12 and Under Age Division GREEN BALL
12 & UNDER AGE DIVISIONS
At a joint conference call held with the Southwest Section Junior Competition Committee and the Southwest Section Coaches Commission it was unanimously decided that all 12 and under competition in the Southwest Section will use the GREEN BALL in 2012. Consequently, the Valley of the Sun tournament will use the GREEN BALL.
Based on feedback from Parents, Coaches and the Coaches Commission this decision was made to allow for one pool of competitors in the 12 & under division in tournaments (instead of yellow and green ball divisions). Additionally, this will allow all 12 & under competitors equal opportunity to receive national points and earn spots on to our Zonal teams.
The parameters for advancement from Orange Ball competition to 12 & under competition are still in place.

BIRTH CERTIFICATE to the Southwest Office
All USTA Southwest Section resident junior players must have a copy of their birth certificate on file with the Southwest Section Office in order to play closed tournaments. If you have not yet filed your child’s birth certificate with the office, please do so by faxing it to Eric Mitchell at 480.289.2701.
The Competitor's list posted on Tuesday, January 3 reflects all players properly entered in the tournament and accurately reflects the Orange, Green or Yellow ball division in which your child has been placed. If you entered the tournament in a timely manner and your name does not appear in the Competor's list, it is likely due to the fact that you have not submitted a copy of your birth certificate/green card to the Southwest office. You have until Thursday, January 5 to comply with the birth certificate provision and be placed back on the Competitor's list. Additionally, if you believe the Orange, Green or Yellow ball division in which your child has been placed is not appropriate according to the new rule, you have until Thursday, January 5 to appeal the decision. You should provide a detailed accounting of relevant results and experience supporting your position to have your child moved in division.
