GENERAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: The Maywood Open is a wonderful
tournament. The people are friendly, the competition is stiff and
the atmosphere is envigorating. If the sun shines, the tournament
will be held on the tennis courts of Proviso East High School at
First Ave & Warren Street in Maywood, IL. If it rains, the
tournament will be moved inside. Please check this website for the
location of the indoor courts in the event of rain. TOURNAMENT
OFFICIATING: USTA certified referees from the Chicago Tennis Umpire
Council will officiate the tournament. SCORING: Singles matches
will consist of the best two out of three sets, regular scoring. If
the players tie at six games all, a seven point tie breaker - the
first player to seven points by two - will determine the winner of
a set. Doubles matches will consist of the best of three sets. The
first two sets will have regular scoring with a seven point tie
breaker if the players tie at six games all. If the doubles teams
split sets, the third set will be a super tie breaker. The first
team to ten points by 2 will win. SCHEDULE OF PLAY: Match play will
start at 6:00pm on Friday, August 9th, 8:00am on Saturday, August
10th and 9:00am on Sunday, August 11th. The tournament committee
reserves the right to start matches earlier on Saturday and Sunday
if inclement weather or scheduling conflicts require us to do so.
In accordance with USTA rules, the tournament committee also
reserves the right to cancel or consolidate any event with an
insufficient number of entries. FIRST MATCH TIMES: The draws and
first match times will be availble on this website on Thursday,
August 8th. WITHDRAWALS/MIDWEST SUSPENSION POINT SYSTEM: If you
need to withdraw while registration is still open, please go to our
homepage and in the left margin click on "Edit Registration" and
proceed to withdraw. No reason is necessary while the registration
is still open. If registration has closed but the tournament has
not yet begun, please email the tournament director and list the
reason for withdrawal. If tournament has begun, please call the
tournament director. REMEMBER when withdrawing from a USTA event
once the selections have been made, the only reasons that are
accepted by the USTA Referee without incurring FIVE (5) suspension
points are injury, illness or family emergency. USTA CONTACT
INFORMATION: Procedure for tournament registration: because of
Privacy Laws, your contact information from USTA membership doesn't
show up in the Tournament Directors' software anymore. Only what
you indicate during the registration process shows up. We have no
way of contacting you if you leave these areas blank. For instance,
your opponent is sick, you may make an unnecessary trip to the
tournament site. You must indicate all phone numbers, home, cell (a
must!), work and your email address on each registration, EACH and
EVERY time, for each and every tournament you register enter.
SEEDING REGULATIONS: The number of players seeded shall equal a
power of two (for example 2,4,8,16,32). The maximum ratio of
players seeded shall be one in three, except that any draw may have
two seeds. No more seeded players at #'s 5,6,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,

II.A-1 REFUNDS: Refunds will only be given if you withdraw before
the entry deadline or an event is cancelled due to insufficient
entries. AWARDS: Trophies will be given to the winner and finalist
of each event. A tee shirt will be given to everyone that enters
