The Arlington Tennis Center tournament staff are pleased to announce that Alexander Kiefer (The Woodlands TX) was selected to receive the winner of the Clarence Mabry Sportsmanship Award, and Hannah Harrod (Austin TX) was chosen to receive the Nancy Jeffett Sportsmanship Award. During three days of play, throughout many matches in the intense heat, both Alexander and Hannah displayed outstanding sportsmanship on court, as well as great interaction off court with players, officials and tournament staff. They were enthusiastic about their own play, as well as respectful of their opponents. Congratulations Hannah and Alexander!

About the awards: Clarence Mabry and Nancy Jeffett Sportsmanship Awards
Inaugurated in 1990 and presented annually, these awards honor a Super Championship Boy and Girl for outstanding sportsmanship and fair play both on and off the court. Final selection is made by the tournament committee at each Super Championship Major Zone.

- We will post trivia questions to our ATC Facebook page three times during the day at specified times.
- Each posting will contain three questions - two tennis-related, and a third about Arlington!

As of 6:00 PM, Thursday, 8/11, draws are posted. Due to withdrawals, be sure to check the website regularly until your first match. Doubles players whose partners have withdrawn will be left solo in the tournament until their first match to give them time to find an eligible substitute (unless they email their withdrawal, as well).

Per regulation, as of 6:00 PM today (Thursday, August 11):
<> All withdrawals (received after 12:00 PM today) will remain in the draws as withdrawals.
<> No changes in singles seeding will be made.
<> No players will be moved from B singles draws to A singles draws.
<> No players will have positions adjusted to accommodate withdrawing in order to give byes to seeds.

First match information is now posted as a Tournament Report, located just below the INFO tab heading. THIS REPORT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS PLAYERS WITHDRAW! Just a few reminders:

A Draws
- As players in singles A draws withdraw, players (in Standing List order) will be moved from B draws to A draws through noon on Thursday, 8/11, unless the move will result in fewer than 16 players in the singles B draw from which the player would advance.
- If seeded players in singles A draws withdraw, seeding in singles A draws will also be adjusted through noon on Thursday. Adjustment of seeds may result in a change in position for other players in the singles A draw. If a draw position adjustment is required, the players will be chosen at random.
- Final singles A draws will be posted by 6:00 PM Thursday, after which time no additional adjustments singles A draws seeding, or in player draw position will be made.

B Draws
- As seeded players in singles B draws move to singles A draws, or as seeded players in singles B draws withdraw, adjustments in seeding in singles B draws will be made (within each draw) through noon on Thursday.
- Singles B draws will not be re-waved. The next player on the Standing List in that draw will be seeded.
- Adjustments in B draw seeding (for withdrawing seeded players or for players advancing to A draw) may require adjustments to other players' positions in the draws in order to allow byes to be assigned to new seeds, or to avoid 'double byes.' If a draw position adjustment is required, the players will be chosen at random.
- Opponents of non-seeded players in singles B draws who withdraw will simply be advanced. Adjustments (to give seeds the byes) in other players' positions in the draws will not be made if the withdrawing player is not seeded.
- Final singles B draws will be posted by 6:00 PM Thursday, after which time no additional adjustments in movement from singles B draws to singles A draws, in seeding, or in player draw position will be made.

Doubles will be posted Thursday with final Singles Draws
- Doubles players whose partners have withdrawn will be left solo in doubles (unless they also choose to withdraw) so that they may find an eligible replacement (sub must already be registered in the tournament in singles, but not doubles, and be registered in the correct age division).
- Doubles teams in B draws will not be moved to A draws as A draw teams withdraw, and no seeding adjustments will be made in any doubles draws.
- If a seeded team loses a player, the team will retain its original seeding position, regardless of the substitute's standing.

All sites are within 5-30 minutes of Arlington Tennis Center, as we are centrally located. We suggest that if you use GPS, type in the address, rather than the location name.

Note: If players or teams in the "A" draws withdraw prior to 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 11, players/teams from "B" draws may be moved into the "A" draws. We carry the latest in tennis racquets and other equipment, and we offer prompt stringing service. READ! All information below applies to players AND spectators, including dress code.- Alcoholic Beverages: Alcoholic Beverages are prohibited on the property (including the parking lot) at ATC. If alternate sites are used for this event, it is the responsibility of the player's guests (players are not age eligible for alcoholic beverages) to learn in advance the facility's policy regarding alcoholic beverages, and abide by those policies.
- Cell Phones: Please note that players and guests may NOT use cell phones on court or at the tournament desk. Turn them OFF. Spectators who use cell phones on the property should be mindful of whether their conversations interfere with tournament play (in which case, they will be asked to leave the area or turn the phone off) or normal business operations of the facility. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Dress Code: We require that players and spectators wear traditional attire appropriate for a family tennis environment. All guests (players and spectators) are required to wear shirts (including ladies wearing shirts over sports bras), with no bare stomachs / abdomens. Shorts and skirts should be of an appropriate length, as well. As determined by the Tournament Director, Referee and/or site managers, attire with offensive, suggestive or disrespectful images or language will not be allowed. Players and spectators who do not dress appropriately will be required to adjust their attire. The dress code applies to players and spectators at all sites throughout the tournament.
- Pets: Pets are prohibited in the Arlington Tennis Center proshop/building and inside the fenced areas around the courts. If alternate locations are used for the event, it is the player's responsibility to learn in advance any regulations at specific facilities regarding pets, and to abide by those policies.
- Smoking: Smoking is prohibited in the Arlington Tennis Center proshop/building and inside the fenced areas around the courts. If alternate locations are used for the event, it is the responsibility of age eligible players (or their guests) to learn in advance the smoking policies at specific facilities regarding smoking, and to abide by those policies.
- Spectators: We welcome spectators for this event! However, spectators are not allowed on court at any time, at any site.
- Water: Water coolers are not placed on court at Arlington Tennis Center or on alternate site courts. If playing at Arlington Tennis Center, a commercial ice machine and water fountain are located on the west patio and players and guests are also welcome to purchase bottled water, fountain drinks, sports drinks and juices in the proshop. In addition, while water will not be on court at the court at alternate sites, all alternate sites have ice and water (some have additional concession for purchase) available for players at those sites. Regardless, Players are encouraged to bring their own water to their matches.

Personal videotaping and photography are not allowed at any site, except persons who are videotaping 'their' player (parent, guardian or person designated by the parent/guardian) from a non-distracting position off court OR persons designated by the tournament staff to photograph or videotape aspects of the tournament for use in print or on public websites. Personal videotaping equipment may not be affixed to any facility property, including fencing. The umpire or tournament staff may direct the videotaping or photography to stop if it is determined that the action is interfering or distracting to either player.

The Texas Rangers will be hosting the Detroit Tigers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and the Oakland Athletics on Monday, August 12-15. The time of the game may not affect your travel time, but we encourage you to plan ahead with regard to traffic, as well as possible hotel reservations, as baseball fans may book a day ahead of the game.

Each player's Universal Tennis Rating will be pulled from the system between 12 Noon - 4PM on Wednesday, August 3rd. The UTR's pulled from this time period will be used for the entire pre-tournament process including splitting, seeding, pairing doubles teams, and replacing players.

- This tournament is for qualified Texas Super Championship resident junior players and approved out-of-section players ONLY.
- Out-of-Section applications must be submitted to the Section office two weeks prior to the entry deadline.
- Approved out-of-section players must register for the tournament before entry deadline.
- To be eligible to play in this event, players must be qualified in the appropriate age and gender divisions in Super Championship junior tennis in Texas.
- Super Championship players may play up in Super Championship major zones.
- Players must compete in the same age division in Singles and Doubles.
- Players may compete in only one Singles and one Doubles event.
- In Doubles, at least one member of each Doubles team must be qualified in Super Championship (and both must be age eligible).
- Challenger and Championship players may not play in Singles divisions of Super Championship major zones, but the may play in Doubles divisions if their partner is eligible.
- Players may register for only one SCMZ each month.

- The fee for this tournament is a $55 flat fee (plus TennisLink non-refundable fees).

- Players may register with or without a partner.
- Those who register with a partner must indicate their partner through the online registration system before the entry deadline.
- Players will need to correctly identify their doubles partner during their initial registration process or they may go back later, prior to the entry deadline, and “Edit Registration” to indicate their partner of choice.
- Correct doubles registration is the player’s responsibility. Immediately after registering, players need to check the Applicant List to ensure they are registered with their partner of choice (and their partner is also registered with them).
- Tournament Directors will not accept any request for changes in doubles partners at any time.
- Players who sign up for doubles as individuals will be paired up with another individual based on their UTR.
- Players must compete in the same age division for singles and doubles.

The deadline is firm. ABSOLUTELY NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. SCMZs do not have waiting lists, and substitutions are not allowed in Singles.

- Applicants are players who register for the tournament. Competitors are players who will play in the tournament.
- Players who enter on-line will appear on the list of Applicants.
- Prior to the deadline, the Applicants list is the most up to date list of players.
- If you do not see your name on the Applicants list within a few minutes after your on-line entry is complete, and you have a confirmation number, contact linkteam@usta.com.
- After the deadline (within 24 hours), the Competitor list will reflect all players who are entered in the tournament. The Competitor list is subject to change based on eligibility and withdrawals prior to draws being posted.
- The Competitor list may be updated if players are removed from the tournament (e.g., ineligible).
- If you withdraw before the deadline, your name should be removed from the Applicants list. If you withdraw before the deadline, and your name is still on the Applicants list (remember to refresh), contact linkteam@usta.com.
- If you withdraw after the deadline (and before draws are completed), your name WILL STILL APPEAR on the Applicants list. We cannot remove your name from the Applicants list after the deadline.
- If you withdraw after the final draws are posted, your name will not be removed from the Competitor list.

Only first match times and site locations will be posted on the Tuesday prior to the start of the tournament. Draws will be posted by 6:00 PM on the Thursday prior to the start of the tournament. Due to A draw players receiving higher sectional and /or national points for these tournaments, players will be moved from the B draw to the A draw to replace A draw withdrawals based on "Friend at Court" regulations. Tournament Directors will make draw changes due to withdrawals until the prior Thursday at noon. Again, final draws will be published by 6:00 PM on the Thursday prior to the start of the tournament. All players are responsible for re-checking their draw after Thursday at 6:00 PM to make sure their time and location have not changed.

- Withdrawals before the tournament deadline should be done through the on-line registration system by editing registration. No penalties are assessed if withdrawals are done before the tournament deadline.
- Penalties will be assessed automatically regarding withdrawals after the deadline. See Junior Know the Rules.
- WITHDRAWALS AFTER THE TOURNAMENT DEADLINE MUST BE DONE IN WRITING VIA EMAIL TO atc@arlingtontx.gov, with a valid reason specified.
- Include name, age division and draw (e.g., name/color) and indicate if the withdrawal is for Singles, Doubles or both.
- Players may withdraw from Singles or Doubles only, and still play in the other event. However, players must be very clear in the email communication that they are withdrawing from Singles, Doubles, or both.
- If players withdraw before seeding is done, the Competitive Department may move players from one draw to another. Check the Competitors list for updates.
- Withdrawals will be reflected on-line through 12:00 PM on Friday, August 12.
- LATE WITHDRAWALS AFTER 12:00 PM ON FRIDAY MAY NOT BE POSTED ON-LINE. We will attempt to contact opponents, but we may not be able to do so in every situation, particularly regarding withdrawals Friday afternoon or early Saturday.
- If withdrawing late (after 12:00 PM on Friday), notify ATC in writing AND via phone to TD or Referee, as email may not be read "instantly" late on Friday or once the tournament begins. Check your email regularly, and make sure you list a valid phone number when you register.
- No refunds after the deadline.
- Players who withdraw once the tournament begins must speak with the Referee at the main site. Do not leave a message with the customer service representatives who answer the phone. They will not take your withdrawal information. Players must follow up with an email to atc@arlingtontx.gov.

Singles A & B Draws:
Feed In Consolation through the Round of 16. Players who lose in the Quarterfinal Round will be placed into their own consolation bracket of four players and the winner of this bracket receives fifth place points. Play-off for the 3rd and 4th place. A NEW regulation for the Texas Tier 4 tournaments is 14s-18s Main Draws will play a full third set. - Only one partner in doubles must be Super Championship qualified. Both partners must be age eligible.
- All partners who register or are paired together, stay together.

Notes:
- Inclement weather may necessitate adjustments in the schedule.

- Players should plan to arrive at their first match site 15-30 minutes before the match is scheduled to begin so that they will have time to pick up their tournament towel, turn in waivers and verify cell numbers with the site director.
- Players must check in with their site director before each match. Players should plan to check in for their second round and later matches at least 15 minutes in advance.
- Players do not need to check in at Arlington Tennis Center unless they play at that location. Tournament towels will be available at each site.

All players must provide a signed Participant Consent Form before they can participate in the tournament. Print the form in advance, complete it, including PRINTING YOUR NAME UNDER THE SIGNATURE LINES, and bring the completed form with you to your first match.

Excessive Overrule Guideline: The USTA Texas Officials Committee along with the Competitive Department has established a guideline in reference to excessive overrules as clarified in the Friend at Court. This guideline states "Once a player has been overruled for a second time in a match, they will be cautioned that after another overrule, they will be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct under the point penalty system.

Inappropriate umpire/spectator communication, whether it be about a ruling or any other facet of a tennis event is prohibited while a match is in progress. Being a parent, coach, etc. does not endow special privileges. With the only exception of the right to remove their own child from competition at any time, a parent or coach is merely a spectator.
