also, if you are entering doubles, be sure your partner has/will also enter. You must have your partner's USTA number when you enter doubles.
|
DEADLINE
NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED, AND THERE WILL BE NO WAITING LIST. The deadline for this tournament is July 28, 11:59 PM CST (in hands of Tournament Director). No late entries will be accepted. Immediately after the deadline, all events are reviewed by the Texas Section office, and once the process begins, players may not be added. Adding just one player to a division can move other players up or down from one draw to the other (see DRAWS paragraph below), and all player eligibility must be approved in advance. Substitutions (e.g., on site alternates) are also not allowed in Super Championship Major Zones.
|
ENTRY LIMITATIONS
Players at this event may play in only one singles and one doubles. Note that in doubles, only one player in a team must be Super Championship qualified in the age division entered, but no one may "play down" an age division.
|

(Teams with a bye may not play until Saturday.) Some draws may have two rounds scheduled Friday night. AGE ELIGIBLE PLAYERS MAY PLAY IN EITHER 16s OR 18s. PLAYERS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY IN THE SAME AGE DIVISION IN DOUBLES AND SINGLES. When entering doubles, note that your partner's USTA number is required at the time of on-line registration. Please do not enter doubles without verifying that your partner will/has also entered. Only one player in a team must be Super Championship qualified in the age division entered, but no one may "play down" an age division. Penalty points for withdrawing and no-shows apply to doubles, as well as singles. Medals will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams. See also ENTERING THE TOURNAMENT, LIMITATIONS, FORMATS and SCHEDULING.

TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN
We will open TOURNAMENT check-in on Friday night, August 18, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, at Arlington Tennis Center. ALL PLAYERS MUST CHECK IN FOR THE TOURNAMENT AT ARLINGTON TENNIS CENTER EITHER FRIDAY EVENING OR SATURDAY BEFORE 12 NOON TO RECEIVE PLAYER INFORMATION, DRAW COPIES AND A TOURNAMENT T-SHIRT. We will also need to get contact information (cell phones, etc.) at Tournament check in. The headquarters at ATC is expected to be very busy on Saturday once the tournament begins, so we encourage all players to check in on Friday, if possible. Players must check themselves in for the tournament (not parents, coaches, etc.).
|
MATCH CHECK-IN
MATCH CHECK-IN: Players must check in with the site directors at the scheduled sites for EACH MATCH at least 15-30 minutes prior to the scheduled match times. Remember, checking in for the Tournament is not checking in for matches, so remember to see the site director prior to EACH MATCH. MATCH TIMES: Players are responsible for obtaining their own match times from the website (prior to tournament) or from the site directors (once tournament begins). If in doubt, ASK. As with tournament check-in, players must check themselves in for matches, not parents, coaches, etc.
|
APPLICANTS and COMPETITORS
Applicants are persons who have entered the tournament via the on-line registration system or who have been batch entered by the tournament director. Competitors are persons who are scheduled to play in the tournament. Prior to the deadline, the Applicant list is the most current. After the deadline, see the Competitor list. Once the deadline has passed, the Applicant list is locked. Changes (see note on ineligible players) will be reflected on the Competitor list, not the Applicant list. Players who are not eligible to play in the event in which they have entered will be removed from the Competitor list and notified. Please see the Competitor list as it is updated.

FORMAT
SINGLES: All Singles divisions have a mandatory first match loser consolation. Boys' and Girls' 16-18s are best of three (two out of three) sets, regular scoring, with mandatory 2-minute set breaks between the 1st and 2nd sets. A 10-minute set break is also mandatory in Boys' and Girls' 16s if players split sets. (If alternative scoring is used due to weather [e.g., rain, heat], the 10-minute split set break will be eliminated, and a standard 2-minute set break will be taken, with no coaching allowed.) Boys' and Girls' 18s take only a 2-minute set break if they split sets ... no 10-minute break, and no coaching. DOUBLES: Single elimination. Boys' and Girls' 16s-18s are 8-game prosets, regular scoring with a tie-break at 8 games all.
|
SCHEDULE OF PLAY
For both singles and doubles, check draws for days, times and sites. SINGLES: Play for most Boys' and Girls' 16-18s are scheduled to begin Saturday morning, with the semis/finals played on Monday. Additional rounds may be played on Sunday to finish the tournament if 1) courts and staff are available, and 2) all players agree. Doubles may have two rounds scheduled per day Saturday through Sunday (if needed).

TEXAS HEAT!
Texas is HOT, especially in August! If heat is an issue, the Referee may choose to adopt alternative scoring (e.g., match tie-breaks in lieu of third set). Also, regarding rain, we have a "game plan" in place (even in August), but rain delays can sometimes involve changes in the best plans. We will update the website and the rain line 817-459-6166 every hour if rain is an issue. If in doubt, be prepared to play at your regularly scheduled time (or hurry up and wait to play). Also, in the event of rain, we may play late into the evening each day, including Monday. Please be prepared to stay, if necessary, to complete the tournament.
