NEW FOR NC PLAYERS ONLY!!
Junior Suspension Points for Failure to Complete a Tournament for NC players!!The number of players not completing all matches in a tournament is very high. There are numerous withdrawals once the draws are posted, and many walkovers in the consolation rounds. Although the penalty below is minor, those who consistently fail to complete a tournament will understand this is not acceptable. Failure to play a match is not fair to opponents, costly to an opponent, and not good sportsmanship. Because the NCTA realizes the importance of school to the players, a school exempt clause is included. (passed by NCTA Board 10/09)
1. After the tournament online deadline, failure for a NC junior player to complete a tournament for ANY reason other than retirement during a match due to injury = 1 Point.
2. Players may receive 1 point for main draw, 1 point for consolation and 1 point for doubles = 3 Points.
3. Points are cumulative in the Junior Suspension points system.
4. A notification letter is sent at 6 points.
5. A three month suspension will occur when 10 points are reached. Appeals at 10 points can be made to the grievance chairperson. Inclusion under Unsportsmanlike Conduct in the junior Suspension points tab.
6. To be exempt from the above, a player must notify the Tournament Director immediately at the conclusion of his/her Sunday play that they will be attending school, and will not be participating in play on Monday. The Tournament Director will send a list of those players who have requested this exemption to NC Tennis.
|
SELECTION PROCESS
Draws will be limited to 32. The top 32 players applying will be selected by the Southern Section office, from the latest USTA/Southern standing list (November 1, 2001) -- 28 players from the age group will be selected and up to 4 players from the younger age group that have a top 40 standing and are not in the selected 28.
|
GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY
Players are allowed to enter two age divisions in Southern L3 tournaments, within these guidelines: #1. Players selected to both age divisions they apply for will automatically be selected in the older age division. They would be removed from the other age division. #2. Players not selected to either division would remain on the alternates lists for both divisions but would be obligated to play the division they first get in from the alternates list. They would be removed from the Alternates list in the other division. #3. Players selected to one age division would be removed from the alternates list of the division they were not selected. #4. Once a player is selected for any one division no changes can be made
|
ENTRY VIOLATIONS
Entering two tournaments at the same time is a violation of the USTA rules in the USTA Southern Section, and players may be assessed five (5) junior suspension points for violation of this rule. In "Friend at Court," USTA Tournament Regulation 1 N. 11 & 12 states: 11. "A player shall not enter two tournaments at the same time. When entries close, a player shall not be entered in two or more sanctioned tournaments, if any part of the tournaments are scheduled to overlap unless each Tournament Committee involved understands the situation and concurs in writing." 12. "A player shall not enter a tournament intending to withdraw if the player’s entry is accepted in another tournament. A player shall not enter a tournament with the intention of withdrawing if the player’s entry is accepted in another tournament, unless the Tournament Committee for the tournament in which the player has entered understands the situation and concurs with the contemplated action." If a player on the Alternate list wants to enter a different tournament, he/she must withdraw from this tournament before entering another one.
