Sunday Night Check-In
I will be at Salt Lake Swim & Tennis on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 - 5:00pm to meet players and check players in who would like to check in early. You are not required to check-in Sunday night, you may check in before your first match.

Salt Lake Club Hours - Practice Courts
The Salt Lake Swim & Tennis Club will have at least 1 court open for practice on Friday night from 6pm until 9pm, Saturday from 1:00pm until 8pm, and Sunday from 8am until 9pm. Club will open at 7am on Monday for players to practice on all 5 courts. All matches for tournametn will be in the bubble, but often there will be practice courts in "the house" also.

I am sorry if some of you did not see the preliminary seeding when it was created last Friday. I sent out emails to all players with the preliminary seeding listed. If you did not receive this email, please shoot me an email so I have your address. I do a lot of communication with the players via email. Thanks!

Preliminary Seeding
The preliminary singles seeding is as follows: 1) Mario Tabares 2) Thomas Kong 3) Ken White 4) Douglas Failla 5) Willie Alumbaugh 6) Doug Elly 7) Kyle Permut 8) Jerry Lockwood. I am waiting on some players to make final determinations about whether they are playing or not. You may still give input to this seeding. Final seeding will post Wednesay mid-day and the draw will post by noon on Thursday.

Location - Salt Lake Swim & Tennis Club
The new Park City facility will not be finished (just needed 10 more days!) in time for the Men's 45s this year. Salt Lake Swim & Tennis Club has offered to host the tournament at their facility again. Laurie Lambert, from the Park City Racquet Club, will be the tournament Director. Please send all inquiries to her at 435-615-5428.
So - the tournament will take place at approximately 5000 feet altitude in Salt Lake.

Play Begins...
Play will begin at 8:00am on Monday, November 7. Please fly in on Sunday so you are ready to play Monday first thing.Tournament is scheduled to finish Friday morning if draw size is 64 or less. Most players will have 2 singles matches on Monday. Doubles may or may not begin on Monday..it may start Tuesday if draw size is 16 or less.

Directions to Salt Lake Swim & Tennis Club
Phone is 801-487-3206. The club is located 15 minutes from the Salt Lake Airport. Take I-80 East from the airport. You will merge onto I-15 for a bit, and then I-80 breaks off again. Follow directions for I-80 East as you cross Salt Lake City. Take the 1300 East exit (SugarHouse). At end of exit ramp, turn left onto 1300 East. Go up to the Sizzler and turn RIGHT onto 2100 South. Follow this up to the high school and turn RIGHT onto 1700 East. Cross over the freeway, and you will immediately see a down ramp to the club. Address is 2471 South 1700 East. Match Format
All matches, including consolation, will be best 2 out of 3 sets, regular scoring. The singles draw will be a Full Feed-In Consolation Draw.

Doubles Information
Although the online doubles will close on the last date of entries, players may continue to sign up for doubles until noon on Monday, November 7.To sign up after the deadline, send Laurie an e-mail.This allows for players to meet and pair up with other players who are entered into the tournament. The doubles draw will post mid-day Monday. If there are more than 16 teams, there will be play on Monday evening to get the draw down to 16 for Tuesday play. The tournament director does give out player e-mail and phone contacts to other players looking to find partners. If you DO NOT want your contact information given out...please send an e-mail to Laurie. Doubles will have a First Match Losers Consolation Draw (not a full feed-in).

Number of Matches Per Day
Please be aware that both the singles and doubles draws have consolation draws. The singles will be a full feed-in consolation and the doubles will be a first match losers consolation. This means that players could be playing 2 singles matches per day plus one doubles match if they choose to participate in both consolation draws.

Courts at Facility
When you get to Salt Lake Swim & Tennis Club - there are 2 banks of courts. The tournament will be played only on the "bubble" courts. We will have practice courts in the bubble all weekend.

Practice Courts
There will be balls and courts set aside all day Saturday and Sunday before the tournament starts for players to practice at no charge. Generally there is no problem with court availability. If you feel you must reserve a court at a certain time, you can call the front desk to reserve your court. 801-487-3206. Cost will be $22/hr over the weekend if you reserve. During the tournament, there will be 1 or 2 practice courts for players to use at no charge. If, during the tournament, you would like to reserve a practice court, the cost will be $25/hr. The club will be open until 9:00 pm Saturday and Sunday before play begins.

Important Information:
This tournament is sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) as a closed national championship. Singles players in ITF ranking divisions (Women's 35-80 & Men's 35-85) will receive Grade 3 ranking points. All USTA members, regardless of nationality or residence, are welcome to participate in this event. (To join the USTA, click here.)

Seeding
Seeding will be done using the All Factors method. The current standing list will not be the seeding list - it is merely a starting point. Other factors include specific wins and losses to other players entered and any other pertinent information. The seeding should reflect the Committee's rating of the various players' chances of winning the tournament.Seeding for singles will post on Friday, October 28 and the seeding committee will allow for input by players until Monday, October 31. Final seeds will post November 1.

Tiebreaks
All tiebreaks will be the traditional method (changing every 6 points) first to seven win by two.
