USTA Nor Cal DOUBLES PILOT SITE
The USTA Nor Cal Junior Competition offices asked us to be a pilot site to encourage doubles play. Please note the following important information on changes we have implemented this year: All doubles will be an 8 game pro-set. We will try to finish all doubles draws the first weekend of the tournament. We are adding a 3rd/4th place playoff for doubles. If we have inclement weather, the priority for rescheduling matches will be: 1. Main Draw Singles 2. Main Draw Doubles 3. Consolation Singles. If you do not have a partner, we will randomly pair all who sign up for doubles (we find a partner for you). IMPORTANT TO NOTE: In April 2012, doubles will count toward a combined rating and results from this tournament will count toward your ranking!
|
DOUBLES MATCH FORMAT
Single Elimination. 8 game pro-set with a 10 Point match tiebreak at 8-all.
No consolation in doubles but a play-off for 3rd/4th place.
|
DOUBLES PARTNER DESIGNATION
Please provide the name of your doubles partner when registering for the doubles. If you have not selected a partner, but are interested in playing doubles, we will randomly pair all un-partnered players. All unpaired players will be randomly paired at the time of draw and no partner changes will be made after draws are made except to replace withdrawn players.
Players must play in the same division for singles and doubles.

SPORTSMANSHIP AT BROADSTONE JR. EXCELLENCE FOR PLAYERS & NON-PLAYERS
The tournament staff and the officials wish to provide a safe, fair, and enjoyable environment for all participants and non-players.
Players: please report to your match site on time and appropriately prepared for play. The Point Penalty System is in effect for lateness and for all inappropriate behavior such as but not limited to swearing, taunting, potential endangerment of others with balls or racket, harming equipment or courts, ball or racket abuse, verbal or physical abuse of a player or official, receipt of coaching, or other acts of poor sportsmanship. First offense is loss of point second offense is loss of game third offense is a default. No warning is necessary in USTA rules. For egregious acts of poor sportsmanship, a player may be defaulted summarily and will be out of all events at the tournament. This default may be appealed to the Tournament Appeals Committee within 15 minutes of the default, and the Tournament Appeals Committee’s decision is final.
All players will be playing under the Code, the PPS, and the NorCal Suspension Point System. All codes as well as inappropriate behavior and sportsmanship will be reported to NorCal for administration of suspension points. These penalties will apply to a player not only for his own acts but also for those acts of people associated with him, such as parents, coaches, and other spectators.
If a player feels that there is inappropriate behavior on or around their court from either his opponent or non-players, the player needs to stop play and come and get an official for assistance. The player needs to take responsibility for his match in this regard because the officials and staff cannot be everywhere.
Players should always remember that a cardinal rule in tennis is that if any part of the ball touches the line, the ball is good. If there is any doubt in the player’s mind, the ball is good. If all players would adhere to this standard, then everyone will just play. Please call the ball the way in which you would want it called for yourself.
Non-Players: Please enjoy the matches and refrain from interjecting yourself into the matches. Encourage your player and be polite to his opponent. If your behavior is less than exemplary, you may be asked to leave the site. Remember that we are guests at all of the venues. The officials and staff are responsible for the grounds and the non-players. If it is perceived that you are interfering in a match, we will ask you to leave. Protection and safety of the players is one of our first priorities.
If you come and participate in this tournament, you have agreed to this stipulation.
Thank you, and have a great tournament. more info
