Welcome! Please read - this is information for ALL players!
Welcome to the Rio del Oro NTRP/Open/Age tournament!
Player amenities will include T-shirts, adult beverages, and snacks for all
adult players. Please come and play!
This tournament is scheduled for one-weekend of play, March 27-29, 2020 (Friday
through Sunday). When registering for the tournament, please enter a valid email address and
cell phone number. If you do not enter this information, we will not be able to
contact you for changes in the schedule or draw, or for any other issues that
affect play.
Formats of Play:
The Open draws are limited to 64 for singles and to 16 for
doubles. All matches will be the best of three tiebreak sets. Open
singles matches will not start before 2:00 PM on Friday. We will allow players
to request an avoidance until 3:30 PM on Friday if they are in school. This
avoidance should be requested BEFORE entries close. Otherwise, no avoidances
for Friday play can be accepted. In the past, we have had to play two
rounds of men’s open singles on Friday.
The Age draws are limited to 16 for all events. All matches
will be the best of three tiebreak sets with a 10-point match tiebreak played
in lieu of the third set. Players are limited to one singles and one doubles
event maximum.
The NTRP draws are limited to 32 for singles and to 16 for
doubles. All matches will be the best of three tiebreak sets with a 10-point
match tiebreak played in lieu of the third set. Players are limited to one
singles and one doubles event maximum at the SAME NTRP level. While we don’t anticipate
most draws requiring Friday evening play, in the event that Friday play is
required, it would not start before 6 PM.
If entries exceed the draw limit, please note that the tournament director
may choose 25% of the entries for an event first. For NTRP and Age draws, all
other entrants are selected by lot (random). For Open divisions, all other
entrants are selected by UTR criteria as published in the adult tournament
rules. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL EVENTS which exceed a draw of 16 will definitely start
on Friday and all players in these events will be expected to be available on
Friday for play. With regard to the NTRP divisions, most divisions will start
on Saturday, March 2nd, unless total draw size necessitates playing a round on
Friday evening, which would start at 6 PM or later. Please note that avoidances
may not be granted if they affect the fairness of play or the scheduling.
Please enter on time. Late entrants may not be accepted. The entry
deadline is Friday, March 20, 2020, at 11:59 PM.
Hotel information is pending.

Concurrent Tournament Rule
A player shall not be entered at the time entries close in two or more USTA sanctioned tournaments scheduled to take place at the same time, in whole or in part, unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation, concurs in writing, and each agrees to accommodate the player’s schedule. The final decision rests with each tournament committee. If one tournament agrees to accept concurrent entries and accommodate the player's schedule but the concurrent tournament does not, the player may not enter both. If entries for the overlapping tournaments close on different dates, approval must be received from all Tournament Committees no later than the entry closing date that occurs last. Players who enter a tournament and play it to completion, may then enter another tournament with overlapping dates without permission. If a player violates this concurrent tournament rule ranking points earned in any concurrent tournament played will not count toward ranking or the Grand Prix Points Race and the concurrent tournaments will not count toward the minimum tournament requirement to qualify for Grand Prix.
