CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to all of our tournament players! Many of you were returning players from last year! This year's winner, Jade Frampton of Las Vega, NV, was #12 seed last year, and returned this year as the #1 seed. In the main draw, Frampton defeated #3 seed Kyle McPhillips of Willoughby, OH in the final round, 6-1, 6-4. In the main draw 3rd/4th Playoff, #4 seed Brianda Navarro of San Antonio, TX (and another returning player from last year) defeated #7 seed Alecia Kauss of Overland Park, KS in a three set match, 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-2. In consolation, the #6 seed Stephanie Do of Dallas, TX, and a five-year veteran of the National Open at ATC, defeated #2 seed Hayley Martin of Tulsa, OK in another grueling three-set match, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. In doubles, McPhillips and Martin, #1 seed, teamed to beat unseeded Kauss and Mimi Fotopoulos of Prairie Village, KS. Down 2-4, M&M came back to win 8-4. Frampton, McPhillips and Navarro will be accepted into singles in the USTA National Clay Court Championships in July. Martin, McPhillips, Kauss and Fotopoulos will be accepted into the doubles draw at the National Clay Courts and will be singles alternates (as a singles finalist, McPhillips qualified for singles). Congratulations, again, to all our players!

UPDATED DRAW INFORMATION
Draws have been updated as of 12 Noon on Friday, May 19. Please note that due to late withdrawals by both seeded and unseeded players, revision of draws was necessary to include placement of alternates, late entries and additional seeded players. In some cases, opponents and match times may have changed since original draws were posted, so please check for the latest draw on-line as of May 19 after 12 Noon (and also distributed at the Player Meeting). Seeding was also adjusted due to the withdrawal of seeded players. Remember that seeding for the tournament was primarily based on the NSLs for 14s (see full information below), along with NSLs for 12s and player records. Also, as suggested by the USTA Player Development Department, seeds 5-8 and 9-16 were seeded alphabetically, which required some adjustment up or down in the original seeds. If you have any questions, please email atc@ci.arlington.tx.us, and remember the mandatory player meeting on Friday evening.

ALTERNATES
Players who have not been selected after all four USTA National Open draws have been filled shall be placed in alternate pools at all concurrent USTA National Opens for which the players indicated a preference. Alternates will be ordered based on their national ranking points as of the date of the National Standing List used to select players into the tournament. Players of the next younger division shall be ordered based on their national ranking points as of the date of the NSL used to select players into the tournament and placed below the first group. Players who do not appear on either of the preceding NSLs will be ordered by lot and placed at the bottom of the list. The Alternates list will be published to the tournament homepage no more than days after entries close, and it will not change even if new NSLs are published. The Tournament Director will contact players as soon as a space is available, and acceptance in writing is required. Alternates accepted into the draw will be contacted with additional information, including the Medical Release, and to secure payment for their entries. If an alternate is contacted about available space in a tournament, the alternate may decline to play in a tournament. However, if an alternate accepts the invitation to play, the player may not withdraw to play in another National Open without following a specific procedure (contact tournament director). Note: The USTA on-line registration system does NOT charge credit cards unless a player is accepted in the tournament.
|
WITHDRAWAL SPECIAL NOTE
Players who are withdrawing due to illness, injury or personal emergency (the only bona vide reasons for withdrawal) are asked to do so as soon as possible so that alternates may be notified and have an opportunity to make travel arrangements. Also see note below on withdrawals.

Players who meet the U.S. citizenship or residency requirements, the USTA age eligibility requirements and membership requirements (current USTA membership) may enter. An amateur player with an ATP, WTA or ITF ranking is eligible to enter only if her name appears on the most recently published National Standings Lists used for selection as of the entry deadline.
|
DEADLINE
The deadline for this tournament is Thursday, April 27, 12 Noon EASTERN TIME.
|
ENTERING THE TOURNAMENT
All players are required to enter this event on-line through the USTA's TennisLink registration system because the selection process is done electronically. Players must indicate their preferred site or sites in priority order. Players are asked to list all sites to which they would be willing to travel. Note: The new entry process allows players to enter more than one age division. However, players may not play in one age division in Singles at a particular National Open, and another age division in Doubles at a different National Open.
|
CONFIRMATION OF ENTRY
Upon completion of the registration process, players will receive a confirmation number that indicates a successful registration. This number does NOT mean a player has been accepted into the tournament. Selection and acceptance notification occurs after the entry deadline. Players are responsible for checking the applicant list for their name and the selection process list for a checkmark next to their names to confirm successful completion of the registration process. Players who are unable to confirm their registrations within three to four hours after submitting registrations should email linkteam@usta.com. Remember, TennisLink does not charge credit cards until the selection is done. Players who are alternates will not be charged at the time of registration. Alternates who are later accepted into a tournament will need to pay their entry fee directly to the tournament. Players must indicate their preferred site or sites in priority order. Players may enter only one division. Please note: the confirmation number does NOT indicate the player has been accepted in the tournament.
|
SELECTION PROCESS
Selection into the Girls' 14 Singles division will be determined as follows in sequence:
1. Up to 224 (56 per draw) players applying from the USTA / National Standing List Girls’ 14 Singles; 2. Up to 32 (8 per draw) players ranked 200 or better applying from the USTA / National Standing List Girls’ 12 Singles; 3. (selection process). Players not selected for their first choice shall remain in the pool of applicants for entry into other concurrent USTA National Opens. Those players who have not been selected after all four USTA National Open draws have been filled shall be placed in alternate pools at all concurrent USTA National Opens for which the players indicted a preference.
|
NATIONAL STANDINGS LISTS (NSLs)
National Standings Lists (NSLs) are calculated using the national points per round ranking program and players earn their position on the list by their results at tournaments that the USTA has identified as National Ranking Tournaments. The (NSLs) are used as a tool by tournaments on the National Junior Tournament Schedule, including selecting players into limited draw tournaments, ordering alternates and as a guide for seeding. The NSLs are published at least monthly for each division. An NSL for a division will include all age eligible players who have played at least one National Ranking Tournament in the division and have accumulated at least one ranking point. National Ranking Tournaments include the USTA Junior National Championships, Regional Tournaments and ITF Tournaments on the National Junior Tournament Schedule and up to twelve Sectional tournaments designated by each Section. For more information, contact the competitive department at your Section office

All players accepted by the TennisLink system will be sent a confirmation email that includes as part of the text of the email the USTA Release and USTA Medical Release Form. |

Players may appear on more than one alternate list. Players who are alternates at a particular National Open site may also apply as a “late entry” to other USTA National Open sites no originally selected as a site preference. These “late entries” will be listed after other alternates by the date / time that the entries were received.
