2010 MIAA Individual Championships

The finals of the MIAA A & B Conference Varsity Individual Tennis Championships will be played Friday at 2:30 p.m. (note the time change) at McDonogh School. You MUST check the weather phone number 410 581-4760 to see if the matches have been moved indoors. If they have, players need to be at the Green Spring Racquet Club BEFORE 2:30. If we are outdoors, the match format will remain the same. If indoors, the third set will be a 10-point match tie-break. If we start at McDonogh and it rains there, we will move indoors. Rain today - but late. So we will finish the last few matches at 3:15 Thursday and then have the semi-finals. Finals will be played at 3:15 Friday. Completed scores from today will be posted as soon as we can get to them.

1. NOTE: A few of the draws have changed. 2. All matches scheduled for Tuesday will be played Wednesday (we hope) and all matches scheduled for Thursday will be played Friday (we also hope). 3. As of this morning, we are planning to go on today, first matches at 2:45.

WEATHER: We know how far people have to travel, so we will try to make a decision as early as possible, by noon if we can. If we are rained out tomorrow, we will NOT go inside tomorrow rather, we will just push the tournament a day. If you have an AP exam Wednesday, tell us when you report your score on Tuesday. Apparently a number of players just found out they had AP exams - or they just found out from their coaches that we need to know . . . . In any event, the draws are continuing to change. This means we will have EMPTY courts at 2:45 - and will put on some 3:30 matches if both players are present.

PLEASE check the draws again over the weekend. Things do occasionally change! NOTE: Weather information (if necessary) will be on 410 581-4760. If it is busy, probably too many people calling at once.

If you are taking an AP exam in the afternoon on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, you must tell the desk when you report your score. We will NOT schedule matches for late in the day until we are SURE that one of the players will be late.

All A Conference line-ups are finally in draws should be posted this afternoon. If you see any mistakes or misspellings (they do happen), please email llevy@mcdonogh.org.

Only 7 B conference teams (of 9) and 8 A conference teams (of 12) have submitted entries. Also, we still need input from coaches if they want players seeded. Coaches should also let us know of Monday or Tuesday afternoon AP Exam conflicts. If players have exams Wednesday or Thursday, they can just let us know at the desk after their Monday or Tuesday matches.

Entry forms will be emailed to ADs and coaches in April.

Draws will be posted on this site as soon as possible, all depending on how early entry forms are received.
