Junior Suspension Points for Failure to Complete a Tournament
The number of players not completing all matches in a tournament is very high. There are numerous withdrawls once the draws are posted, and many walkovers in the consolations. The penalty below is minor. Ho, a pwever, those who consistently fail to complete a tournament will understand this is not acceptable. Failure to not play a match is not fair to opponents, costly to an opponent and not good sportsmanship. Because the NCTS realizes the importance of school to players a school exempt clause is included (passed by NCTA Board 10/09).
1. After the tournament online deadline, failure for a JUNIOR player to complete a tournament for ANY reason other than retirement during a match due to injury equals one suspension point.
2. Players may receive one suspension point for main draw, one point for consolation and one point for doubles. Three suspension points may be accumulated at one tournament.
3. Points are cummulative in the Junior Suspension Points System.
4. A notification letter is sent out at six Suspension Points.
5. A three month suspension will occur when ten points are reached. Appeals at ten points can be made to the Grievance Chairperson. Inclusion under Unsportsmanship Conduct in the junior Suspension points tab.
6. To be exempt from the above, a player must notify the TD immediately at the conclusion of his/her Sunday play that they will be attending school on Monday so they will not be able to participate in play on Monday. TD will email NC Tennis with players that have requested this exemption.
