SUNDAY: A BIG MOC DAY
The UT-Chattanooga men's and women's tennis teams put smiles on the faces of coaches Carlos Garcia and Tom Lowry, respectively, by capturing five championships in the UTC/Baras Collegiate Fall Classic on Sunday at the Champions Club. Lady Moc newcomer Anastasia Zhukova first claimed the Women's A singles title, knocking off Tatiana Pozo of Belmont, 6-3, 6-3. Zhukova later teamed with Bonnie Adams to defeat Ann Kristin Siljestrom-Claudia Szabo of Middle Tennessee, 8-6, for the Women's A doubles crown. As for the Mocs, it was a no-lose situation in several matches. In A singles, Mark Fynn topped top-seed (and UTC teammate) Arturo Navarro by 6-4, 6-2 in the final, while fourth-seeded Badr Bouabdellah stopped Moc teammate (and No. 2 seed) Ryan Fitzgerald, 7-6 (5), 6-2, for the B singles championship. In A doubles, again a Moc standoff, Fitzgerald and Navarro defeated Josh Bales-Fynn, 8-0, in the final. The top-seeded Samford duo of Renan Silveira-Bradley Weaver trimmed the UTC pair of Bouabdellah-Artyom Vlasenko, seeded second, by 8-6 in the B doubles finale.

SATURDAY: HOST MOCS STAND TALL
Host school UT-Chattanooga took advantage of playing in familiar surroundings at the Champions Club by advancing five players to Sunday morning's singles finals. On Saturday, the Lady Mocs' Anastasia Zhukova won twice to meet Belmont University's Tatiana Pozo for the Women's A singles championship. Pozo claimed her spot in the final by tripping UTC's Lindsey Ballard, 7-5, 6-4. On the men's side, however, it's all-Moc finals in both the Men's A and Men's B singles title showdowns. Men's A top seed Arturo Navarro will battle unseeded teammate Mark Fynn for the crown. Navarro held off North Alabama's Guilherme Fonseca, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3 in the semis, while Fynn ousted No. 4 seed Marc Ladoceur by 7-6 (4), 7-6 (6) in the quarterfinals, then stopped No. 2 Stuart Misner of Samford by 7-5, 6-2 in the semis. In the B flight final, UTC's Badr Bouabdellah, seeded fourth, tangles with teammate and No. 2 seed Ryan Fitzgerald. Bouabdellah advanced to the title round by knocking off top seed Hank Grant of Samford, 6-3, 6-0. Chattanooga's Michael Hangstefer fell one win shy of playing for the C singles title, losing in the semis to Jacksonville State's Christian Rybertt, 7-6, 6-4.
