83rd PACIFIC SOUTHWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS - Super Category II

Remember that all matches after the first round are subject to change so please re-check your match times at your site after each round. "PTC" is the Palisades Tennis Club. "TTC" is The Tennis Club (formerly the Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club at 1602 East Coast Highway, Newport Beach, 92660). Directions to TTC: From the 405 Freeway take Jamboree west to Pacific Coast Highway (also known as "Coast Hwy" or Highway 1) - turn left to first signal - turn left at Irvine Terrace - courts are on the right as you enter the parking lot for the Newport Beach Country Club.

As always, we will give participants an opportunity to give feedback to our seedings prior to the posting of draws at 5 PM on Sept. 13th. This means we need to hear from you by the end of the day on the 12th to have the Committee review any information that would affect seedings. Please look for the seedings to be posted on the 11th, and respond immediately (within 48 hours) to Ken Stuart with your input if the seeds seem incorrect. We want the seedings to be fair, but if we do not hear from you by the time draws are posted, we can not change them. We do appreciate your unbiased assistance.

The Palisades Tennis Club in Newport Beach, our host site, is the premiere club in all of Southern California. Located just a mile from the ocean, the club is a tennis player's dream with beautiful court surfacing, lighting, and a classic, all-tennis emphasis from the courts to the bar. Players and their guests are welcome to come and observe all week at no charge our clubhouse, restaurant and bar are open to all. We do ask that guests park in the non-member (Hyatt) parking lot to the LEFT of the entrance off of Jamboree. The parking lot adjacent to the courts is for members only, and may cause your car to be towed (please don't let that happen!). BRING YOUR RECEIPT FOR HYATT PARKING and the club will VALIDATE YOUR RECEIPT so you are not charged. The guest parking lot is just a 50-yard warm-up walk, and we appreciate your understanding of the limited parking. During the weekdays (before 2 PM), parking is not an issue, but we want you to be prepared for matches that may go beyond that hour. Remember that COLLARED SHIRTS ARE REQUIRED on the courts, and no black-soled shoes are allowed. Club address: 1171 Jamboree Road, Newport Beach, 92660.

Outside of the "ITF Category II" sanction, we will offer mixed doubles in 40, 50, and 60 age divisions. We will also offer Father-Son, and Father-Daughter doubles (no age restriction).

Join us for two outstanding players parties. On Saturday, September 26 dinner is provided by Panda Express from 6:00 - 8:00 pm with dancing from 8:00 pm to midnight. A 60+ Senior Barbeque will be held from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm on thursday, September 24. All participants will receive a New Balance travel duffle bag as their player gift. Champions in each division receive a pair of New Balance shoes. Other awards are courtesy of Wilson Racquet Sports

Our 60+ divisions are played Monday through Friday during the daytime. If you are coming from out-of-state, or if you are in another national event that may conflict, we will try to accommodate time contrictions. These can only be approved prior to the closing of the tournament so please let us know immediately.

For the 'kids' in the 55 and under age divisions, matches will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 23 and end on the weekend (26th/27th). If we have draws larger than 32, we will have a 'qualifying' round on Sunday, Sept. 20th. We have only had this happen in Men's 45 and 50 singles in the past. If you absolutely can not play on that day (Sept. 20), please let us know before the tournament closes on Sept. 7 and we will TRY to accommodate. This can only be done for those with extreme emergencies or those coming from out of the area. Remember, we WILL have some of these matches during the afternoon (noon on) on if draws are large otherwise, we try to have them after 4 PM if at all possible.

Please note that the Pacific Southwest has been given a new, higher-point status with USTA/ITF sanction. Our players will receive 25% more points for each round they win. Parking: All weekend players and all players scheduled for play at Palisades Tennis Club after 12:00 noon during the week (Monday-Friday) must park in the lower lot of the Hyatt Hotel. Parking in the Palisades lot between 12:00 noon and 7:30 pm weekdays and at all times on weekends is reserved for club members only. Follow the signs to the lower parking lot (Turn left at the stop sign when entering) and bring your parking ticket with you for validation and complimentary parking.

CLOSEST AIRPORT is the Orange County Airport (SNA), just 7 minutes from Palisades Tennis Club.
