The American Tennis Foundation non-profit charity
The American Tennis Foundation is a non-profit charity dedicated to
benefiting the physically, mentally and/or financially
disadvantaged in their desire to participate in the sport of tennis
in the United States. 100% of profit from tournament will be
donated in the form of grants to qualified organizations and
individuals. This year, the American Tennis Foundation has selected
the Fisher House Foundation as the recipient of net proceeds raised
from the tournament. The Fisher House Foundation s a non-profit
charity that benefits United States military veterans. All
tournament staff (excluding referees) are volunteers (i.e. not
paid). Donations to the charity are accepted. Receipts for
donations will be provided upon request.
West End and South End Tennis Clubs
West End and South End Tennis Clubs are the South Bay's premier
private resort clubs featuring 32 tennis courts between them as
well as state of the art facilities for swimming, indoor
basketball, paddle tennis, racquetball, weight rooms and fitness
centers, steam rooms and saunas. The primary tournament site is
West End Tennis Club located at 4343 Spencer Street, Torrance, CA
90503-2485(310) 542-7373. Matches to be played at West End will
have the letters "WE" next to the match time on the "Draws" pages
of this website. Some matches will be played at South End Tennis
Club located at 2800 Skypark Drive, Torrance, CA 90505, (310)
530-0630. Matches to be played at South End will have the letters
"SE" next to the match time on the "Draws" pages of this
website.
Tournament Party and Silent Auction
• Admission is free for all registered players and their guests to
the Tournament Party and Silent Auction on Saturday, August 2, from
6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the West End club house. Food and drinks
will be served for a moderate charge.
• Various items will be sold to the highest bidder in our Silent
Auction. View the items and write down your bid. You do not need to
be present to win. Items for sale may include vacation trips,
sporting events, Disneyland passes, credit coupons at local
restaurants, wine and liquor, electronics and toys, beauty
products, clothing, etc.
Open Singles Finals
Come Out to Watch the Men's and Women's Singles Open Finals
• Women's Open Singles Final will be on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at
12:00 p.m. at West End
• Men's Open Singles Final will be on Sunday, August 11, 2014 at
3:00 p.m. at West End
$5,000.00 Prize Money
A total pool of $5,000.00 prize money will be awarded in the men's
and women's open singles and doubles events. The large majority of
prize money will be awarded in men's and women's open singles
events. A small portion of the prize money will be awarded in the
Open doubles events that have at least 8 partnerships in the draw.
No prize money will be awarded in the age 40, 50 or
60 and over events, the father-son/ father-daughter events or the
NTRP events. Last year's prize money distribution was: $2,000 Men's
Open Singles Champion $1,000 Men's Open Singles Finalist, $500 each
to Men's Open Singles Quarterfinalists; $500 Women's Open Singles
Champion $250 Women's Open Singles Finalist; $125.00 each to the
Women's Open Singles Quaterfinalists. Prize money allocations
between men's and women's events are generally dependent on the
number of players entered in the events.
Multiple Event Entries
Players are limited to entering two events, except with express
permission of the tournament director.
T-Shirts
T-shirts will be provided at the time of check-in for first match
to all registered players who have requested one at the time of
their registration on the registration form (this is what we use to
order the correct number of shirts). Only one free T-shirt is
provided per player, regardless of number of events entered.
Additional shirts may be available for purchase for $25.00 at the
event, while supplies last.
Trophies
Trophies will be awarded to the winners and finalists of all events
that are not eligible for prize money and that have a minimum of 6
players/ partnerships (i.e. All Open Doubles events, all Age 40, 50
and 60 and over events, and all NTRP events).
Open Singles Division Seeding
If more than 32 players enter either the men's or women's open
singles divisions, the top 16 players will be seeded and
automatically entered into the "Round of 32" on Wednesday, August
6, 2014. The non-seeded open players will play in early rounds on
Monday, Aug. 4 and/or Tuesday, Aug. 5, in order to achieve 32
remaining players for the Round of 32 on Weds.
Family Events
Based on input for greater participation, the Father-Daughter and
Father-Son events will be multiple match format and
shortened-format. Therefore all levels are welcome. (If it's a
small draw, then this could be then more than one match and pro-set
no ad scoring.) Once the number of teams are determined, we'll
announce the details.
60 USTA REGULATIONS I.E. (Match Formats and Scoring)
4. Pro sets. A pro set is one set in which a player or team must
win eight games by a margin of two games to win the match. If the
score reaches 8-all, a 7-Point Tiebreak (first to 7 by a margin of
2) is played, with the winner of the tiebreak winning the match by
a score of 9-8(x) where x is the number of points won by the player
or team who lost.
No-ad scoring at 3-3. Gender serves to gender.
Father-Son: 1st round losers are highly encouraged to play a 2nd
match for third place. See draw for date and times.
Father-Daughter: "To be determined" in the consolation draw would
be Bye only if 1st AND 2nd seeds WIN their main draw matches.
Please check draw later that Saturday evening to check your Sunday
times.
If they don't lose (1st and 2nd seeds) then finals consolation
would change from 4pm to 2:30pm finals.
Match General Schedule.
• We will attempt to accommodate player scheduling issues if the
Tournament Director is notified of the scheduling issue on or
before July 30, 2013. However, there is no guarantee that we will
be able to accommodate player scheduling issues. We cannot honor
requests for scheduling changes after the draws have been
posted.
• Match time and locations are subject to change so check the pages
under the "Draws" tab above for scheduling information daily.

Combined Mixed Doubles
• Please note that match results in the Combined Mixed Doubles
matches NTPR 7.0-10.0 do not count towards USTA rankings.
Tournament Rules
All matches will be governed by USTA rules and regulations
including those contained in the official USTA publication "Friend
at Court." All entrants must be USTA active members through August
10, 2014. If more than 32 players enter either the men's or women's
open singles divisions, the top 16 players will be automatically
entered into the "Round of 32" on Wednesday and there will be some
qualifier matches on Monday, Aug. 5 or Tuesday, Aug. 6, in order to
get the men's and women's open divisions down to 32 players each
for the "Round of 32." All matches are best 2 out of 3 sets, with
regular (i.e. NOT no-ad), a full third set is played (NOT super
tie-break). Doubles play Coman tie-break at 6-6 in the set. Draws
will be posted on this website. All Draws are subject to change at
any time, so please check the USTA website frequently for schedule
and location changes.

This is a USTA Sanctioned Tournament.
Player Selection TypeNo Selection Process. All registered players will be selected.
Entry TypeEntry to this tournament is open to all USTA members. Entries must be submitted by Tuesday, July 29, 2014 5:00:00 PM Pacific Time. Only USTA members can register online if available.
