NSMTA Doubles Champs awarded Cat III Status
Because of
its new round robin format, the NSMTA (National Senior Men’s Tennis
Association) Super Senior Doubles Championships was awarded Category III (300
points) status by USTA National. The
unique format will put all players in a round robin group to start with
guaranteeing them two to three matches with the winners of each group advancing
to the next round. A perfect
example is a draw of 16 teams would have 4 groups of 4 with each team playing
three matches. Winners of the groups
then advance to the semi’s.
Another
unique feature is that in some draws where there are fewer players the best second
place team in the groups will advance as well.
Thus giving a team who has lost a match a chance to still win the tournament! In this tournament. This year we will also add consolation draws to ensure at least three matches for everyone.
The NSMTA
will officially start on January 1, 2018, and we hope that you will want to
join and support the organization (below mission statement). Good luck and enjoy the tournament.

PLAYERS CAN ENTER ONLY ONE DIVISION
Sorry with teams playing two matches a day for the first two days it would be extremely difficult have players playing in two divisions.

ABBREVIATED LINE SWEEP SYSTEM
ALSS - Abbreviated Line Sweeping System In order to speed up turnover time of courts and improve line calling (leaves better mark) the tournament will use as in the past the ALSS. This is where only the service and baselines are cleaned leaving the sidelines uncleaned. The service & baselines are cleaned for depth perception but not needed on sidelines. In turn the ball makes much clearer mark when line is unswept. This also saves valuable turnover time of courts when there are full schedule of matches all day using 12 courts (saving approx. 3 minutes per court x 12 x 4 court turnovers = 148 minutes of line sweeping). Once you get used to it you'll wonder why we don't use it all the time (I know not as pretty). Play well & good luck - Larry Turville - Tournament Advisor
