“DEVELOPING THE TENNIS ATHLETE” PARENT AND PLAYER DINNER WITH USTA SPORTS SCIENCE COMMITTEE MEMBER, DR. W. BEN KIBLER. Saturday, August 5th at 6:30pm at the Crowne Plaza.

We are pleased to have W. Ben Kibler, MD FACSM, USTA Sports Science Committee Member and Medical Director of the Lexington Sports Medicine Center present an educational session for the parents, players and coaches of the players participating in the Girls' 12 Hard Court Tournament. The program will highlight different aspects of the medicine and science of tennis, focusing on injury and prevention in youth. Topics will include biomechanics of tennis strokes, core stability, recovery during matches and tournaments, and prevention programs. There will be a question and answer period immediately following the presentation. This session is designed to provide an educational update by reporting on the most recent concepts and science as each relates to the developing tennis athlete.

DRAW FORMAT / INFORMATION
The SINGLES event is a “Compass Draw,” which means ALL PLAYERS will play at least four singles matches (one each day), regardless of whether they win or lose. The DOUBLES tournament is single elimination.
The Singles Draw will be posted to the website and available on line on Friday morning, August 4th. Please report for each of your matches 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.

Players are selected from a designated Section or District ranking list.
Entry to this tournament is restricted. To see how entrants will be selected, follow the “Selection Process” link to the left. It is the player’s responsibility to check the selection list(s) after registering online to be sure that a check mark appears beside the player’s name on the list, in order to insure proper registration. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, July 13, 2006 12 Noon Eastern Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
