Seeding Update
Seeding was done following the 2005 Edition of Friend at Court which reads, "The Committee shall consider all available evidence, including, but not limited to, rankings, current records, types of surface and PARTICULARLY HEAD-TO-HEAD encounters." We evaluated player records for matches played since January 2005, making adjustments where direct wins between adjacent players called for elevation of the winning player, and making some adjustments based on National point standing. While USTA National Standing was the sole criteria for selection for this event, it was only one of several criteria used in seeding. While it is easier to seed based on a single published standing list, it is not consistent with the rules of tennis set forth in the USTA Handbook of Tennis Rules and Regulations (Friend at Court). One change has been made in the #17 seed group, based on mis-reading the player records. Both players still have byes on Saturday.

Scheduling your stay.
Because of the 192-draw format, no player will be eliminated from singles until Monday. Doubles also has a layered consolation, which will ensure that everyone will have a match on Sunday, either singles, doubles, or both, if they so choose. We suggest that you make hotel reservations for the longest stay that you can imagine. It is often difficult to extend your stay when your daughter advances beyond your expectations. Additonally, rain can always be a factor in when you will actually leave.
|
Group Picture
Before, during, or after the Players' meeting on Friday, August 5, a professional photographer will take a group picture of the 2005 participants in tournament T-shirts. An order form will be in your player's packet.
